I remember back in 1977, I saw commercials on KVOA TV in Tucson Arizona for injecting Polyurea Formaldehyde Foam into the wall space for insulation to keep the house cool and keep the electric bill down. After a few years, people got sick and Polyurea Formaldehyde Foam was banned! There were many lawsuits. It is like no one is in charge in Washington DC, no one seems to care enough for long enough to make sure the same thing does not happen again. The US Government seems to have a collective conscious like a Bees Hive, but has no one individual who oversees and guarantees that important laws are enforced. Why is the trailer industry still using Formaldehyde? I was told it was outlawed!

IMPORTANT Question : What building materials use that Chemical "FORMALDHYDE", why is it used in building materials in the first place ? Its not just those trailers we all need to be Really Concerened about, what about all these Double-Wide Mobile Homes and these New Pre-Fab houses that come in sections their trying to sell all over the country. Has anybody looked or tested any of these structures as well to see if theres a problem, besides these trailers ?? This may go way deeper than just the trailers that FEMA has supplied, we should be concerened about these other structures too !!! anywhere in the US. We all should be concerened, about this aspect !

I agree absolutely, if people have been stupid enough not to recognize that the cost of their real estate values have far exceeded the wages the free market determines they should earn then Jack Abramhoff was right, stupid people deserve to lose. For those that have been keeping up on their insurance policies for years on end, how dam*n dumb are these morons anyway. They should have been smart enough to have funded their own private insurance plan. Any savvy business person knows you cannot put your trust in the government or anyone else for that matter. It's a dog eat dog world. Human beings are out to get each other. Just watch the news. Everyone is killing each other.

Dear 18c6,
You are either not up on the economics of our country, a member of the FEMA Trailer Community, or in need of medication.. that by the way you can't get because the government spent all the money on a broken down welfare system and created such disasterous programs as FEMA.
Either way.. you seem to REALLY like attention. So I REPOSTED your response so more people might notice your "wonderful" outview that I think MIGHT be suppose to be humorous...
OHHH.. and because it will give you something else to RESpond to!!! :D
RUN WITH IT..RUN LIKE THE WIND...

I cannot believe the insensitivity of some of the comments. Katrina was indeed a natural disaster, but its toll was made worse by the fact that our government was not prepared to deal with it( they were and are still fighting the wrong war), the National Guard was not there to help, FEMA proved to be totally incompetent, and contracts for reconstruction were given to politically affiliated companies who hired illegal immigrants at slave wages instead of hiring the locals, insurance companies tried to not pay...But I would like to know where Fema bought the trailers, who produced them, and if by any chance, the company FEMA bought them from has any politicl connections...the investigation should go deeper, much deeper.

Ok, I will be the bad guy here. No one else want to come right out and say this. It's been 2 years!!! If you arent happy get out and fend for yourself. These trailers were NOT supposed to be your perminent home. They are temporary until you find a job and get a home of you own. I am so sick and tired of people living on the government's dime (my hard earned tax dollars) and then complaining about it not being good enough. Get off you butts, get a job and find a home of your own--paid for with your own money. Beggers cannot be choosers!!

I CANNOT BELIEVE the GALL of some people! THEY have lived off the Government for over a YEAR and NOW they want to complain? Volunteers from 911 cannot get help from the government.. but because a NATURAL disaster hit OVER A YEAR ago these people are ENTITLED to funding/ housing etc. THIS IS WRONG. If these people do not appreciate the FREE housing they have.. MOVE.. get a Job and GET OFF THE GOVERNMENT Check!!!
And If YOU think they "deserve it".. Then YOU pay for them.. I'm tired of it!

Me too, I agree, patching the infrastructure of New Orleans and New York are a waste of tax payer money although the money is helping fund the private sector contractors of globalization which is good. Still it wouldn't be good business practice to patch around on an antiquated manufacturing facility nor is it good business practice to invest in the people of this country nor it's aging infrastructure. Good business practice would recognize the new infrastructures of Dubai and much of China make much better business since for the global community of private capital to invest in.

This is great.....lets make lawyers lots of money over nothing...
I call on congress to pass a law disbanding FEMA and just let these idiots drown. When you try to help them, they sue you. These trailers have been manufactured the same way for decades. FEMA did not set you to make you sick, you were that way before you moved in....get over it.

Yeah death to FEMA and any government program. People should be successful enough to afford to get themselves out of a pickle. If not, then evolution/natural selection will take care of the poor trash. Hell, those trailers are no doubt better than the trailers they were living in before. I'm sure it's working out better for most of them.

Big government and FEMA are to blame. The company that manufractured them needs to declare bankruptcy, divest and reinvest in the private global economy of the new world order.

New world order. I seem to recall these were Hitler's exact words. I really hope you are one of the first sacrifices...bet you'll be found hiding behind some kids. Nationalism is about over here. Welcome to the suburb of Mexico. Oh yeah, the age of consent is 12 there. You'll have to add that to the new world order as well.

It is ingenious. Chertoff will hold a position in the global private sector and the private manufacturere might declare bankruptcy or change it's name, divest and reinvest in the new global enconomy. A delightful way to preserve capital. The isolationists can sit around and whine about their government all they want but the capital it generates from taxation for the private global ecnomy is grand. Dubai is where it's at, it's a new infrastructure. It's time for a new world order and rid private capital of the burdens of individual nationalist governments.

On Charlie Rose, Henry Kissinger recently said that a problem for western nations is getting the people to sacrifice. Sacrifice must be done, get over the silly nationalism. It's the new world order.

Fema!!!Way to go Chertoff your doing a great job. When was hurricane Katrina now ? Oh yes 2 years ago and people are still living in these boxes. What about all that ice you are now paying someone to dispense. What was the total figure? first you paid to store it for two years and now you are paying a company to dispose of it, what do you care it is our money heck. If someone doesn't audit your dept i for the life of me does not understand. Look how you dispersed monies to states for security I can not believe how you are getting away with all this and if we do have a terrorist attack well I'll let you who read these posts decide

Okay, now we have another government lawsuit in the works. Watch this one. More ways to screw Uncle Sam from the land of the levees. Edwards must be working his magic down there. All slip and fall candidates know how to milk the system. Why, hey, didn't I tell you socialized medicine would lead to government euthanasia? Well.

Stupid government takes the hit every time...foolish public endeavors.

The companies declare bankruptcy, divest and reinvest into new global markets...ingenious. Like Jack Abramhoff said, stupid people deserve to lose. The people of this country who think they can maintain a representative government are fools. Private capital in a free market society is the smart way to go plus it sounds much better. The word free always sounds good. It's the best word to use in marketing any product.

Where is the problem? After all the FEMA trailers were manufactured by the same people using the same methods and materials used in K-12 schoolchildren's "mobile" classrooms used throughout the nation. School Districts all over the USA will be, if they haven't been already, sued blue for endangering our children's health and the consequent degredation of the health of young adults upon whom Americans depend for staffing the National Guard, Army, Navy, Marine, Coast Guard, and Airforce, plus the far more important Border Patrol local law enforcement, and firefighting elements of National Security.
Millions of children have been sickened and no one has cared. But some 80,000 illegal aliens in FEMA trailers along the Gulf Coast complain and all of a sudden Congress gets involved?!!! Where has "our" Congress been?
