Flew Sea-ORD-DCA on Thursday 10/18. Both flights delayed. SEA-ORD delayed to a medical emergency. Then delayed again after we pulled from gate and to tarmac due to "load imbalance" and something to do with paperwork and then a computer error. Did not return to gate nor did any ground crew approach the plane. This additional delay was curious. Became more curious when I met a couple at ORD who stated their flight from San Jose to ORD was tarmac delayed due to same exact excuse. Is this a serious communication issue between ground crews and pilots or a way to cause disruption?

Flying in to LAX Saturday 10/6/12 pilot slammed on the brakes as many people have reported. It was like being in the car with my drunk and anrgy uncle. Then, my connecting flight to Phoenix one hour later, the pilot, a big tall testosterone poisoned white male, came storming through the cabin to get his bag and left the plane, leaving a full plane ready to make an on-time take off just sitting there. We had to de-plane and wait for a pilot. Missed connection in Phoenix. Spent night in airport. Initially was just flying to Phoenix to escort my eight year old daughter back to California. Had to rebook the return trip. Total cost? $1800 American Airlines agent said, "Our contract with you requires us to get you from point 'a' to point 'b' and we fulfilled that obligation."

Steer clear of AA! You do not have my sympathy pilots! So what if the mechanics have a greivence now, what are they going to do, start losening nuts and bolts and severing fuel lines? We were all loaded with new pilot and then the flight attendent could not get the door to close...Hmmmm???

Never ever again. I will walk before I get on another American Airlines plane.

The pilots should be ashamed of themselves. What they are doing is cowardly and pathetic. They are disrupting the lives of thousands of innocent victims who have nothing whatsoever to do with their dispute with management. We are even more powerless than they are to do anything. What they are doing should be criminal or at the very least tortious. They are costing thousands of people much wasted time, aggravation and money. We have all suffered through a bad economy and pay cuts recently. I didn't act like a 3 year old and throw a temper tantrum and go break stuff and make innocent people suffer for my job dissatisfaction. I just kept doing my job, lived with the pay cuts until the company got back to being healthy enough that they could bring us back to where we were before. What they are doing is reprehensible and will only serve to turn the sentiments of everyone against them. They have literally stolen a day of my life unnecessarily. What they are doing is tantamount to whipping the serfs to punish the king. Shame, shame, shame on you all.

Lukeisajock,
Wow those are some really harsh words against a group of 8,000 folks that you dont know. You dont know any of the details or facts that have lead to the current issues. You stated," Keep doing the job, live with paycuts .... that is exactly what happened. In 2003, the pilots argreed to 30% pay cuts, any a great deal of other concessions to "save" the airline and keep in out of BK. All the while....the top execs have been taking home millions in bonuses. It has been 9 years....its time for industry standard wages....nothing more....nothing less.

Sorry to hear that AA stole a day from your life. How do you think the employees feel?

What exactly are the pilots doing that is cowardly and pathetic???? They are doing thier jobs...by FAA regualtions. That is not criminal.

Have a blessed day,
Betsy ( wife of an AA Pilot)

For those of you offering a different perspective....Thanks!

To Steve-o-l,
If as you stated, " all I know is my flight was cancelled"... well then listen to yourself. You dont even know why is was cancelled,,, for sure.

To say that you are clueless and arrogant...would be kind.

Please fly another airline...maybe one like ValueJet, and they can land you in the FL everglades.

You Moron

Why don't managers ever take pay cuts?

Why always the workers?

Delta, which bought Northwest... noting Northwest freely took corporate welfare (like any of them don't) and won't pay back... how much longer can our country afford to give these corporations free rides, which are not free but paid for by workers?

Motivation = money.

No money = no motivation.

If motivation is desired for no money in return, there's a problem somewhere. Who has taken cuts in the past, and at what point are x number of cuts too many?

Shareholders just put in other peoples' money and demand a return on it, even if work must be devalued. Most shareholders have no clue about these pesky little details, either...

But who said work is valued? Work is a cost to be lowered. In the new normal.

You need to take ownership of your own ignorance if you book and travel on American Airlines these days.

Everyone knows this was coming. The media has been reporting for months that management has made it very clear they intend to cancel the pilot's contract... this despite the company making money, the executives flush with 8 figure compensation packages, and the company coffers full to the tune of $5.15 billion in UNRESTRICTED cash.

Yet they want the pilots to pay even more than they have over the past 10 years? You'd have to be a complete idiot to travel on American these days. I have no sympathy for any stranded or delayed passengers. Wake up and take responsibility for your own decisions. You do have a choice who you travel on these days. SWA pays pilots well, no labor problems, same with Hawaiian, Alaska, Delta and Spirit. I would avoid UAL, USAir, AA and Frontier. You can't beat labor to a pulp and then expect them to give a crap about their job.

Common sense.

Absolutely!

But management can always find novel ways to get rid of workers and bring in others willing to work for less...

The weak enslave themselves.

A lot of the tea party people, who wave the big butch flags, do little more than jingoism. Never mind how wrong they are about what they want cut, since they're using the same programs they decry... and that they're old, they see no need for education and other things they no longer have any need FOR... they're so selfish they're unable to think outside the box, much less think...

Now wonder why our economy is in the outhouse. Work has devalued so spending, naturally, goes down. Take out the wages and good, hardworking people suffer. Politicians obfuscate and scapegoat. And they are claimed to represent this country?!!

I was one of those unlucky passengers on a flight from Dallas which was scheduled to leave 8:10 pm on September 28. Before boarding the aircraft, there was a delay due to a "maintenance" issue for 20 minutes. Once we boarded the aircraft, the pilot snidely advised there was a wet seat cushion which required attention before departing. 60 minutes later a maintenance person boarded the aircraft and replaced 1 seat cushion on a seat in an empty row in the rear of the aircraft. When the plane landed in Indianapolis at 12:00 am (now September 29) the pilot braked hard and often in an apparent attempt to cause premature brake wear. And to top the experience off, the pilots didn't even wait around to greet the passengers as we departed the plane.

Who said anyone owes you anything?

(Sorry, but I've always wanted to say that line, since most who say it tend to be greedy little pusbags who have zero empathy or care for the workers they berate... but the workers are supposed to be good little slaves, told to be happy, etc... all I wanted to do was use their own comments and 'logic' aimed right back against them... I'm not sure you're the type who says that line, but if you do you now have some new context to consider. There's more than one side to the story...)

Sorry to hear that the pilots didnt wait around to greet you goodbye. I am sure they were rushing to their next flight to write up some more "maintenance" issues, unnecessarily.

Yeah....like the one I heard about today. The aircraft had such severe problems that maintenance took it out "out of service", to the hanger. They had to get another aircraft, and the flight was 3 hours delayed. I would much rather wait 3 hours for a plane that is safe to fly. Would you?

thanks to all the hard working professional mechanics and pilots at AA!!!!!!

When the sh#*t hits the fan, those folks in the cockpit are trained to deal with it. ( Just ask the passengers that landed in the Hudson).

Although, you are certainly entitled to voice your opinion....I just wish you had a small percentage of the 'facts'....no matter how thin a dime....there is two sides.

If you are so unhappy with AA, then please fly another airline.

Good luck
