- Hi. I belong to a group called Victims of Bendectin, Debendox, Lenotan & Diclectin on Facebook. We are the children affected by Bendectin here in the US 30+ years later. We are wondering if there is anyone at 60 Minutes who is interested in doing a story on us and a detailed "re-cap" of what transpired in the 80s and early 90s with Bendectin. We all would also like to see the story 60 Minutes did in 1982 or 83 in regards to Bendectin but was never aired. We have so many questions, concerns and we are demanding answers. We won't stop until we have a clear understanding of what truly happened to us. Will you please help us ? Thank you for your time to read this. -Shawn

- Morly, your latest report regarding the Times-Picayune really pissed me off. I have never yell and curse at the TV but your report really got me going.
Let me say that the Newhouse family is the worst example of a carpetbagger. They state that a print newspaper is not a viable business model. Additionally, Jim Amoss is a but kissing troll in the vein of the worst of the Vichy French.
I'm not sure how the Newhouse family thinks their online edition is going to make them money because if you reviewed what their site offers, at best, it is one of the worse and confusing digital news media sites on the web.
For example, you get a bi-line for a reporter's article but really it isn't an article but a bunch of links to other reporting. It's right down there with ESPN. If the TP is such a losing proposition why won't they sell it - a point you brought up but was not really answered by that smug & smarmy Mr. Amoss.
If I'm going to lump the owners and management of the TP into a group of what is wrong with America, it's right there with FEMA after Katrina, any sandbagging property & casualty insurance company doing business after a hurricane (see reports on Sandy complaints regarding insurance companies) and Roger "The Commish Who Would Be GOD" Godell.
Rest assured I'm not complaining about the content of your story or your reporting - it's just the subject matter brings the blood of every NOLA resident to a boil. The TP is gone and I, personally, refuse to support their lean print edition, their website or their advertisers (not that I actually know who they are since I don't subscribe to their morose digital offering.
Can't help myself with this post.
Regards,

- Morley, I loved the two week interview with David, as a history teacher I love his attention to detail and research when he writes his books. I totally agree we are raising a nation that doesn't know it's history and I would like to offer another reason not mentioned, the Congressional act called "No child left behind". In NCLB, math and reading are deemed important and that throws the other things, art, Social Studies, music etc. into the less important category. I am President of the Iowa Council for the Social Studies which is run by volunteers who love our subject and it has been an uphill battle to push for the importance of history and government in our schools, especially elementary schools. I believe there would be less people in the tea party movement if they truly understood our history and how our government does work.

- Love you Morley! Please don't forget about the Paramedics!
In your last segment of the last show, you mentioned everyone that helped during Hurricane Sandy. You never mentioned anything about the Paramedics and EMT's that have responded, and continue to respond from across the nation. These folks directly care for all the patients in need directly and with passion.
The reason I mention this, is that these professionals are often overlooked, but always offer the most incredible care and are a vital resource in disasters, not to mention a vital resource in everyday situations. They are always overlooked. Why is this?
Without the Paramedics and EMT's, people in need will have difficulty in acquiring immediate professional medical attention, and being transported to the higher appropriate medical care.
These folks are life savers that don't look for glory, but are often dismayed at the lack of public support when compared to other services. These folks save lives and are a vital resource in our nation. Please recognize them! - Reply to this comment

Was listening to you tonight at the end of 60 Minutes, and your final comment was pretty close to what I said to my wife this morning. I phrased it a little different, my comment was it seems we need a national disaster every couple of years to bring out the best in America. I'm proud to be an American, and things like the response to Sandy make me even prouder, but in 6 months most people will forget and we'll be back to what has become business as usual. How we change that I don't know, as the American people have become more and more cynical. I wouldn't live anywhere else, I just feel bad for my kids, as America has changed in the last 20 years, and not especially for the good. - Reply to this comment

- Been watching 60 minutes for years and certainly enjoy it. And maybe it's ironic that I feel informed (not more informed) by watching HBO's Newsroom. Retrospective news. OK, it's biased and I've never voted republican since my first vote for McGovern so it's no surprise that I like it. As a former steward, it's obvious why. But I feel this election is over with the voter id laws that have been put in effect in Florida, Wisconsin, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Where is the national exposure? Did I miss it during the Olympics or is it forthcoming. Having the smug Norquist on is not enough. He never broke a sweat.
Why not an hour on the new Jim Crow laws brought to us by the republican party to rig the election? - Reply to this comment
- Sir: I watched your interview with the Madoff's and the son's girlfriened. The only question I have is why would you have done this episode. You used to be a good reporter.

- mr safer, i just watched the mdddoff segment and am wondering what redeeming value this huge priviledge afforded the maddoff's in the form of such premier exposure to tell their story has to anyone besides them and cbs. what did anyone get out of these interviews besides them and corporate cbs. if the segment was never broadcast would poeple have really missed anything. in fact wouldn't the victims have been better served not to air the episode. where is their opportunity to tell their tragic stories. instead they had to listen to these people's stories that mean nothing to anyone except them. mrs. maddoff's story about suicide is laughable. where is the proof? no note, no hospital visit, just took the pills (can't say how many, maybe two) and just woke up. how implausible. shame on cbs for giving them the stage. my sympathy to the victims who will never get the same consideration.

- Mr. Safer,
I have to admit that I was shocked that you used the phrase "he hung himself" when referring to Bernie Madoff's son. So often I hear the word hung used on television, most recently on NCIS (although David McCallum said "hanged" one of the other characters said "hung." I attribute this to characterization in a TV show - that maybe the person speaking isn't supposed to know that when talking about a person, the past tense is "hanged" but I would have thought that you and 60 Minutes would have known better. Please be sure to correct this in the future. - Reply to this comment
