Dear Ms. Mason, here's a clue. And I won't even charge CBS a finder's fee. When you decide CBS News needs viewers and credibility again and dump Ms. Couric, there are some (female) journalists who understand news and national/world affairs: Gwen Ifill, Candy Crowley, Barbara Starr and even (ugh!) the hopelessly biased Judy Woodruff. I could go on, but you get the point. Notice that none of them has stained her pedigree with morning television. BTW, yes, I'm male. No, I'm not white (I'm black). I'm also a former journalism major/political science minor. Since you insist on calling the program The CBS Evening News, hire a news person to anchor it. And please don't even think of Anderson ('I feel the news for you') Cooper.

Newsflash for CBS:

Albert Einstein once said that Insanity was doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results, which aptly describes the mainstreat media. You folks are so patently shallow and elitist, with such inflated egos (its a wonder you don't float off the planet)buttressed by liberal "group think," that you could not be more clueless.

The problem at CBS is Les, Katie, Linda Mason and the rest of the cabal of empty suits, not the viewing public. You and the all the other left wing media outlets are simply rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, while steering a course directly for the icebergs.

Bon Voyage......

I believe all three networks are biased, but CBS has the stigma of being the most biased of the three. (Dan Rather no doubt has something to do with that.) Bob Schieffer was beginning to bring some credibility back, but Katie oozes a bias that neither Brian Williams or Charley Gibson do. If I felt she wasn't just a prettier rendition of Dan Rather, I'd probably give her more of a shot. At times I have tried to watch but invariably she is doing everything in her power to promote her (or CBS's ?) agenda. Get a little balance back in your reporting and maybe people will give you another chance.

Sorry "guys"! The reason why Katie Couric is a disaster is because she is not believable, she is not a journalist, she is phony and she sucks. Morning fluff is about all she should do! It has absolutely nothing to do with old white guys! I am a woman and I can think of many other women that would have at least had a chance to succeed with a serious news broadcast. She...is...horrible. PERIOD.

Regarding the post by geraldled at 03:49 PM : May 11, 2007: whose boots are YOU licking in the CBS executive suite? (earlier post at bottom(""))

I perceive Katie to lack journaistic integrity. she also seems to possess little or none of the necessary gravitas for the job at hand.

"Rich, but 'dumb as a box of rocks'" is a phrase that instantly springs to mind when I hear her name. CBS needs to raid Fox ...or even CNN for anchor"person" grade talent. Prudent actions, not blithering advertising will stem the declining ratings of CBS Evening News

""Statisticians create numerical data to give a quantitative measurement. Commentators with an agenda give qualitative, precise and not accurate ,data. The standard at CBS, is to report the news fair, and accurately. When informing the public of hard, or breaking news in which CBS news has all the credentials of obtaining, Katie not only does an excellent job reaching vast audiences throughout our country via the television, internet, and radio, but the stories are thoroughly accurate, her composure is transparent despite whatever the nature of the news is and she keeps her objective poise, and 15 years of interacting with the public is experience worth reading an autobiography on her written by her about. I trust Katie Couric via internet, radio, and television to bring me the news. "

What I'm wondering is how the Nielson ratings are actually calculated - because I'm surprised that ANYONE watches her.

Do they count TVs that are left on while the people do other things? I'm just trying to understand why anyone at all watches this phony.

How much longer will America have the luxury of blaming every failure immaginable on white males?

Soon the total failure of leadership or logic in a womanized America must be faced.

How quickly after the equal rights act of 1964, blacks returned to the jungle with their violence and disdain for education.

The proper placement of blame needs to return or the enormous problems we face will never be solved.

So Katie has gone down a little in the ratings. Here's a poll you should take: What percentage of the public has a visceral hatred of this newscaster? I'd bet that the other network newscasters wouldn't even register, most cable people wouldn't register that much (maybe Larry King [surprisingly] and Bill O'Reilly [definitely - bully]).

But you know what - Katie Couric elicits visceral hatred from a lot of people. A privileged, pompous idiot. All that is unfair in life with an idiot getting so much money for pasting on her phony smile.

I think a poll of that type would be overwhelmed with comments.
