Home depot, is still alot better than lowes (I really would rather call it BLOWES). Blowes sucks everyone, they don't stand behind what they sell. You by a lawnmower or power washer, it doesn't work right. They tell you tough luck. I took a dewalt 18 volt drill back to the depot a year after I bought it, they replaced it on the spot, no questions asked. I like home depot.

Somebody got all huffy about blaming Bush. You have to admit that people tend to emulate their leaders and other "heroes".

Given the fact that Bush, Cheney, & Gonzo LLP have not exactly succeeded in portraying themselves as paragons of honesty and integrity, is it so inappropriate to suggest that they don't make the best role models?

And to fear that some of the more weak-minded in America might look at their example and also conclude that you can do anything you want, as long as you deny having done it or, failing that, say "I can't remember" 70 or so times?

I agree with arealtexan. Companies get all kinds of incentives to exclusively retail certain products. Thats fine with me becuase it usually means a lower cost for everyone. But individual management getting kickbacks--while tempting--is still pretty unethical and obviously inappropriate.

Honestly, I think the management at HOME DEPOT on the store level is pretty lame. I like the company as a whole, but whoever picks their store managment team must be smoking crack. They are some of the ugliest, weirdest, stores I have been in. They could be a great company if someone showed some LEADERSHIP--that rare quality found in our President and a few brave conservative members of our government.

These big box retailers lure in customers with the promise of good prices, a wider selection of products, and good service. Usually, it turns out, the consumer Ends up with LIMITED selections based on what products they decide they want to force-feed their customers. And what quality, and at what price. I have been countless times to Home Depot and they usually dont have the right kind of light bulbs I need for instance, or product I am looking for. And service? Don't expect any. They cannot even maintain any semblance of inventory control.

I wonder why it is that by the time I get my news summary from CBS the discussions have denegrated to the point of name calling, finger pointing, and sounding like a bunch of idjits who only recently escaped from the funny farm, goodness, can't we stick to the issue at hand?

These purchasing managers did what a lot of companies do, and if the company had been the one taking the money it would be perfectly OK. Do you know why Barbie gets endcap space all of the time at Toys R Us? Because Matel pays TRU for the space. Do you know why KC Masterpiece is one of the best selling bbq sauces on the market? Because the manufacturer pays Wal-Mart, A&P, Safeway, HEB, Kroger, etc. for shelf space.

Home Depot fired these guys because they want their cut and they weren't getting it, it's that simple.

So....What's New! I would be happier if this news involved the FDA and Big Pharma. It will never happen because that would be a thousand times larger than Home Depot with their 2000 stores and the bigger the fraud the more important and notable are the individuals involved.

One of these fine days a brave and bullet proof media company will expose them, saving many lives.

The breaking of this "scandal" will make the check-out line move faster how?!

The breaking of this "scandal" will make a Home Depot associate come to my assistance how?!

The breaking of this "scandal" will help make their customer service better how?!

Unless it affects the millions of past, present, or future customers of Home Depot...

...why the h.e.l.l even bother reporting this krap!

THIS STUFF GOES ON ALL THE TIME IN RETAIL! THIS IS NOT NEWS!
