Exclusive: In Finding How IED Targeting Went Awry, Investigator Found Trail Of Gifts And Earmarks
- Having served this country for 20 years I''ve voted on both sides of the aisle. Our Constitution is what has kept America a land of the highest ideals and principles. Yet Bush is too willing to chip away at that document. The framers of our Constitution were facing a far greater enemy than we are in our "war" on terrorism, yet they were willing to die for those principles. Anyone so fearful that he agrees to the slippery slope of eroding ANY of our rights is a coward. Period.
I don''t blame anyone in congress (much) for participating in what I see as graft in BOTH parties, they''ve got to work with the system as it is, in a super-competitive environment. Yes, soldiers die. So do civilians, if you want to look at what''s happening, and not being done, here at home. We have no one to blame but ourselves.
Until we get big money out of Washington politics, we, and our soldiers, will always get what we deserve. Nothing more, and always less.
The only way to do that is to get ALL private money out of federal elections.
ONLY vote for candidates who espouse mandatory public financing of all federal elections. If your party has no one who does, vote Independent and let your party know why. It doesn''t really matter which side is in power - as long as the corporations are running things nothing is really going to change, look at the past 30 years... - Reply to this comment

- Problem is that the company could not find enough CHEAP Mexicans, Chinese or Indians to do the job. Most US comanies cry about not being able to find enough people, but what they are not saying is what kind of people they cant find enough of.

It''s not that you''re told what to think and say or even how to think that makes you so pathetic. It''s that you blame the Democrats, thinking they''re the "evil doers" here. Actually, it''s BOTH sides of the aisle that line up to take bribes from money grubbing, greedy germs like this guy...and our politicians know we''ll do nothing about it. It''s time for "We the PEople" TO STAnd up and take our country back!
I say try them all for treason on the steps of the capital! - Reply to this comment
- Hypens become goop in HTML it seems, so I reposted for easier reading.
Very shortly after this aired, I posted comments. Reviewing the 24 page of postings so far gives an interesting overview of our feelings. I hope someone at CBS, the Justice Dept., and others look at these items and take action.
What actions are being called for thru-out these emails ? Charges of treason & murder are numerous, not just for these 2 traitors, but other govt. officials including Bush, Chaney, etc.
This national call for accountability of politicos is real & loud. If laws do not exist to bring criminals of this nature to justice, it is imperative to begin drafting them. Office-holders are NOT exempt from, nor above, the laws of the nation.
Simply letting them serve out their terms and voting them out is not acceptable to citizens. Prosecution is. Punishment should also fit the crime : no plush golf course or library job %u2026 9-lb sledgehammer and tons of concrete to reclaim and re-use materials for new projects.
As some noted, all of their assets should be seized & disposed of into general national funds & to off-set $$ and other losses of victims of their crimes. - Reply to this comment

- "and found MZM had gotten millions in Defense contracts - courtesy of Rep. Duke Cunningham, R-Calif., in the form of earmarks, grants of money without the normal public review.
As member of the House Intelligence Committee, Cunningham was able to keep the earmarks even more secret than most by making them "classified."
"It was not a merit-based process. It was based on sneaking a large contract to a company that had given millions of dollars in bribes and hundreds of thousands of dollars in political contributions to powerful members of Congress," Egland said. "
YAWN, just yet another in a long line of rePUBIC-CON shady doings, just like that idiot made the contracts "classified" to cover his azz, Bush claimed "Executive privilege" about 6 times too many already to hide evidence from investigators and courts, NOW you know what kind of shady krap is hiding behind "classified" and "Executive privilege" titles - Reply to this comment

- Cheneyburton and the Poppylyle Group make Duke''s tiny War Profiteering Laughable by comparison. The Shrub and Darth Family Fortunes hidden in Shell Companies and Offshore Banks are surely in the many, many, $Billions$ of Dollars, and have payed for Darth''s Waterfront Mansion and Yacht in Dubai, and Shrub''s Non-Extradition Nazi Ranch in Paraguay. They''ll soon have International Bounties on their heads as the Scumbag War Criminals they are.

- "This is only one in a long list of total failures on the part of Republican (leadership?)"
Like the Do-Nothing Dems have done any better? The hold our troops hostage for funding just to tack on their own earmarks.
"Just Katrina alone should have given you a clue."
Yes, a Democrat Mayor and a Democrat Governor that TOTALLY failed to prepare for what they KNEW was a certainty to happen.
"Then there''''s the issue of torture."
Dripping water is not torture. Slicing them open, acid, flogging, electric shock, mutilation and beheading; THAT is torture that WE DO NOT DO.
"How about the economy."
Yes, gas prices up 100% since the Dems took over. Thanks, Dems.
"What about the fact that they outed a CIA Operative?"
Mr Armitage outed desk-jockey Plame, and Novak knew it all along and said NOTHING.
"Karl Rove is 3 times in contempt of Congress!"
And the Do-Nothing Dem Congress IS contemptible.
"Over 935 lies by the Republican Party led to the Iraq war."
And the DUMMY Democrats were standing right there along with them.
"Let me guess you listen to Rush, and FOX News?"
Let me guess, YOU listen to NOTHING but the BIAS media and whar your Liberal handlers tell you to listen to.
"Bottom line if you have to advertise that you "Fair and Balanced" then your not!"
Then, by your logic, Obama selling himself as an agent of "Change" is lying too.

- Yet another B.S. story from CBS. We are really being brainwashed. OMG, now they will throw our military under the bus to get this guy elected (BHMO) God help us all.

Maybe you should read the story with an adult. It''s
corruption that threw our military, not under a bus but onto the IED''s that are responsible for most of our troop deaths in Iraq in the last few years. CBS just had the audacity to mention their crimes. - Reply to this comment
