Mr. Felling, I can''t thank you enough for providing a BALANCED look at the Ron Paul phenomenon. As a Paul supporter, I have had to watch helplessly as many members of the media cut down one of the only honest politicians in Washington. They often use terms like "fringe" or "long-shot" to describe Dr. Paul and, indeed, many others. It''s refreshing to see a journalist who actually took the time to give Paul a fair shake. Much appreciated!

I will contribute more on Sunday than I did on the 5th... Gold is way above $800 and I bought it in June, when i first heard of Ron Paul!

AWESOME NEWS CBS - I love the 16th seed analogy... I will make sure this #16 seed wins the tourney!

I still ask that RP supporters boycott CBS and their sponsors after the article yesterday by CBS''''s Kevin Drum.

Thank for being fair and unbiased in you article. It is refreshing to see reporters who leave there personal agendas at the door much like Ron Paul does. If he''s elected it will be invigorating for America to have a President who stands upon the principles of Liberty for All instead of his/her own personal agenda. Unbiased - Thank You.

"newly-validated Ron Paul . . ."

Money talks, yes; and I hope the longshot-defamation will cease now.

Good article, quite a turn-around from yesterday''s CBSnews.com piece on Ron Paul. Your article balances positive and pessimistic views of the campaign, and uses sources and evidence to back it up. Yesterday''s CBSnews article on "Political Animal" was a ridiculous rant whose author was apparently angry that people were giving to the Paul campaign, and saying "stop being children. grr!!"

Just curious, what caused the change?

Thanks for the correction!
You are a much more responsible journalist (and better writer) than CBS''s Kevin Drum, who is afraid of allowing comments on his "article" about Ron Paul.

CORRECTION TO THE FOLLOWING:
Paul%u2019s campaign tied the fundraising drive to %u201CGuy Fawkes%u201D day
---------------------------
Although Ron mentioned (in a few different places) what his *supporters organized, the Fifth of November website was put up by *supporters and rallied by them as well. Ron Paul did not "tie the fundraising drive to Guy Fawkes Day", nor commemorate an attempt to blow up Parliament. The tie-in was generated by American citizens who want change.

I know that is not what you "SAID", but it is certainly not clear that you are aware of the difference.

Thank you, Matthew!
What a fresh perspective of the momentum of the Ron Paul campaign, as well as an analysis of the November 5th event that doesn''t drone on about Guy Fawkes Day being any more than a satirical choice of date to use and nothing more than that. I look forward to reading more.

One wonders if you did any research at all before writing this article. The entire point of the November 5th donation was that it was not organized by Dr. Paul''s campaign, rather it is a demonstration by the people that believe in his message that their candidate deserves to be heard. The mainstream media has ignored Dr. Paul and, when they could not ignore him, have done their best to belittle his chances. November 5th was the day when the people of this country announced their opinion as to whether he was a serious candidate. You don''t call us for your "scientific" polls, so we let you know we''re here the only way we could.

Actually, the entire effort, site, promotion, and donation for the 5th of November were of the people and by the people with absolutely no ties to Paul''s campaign.

Ron Paul fans run their race the way they believe the government should be run... displaying more success with little oversight or governance.
