And you think corporations will accomplish what the government seemingly cannot?

Hmmm...

VA Secretary Peake now has a duty to investigate all of the evaluations completed on all the veterans evaluated or counseled by Norma Perez, a PTSD Program Coordinator and Psychologist.

This is an example of someone within the VA medical system believing that they, through some mysterious and unexplained power, have suddenly become the guardian of the public''s purse strings.

VA disability is an entitlement authorized by the U.S. Congress. If you were sick or injured during your military service, and it is something that causes you pain or discomfort today, you can file a claim with the VA. If the claim wins approval, there can be medical care and disability payments. I know about this because I am a disabled veteran.

Norma Perez does not deserve to work in service to veterans.

mjvw2 - no-one will accomplish anything except getting richer by watering down health care while raising insurance premiums under the status quo.

Do you have anything relevant to add to the discussion or are you content with just cynically jab away with neocon nonsense punch lines?

We need to put doctors in charge with financial incentives in place for people in the system to focus on making patients well rather than saving the money to feed the machine.

One other possibilty - Ms Perez is falling on her sword by leaking confidential memos from her bosses in the form of suggestion e-mails. Internal paper memos can be shredded - e-mails are forever. Maybe she''s trying to point out the problem, not add to it.

"this is the kind of c r a p we will all be subject to when we have "universal health care." remember that the VA is a government health agency"

That''s a load of right wing fear-mongering cr*p! We have universal health care in Canada and it is far superior to what the VA inflicts on so many unfortunate sons and daughters.

The VA has always been disasterously in denial about true veteran''s issues (such as agent orange after Vietnam), much worse so when the GOP takes over for a few years and cuts even more funding repeatedly.

Only one "advanced" country on Earth fails to provide health care to all citizens and permanent residents at government expense - the U.S! U.S. also spends far more for health care and covers far fewer people for the cost.

Does the Canadian system have problems? Of course it does, as does any system any where. But you will never be bankrupted to pay for the care you need, and you don''t need to be a "fortunate one" to get treated.

Also you don''t get stuck in a dead-end job for a whole career because a family member has a chronic illness that wouldn''t be covered at the next job''s insurance due to "pre-existing conditions".

Right now America''s worst enemies are the ultra right wingers in the GOP and those that mindlessly quote their twisted, ugly mantra out of ignorance and prejudice...more damage has been done to the once-great U.S. and to the rest of the world by the neocons than by the terrorists.

For Bush and all his hack RINO appointees "support our troops" turns out to be a most hollow pledge. Their fake yellow ribbon cries of support were meant not in sincerity to aid those who serve, but rather simply to rally their base to boost their own warped agenda. This squandered use of one of America''s most precious resources, our military is a crime against the nation.

Look people.... Simple really... They provide America with the freedom the government says we have... They''ve done more for this country than any politician. Give the vet the same healthcare plan that congress & the former presidents receive + give them money toward buying their 1st home tax free & yes I would pay more taxes to support that. We could pay for this with 1/3 the money we''ve paid out for this illegal war. Thank you Vets for all you did & do.

Hey armydog2, may I suggest an unaccompanied stroll around certain parts of Georgetown for that doctor...That should do it, and it saves us the cost of a ticket to Baghdad, or the distraction to the troops of accompanying yet another political hack.

PTSD is a very real problem our Veterans are faced with. This woman should loose her job as coordinator of this program and her liscence as a psycologist. If you think this is not politically motivated look up american enterprise institute. It is a neocon thinktank with cheney''s wife on the board. they have a dr sally satel who is trying to say ptsd is not real and a hippie dream made up by the vietnam Vets.i would love to see this dr ride around bagdad on a humvee for about a month and tell us it didn''t affect her.

I don''t care what the ultimate goal is, our soldiers are putting their lives and futures on the line for US. Never forget that. You want to take their place, have at it. If not you do not have an opinion that counts. that is it.

Hats off to AaaBee way to go. I like the way you put it. So true and terribly sad. The veterans deserve so much more for all the horrid sacrafices they make daily and the risk they take for us. Amen.

Hey Norma Perez, pendaja!

WHY is this stupid person still employed by the VA?

The corruption continues...the stupidity of the U.S. military continues...the troops continue to get fed a line of B.S. -- and nothing is done.

I suggest dressing Perez up in a mini skirt and sticking a Star of David around her neck and dropping her off in an Iraqi or Afghani village, and let her experience an "adjustment disorder" first hand.
