- But John McCain says that "the fundamentals of our economy are strong", and that "we are a nation of whiners" when it comes to the economy!

Unions are Socialism / Communism
That''s what has destoyed America.
Regulations by Our Government has laid out a grid map on ripping people off. (They find loopholes and it makes it legal)
Democrats and Republicans has destoyed our Nation.
They want and encourage hatred of Parties.

- Maybe we should nationalize American Big Oil. Then we use the same price gouging techniques they have to start getting us out of financial hot water.

- Cut spending and begin cutting it now. Everything must be on the chopping block. Both Medicare and Social Security are ticking time bombs waiting to explode. The housing mortgage crisis and credit crunch are nothing compared to Medicare and Social Security. It seems all these politicians want to do - both Dems and Repubs - is create new programs. Well, that''s what got us into this debt to begin with.

- Well I guess this mess falls squarely on the shoulders of the greedy profiteers who own Bush. Oh wait, the start of this problem began during the Clinton years and continued until Bush could could show us how to really screw things up. These companies should just take their losses so we can go through the inevitable recession and get it over with. The people of the United States did not intend to pay taxes simply to turn it over to the greedy. It simply turned out that way.
Bush can''t get out of this one even if he shows of a fake "captured" Ben Laden before the election. What we need is to start looking for a new party to replace the Republicans and scare the hell out of the Democrats. - Reply to this comment
- I think we just found out the free market so free so free after all.

- If the Harvard business school didn''t help George make a success of his oil company that Osamas brother gave him the money to start, why would it help him run the country? Bush is just doing what he has done all his life, spend other peoples money and go back for more. Spoiled rich kids do it all the time.

- funzie50''s right. The Dems should have to answer for the last two years and the Republicans for the last what was it, six or more?

- Well isn''''t this just special! Our fearless leaders have done just a swell job of burying us and the president doesn''''t think we''''re in trouble. I have a suggestion that maybe our elected officials be accountable and we force them to give up all the benefits; travel, meals, social, medical and retirement that they pay nothing into. I''''ve asked for a long long time where are we getting this money to pay for what we''''re doing. I guess we just sell more of my country to the Chinese and Arabs!!!! Elections are coming folks...what are we going to do??

ABSOLUTELY! They can hand over all their monies and secret bank accounts as well! And we SHOULD vote them out of office---no question about it!

- The real problem here is the banks that AIG insures. They have created this mess by buying the derivatives that are now taking them under.
and, copyat5, it''s all horsepatooty on both sides. Any candidate who states that he/she will get our troops out of Iraq as soon as elected is either outright lying or is ignorant to the situation. To leave would make us responsible for a massive civil war; no responsible president will do that. Not to have gone in would have made us responsible, at least in our non-action, for the deaths of many untold thousands of innocent Iraqis who were already suffering under the madman. There were people in this country in 1939 who said "leave Hitler alone, it''s not our fight" .. had we followed their advice, Hitler would have killed another 6 to ten million innocents. - Reply to this comment
- Who Will Bail Out U.S. indeed!? In 1976, while I was a national director for the national Republican Congressional Committee, the Ford Budget for FY''77 had submitted a $50 Billion Deficit. I turned to my boss (now a well-known D.C. Lobbyist and all around GOOD GUY!), and asked, "Why don''t we DO what we SAY we are (Republicans) and BALANCE the Budget?"
My boss said, "they''ll never do it." We asked OMB and sure enough they REFUSED to balance the budget.
In several weeks, President Ford LOST the election to Gov. Carter. When Jimmy Carter took office, he raised the deficit to $75 Billion, and OH did the Republican establishment ATTACK HIM for being Wasteful and a "liberal..." etc.
What a bunch of HYPOCRITES!
I QUIT the Republican Party BECAUSE of issues just like that one. And, today LOOK at the economic CRIMES committed BY Republicans at both ends of Pa. Avenue!!
This was planned and caused by Wall Streeters who have made BILLIONS in their pockets, whlie sending US, the suckers on Main Street, the bill for it...AGAIN. And, the Republicans AND Democrats are all saying that the bail-outs are "necessary."
B.S. What IS necessary is the JAILING of those criminals who have just caused the greated $5 Trillion HEIST in American history!
Time to start taking names and taking people down and out. We Americans owe nothing to the Wall Streeters or the criminals in the U.S. Government who have caused this.

- I wonder how much McCain wishes he''d selected Mitt Romney for his "experienced" running mate? But Palin does have a great view of Russia. That can''t be all bad.

- If you look back, you''''ll see that John McCain has NEVER taken a position, and stood by it. NEVER.
He''''s changed his position on EVERY SINGLE ISSUE, that he''''s ever faced.

- 24hrs ago McCain was against a tax payer bail out of AIG... I heard him say it!!!
This morning he was in favor of it. How am I to know what his economic plan is if he keeps changing his positon on it?
I mean I assume he had good reason to be against it before he was for it.......
