"hoseobama, No, i don't mind you asking...but, listen up, I'm only going to say it once.

CresentGirl - Why wouldn't you want to repeat the above more than once ? From your perspective it would be true.

Your comment: "If you don't mind me asking, why do Muslims remain silent to the terrorists that claim to represent them ? "

Your comment is incorrect, Muslims do not remain silent in their condemnation of terroristic attacks. There are plenty of Muslims out there that condemn the terrorist attacks from Muslim world leaders...like Queen Rania to local groups in the U.S. like ISNA.

CresentGirl - that's odd - our media never metions them. Maybe our problem is our media ?

But, the problem is that people such as yourself do not have your ears, mind or heart open and continually state this lie about the Muslim community.

CresentGirl - why do you assume I lie ? I merely asked a question, and as I have indicated above - I don't control the media.

"There are soo many different types of Muslims out there from all different walks of life and ethnic diversities. There are good Muslims and there are bad Muslims...just like any other faith group...be that Christians, Jews or something else.

Totally agree. Can you see why I would ask the question I did ? There is not much on CBS, NBC, FOX, or any other western News agency. And, frankly, as political as they can be, they don't typically lie in unison.

The key for people such as yourself to understanding Muslims and Islam is to open your heart and your mind and not just let ignorance guide your views.

I have had a few Muslim acquaintences, at work. They have approached me often during break to ask my opinion about something bothering them, as I have tried to befriend them, but I have never felt a complete sence of trust or true frienship.

My suggestion would be to make a few Muslim friends or visit a local Islamic center, and you will see the majority of Muslims are just like you. (maybe minus the ignorance). - posted by crescentgirl

Please - can we keep this nonpersonal. I'm quite educated, and find the insult to be non-value added towards understanding each other.

LOL... and I REALLY DID laugh out loud! Thank you for your insights. I do not often see assessments here from a Muslim perpsective. Nicely done.

BOEHNER...Since when did agreeing to have a dialog with some you disagree with make you look weak???? You are weak when you can't face the problem head on. You are weak when you are not able to see the issue from different sides. You are weak when you are fixiated on your point and will not listen to anyone else. You can't clap with one hand. You NEED to engage the other side!!!!! This president has opened up a discussion and is starting to show a mutually respectful more digified approach towards the rest of the world. It is sad some people just can't see it. Bravo Mr. President for starting this uncomforatble conversation. Hope you will follow through.

"But, I have my doubts that it can happen. I'm asking for milestones - loose ones - tight ones - I don't care. So we can empirically see if the President is making things happen, or is just a great orator. "

I remember a certain Reublican pres who was also know as a great orator, and that allowed him to convince the people to follow him. Yes, Obama is a great orator, but he is also a great thinker. His Arab World Speech was carefully crafted and it would have to be to avoid the land mines of suspicious minds in the Arab world AND here. As for milestones (and I hope they do not turn out to be "millstones"), I think we are seeing them now. The stcok market continues to climb, housing startups are increasing, unemployment is leveling off, as is the number of people receiving benefits. I am sure if he stumbles or if things worsen, you will see his favorability rating drop. Keep and eye on all of these and they should be a reasonable guage.

What have you got ? Anything besides the participants in 9/11 being mostly from Saudi Arabia ? Do they dislike us as much as the Palestinians ?

"48% of this country voted for the other guy so if 4% is a "devastating defeat" as the libs believe then what on earth is considered a narrow victory. "

The GOP lost the white house (by a huge electoral margin, which is how Obama had to run the campaign... if he had had to go for the voters nationwide, he could have made it by a larger margin that 4), Dems increased their majority in the Senate, the House, and Governors. The % of people callling themselves Repubs has dropped below 20 and there is no hint of leadership for the GOP (unless a radio talk show host qualifies). I think most Repub leaders considered it devastating.

dennisall77 - I have agreed with your second statement. I have gone as far as saying it would make President Obama the next Lincoln.

But, I have my doubts that it can happen. I'm asking for milestones - loose ones - tight ones - I don't care. So we can empirically see if the President is making things happen, or is just a great orator.

Why does Obama always apologise. THis would of been a perfect oportunity to ask Saudia to join in the war on terrror. To stop persecuting Bible Thumpers. To give freedom to women. And stop killing gays. But instead Obama is no leader, he is barely a community organizer.

Where have you been? Saudia Arabia HAS been fighting the war on terror...just on the wrong side. And we've been financing it for years.

I think the world's reaction to him so far would make your statement false. Right now most of the world sees him as a ray of hope. Interestingly, the most negative attacks are from the US. But then we need the loyal opposition... we just need them to remember the"loyal" part refers to supporting the US with more than just destructive attacks...

Conservatives are feeling attacked by leftwing whacos who make it up as they go because reality would make those attacks nonsense. 48% of this country voted for the other guy so if 4% is a "devastating defeat" as the libs believe then what on earth is considered a narrow victory. The last eight years policies were drafted and voted on by both sides of the isle it was necessary as niether side had the super majority the DEMs now enjoy yet according to these libs it's all ones sides fault, in fact the dems had the slight majority the last two of those eight years which makes that statement ludicrous. He last eight years that Bush was president the only thing the left did was critisize without realistic suggestions now they arte calling the kettle black despite the unpresedented fillibuster proof control they now enjoy. THey call the Republican party the "party of no" yet they have no ability to say no stop legislation. Denisall77's rant was nothing but skewed persective, allegations and unfounded assumptions yet that diatribe is taken as fact by anyone in agreement with that blather. This is the major cause if divivde.

This country is so extrordinarily lucky and successful and blessed, that is our duty to see it survives as the beacon of hope it had become. People around the world WANT to love and respect us, but we have not made it easy for them recently. Please, let's unify and stop the hate speech. We have a wonderful opportunity and an awesome responsibilty. This is not some high school football game where our side is right no matter what. We are all on the same team, so let's act like it.

Good post. You know, I have to believe that the Hannities and Limbaughs of this world are very distructive to this country. They have big microphones for their limited audience, but the rancor and fervor they whip up day after day serves only to divide.

I know they have the constitutional right of speech, but I sure wish they would stop and think about what they are doing.

I'm not sure you can support your 'only a few' statement in England. But, be that as it may - are you saying that the Islamic world will start turning on these few truly bad ones ?
Posted by hoseobama

1, Perhaps a small percentage (I hope) 2. I think the Muslim world has had few places to turn to for help and Bush made all the extremist statements seem true. I think if we extend honesty, friendship, and an olive branch, the vast majority of Muslims (who are also peace lovers for the most part) will eagerly accept them. And that is a wonderful start, at least, towards stability in the world (but we also have to contend w N Korea and Iran... keep in mind that a cornered animal snarls... perhaps if they did not feel so cornered... but I agree there are some crazy, dangerous leaders out there we may only be able to confront with force and determination..)

"Please! Have a little humility. They probably look at our history and see slavery and mistreatment and murder of Native Americans and the Crusades and Vietnam and lynchings... my god, our history is fraught with evil, but also greatness. Take time to look for some good things about Muslims. They are not all evil just as we are not... even if we have our own religious group who is blamed for murdering doctors, we tend to defend them saying only a few are truly bad. - Posted by dennisall77
