Don't forget to thank Chris Dodd, after all he was the one who stood up and said there was no need to regulate the banks, and said they were financially sound

LOL Now you see THIS is why you fringe right losers are in the 25%. LOL No one INSTALLED our President you poor small minded human. People went out and voted FOR him in RECORD numbers. It's always someones fault with you people isn't it? Someone HAS to be to blame for you losing... it couldn't be the WORST economic Meltdown in US History or the fact that the Policies of the Confederate Party took us from a Balanced Budget and Surplus to what we are going through... NO! It has to be some conspiracy! LOL Dumb as a bag of hammers!!

You mean the melt down that YOU DEMOCRATS helped create? That melt down. Point all the fingers you want Skyk, but the only dumb one here are those of you who refuse to see the entire picture.

you obviously hate women, and have a major problem.
Blame and hate, vindictiveness, and punishment are NEVER the answer to anything. Dialogue and understanding is.
I feel badly for all those who lost money, but I feel worse for all of you, and society, that is frothing at the mouth , spitting to see some poor old guy and his wife "get theirs". Arn't we all better than this ??
Punishment is for the barbarians.

I agree with Alex Baldwin ( as I do most of the time) that this crazy punishment is way out of line. He should be in prison a few months, and then fess up to all crimes in detail, so as to teach others, and our FEDs how to stop this greed in the first place.
Having him in jail, away from his family does no one any good.

Being Vindictive is as bad - no worse - as being Greedy.

CREDIT IS DUE : the Madoff could have dragged this whole episode out, for years. A quick mea culpa, however landed him in jail for 150 years, and her on the street.

Is this - another ----- no good deed goes unpunished ??

Peopele will be paided off as the paper's do not give full account of all they had and they money she is allowed to keep well sorry but they can't touch it. Let's only hope that the $2.5M gets eaten by her lawyers in defending her civil lawsuits. This woman should be reduced to having to work at a WalMart checkout to earn a living and live paycheck to paycheck - like many of the people her husband swindled will have to do.

To faylabouiver:

WRONG! WE WON'T BE HAPPY UNTIL ALL THE INVESTORS ARE PAID OFF THAT WERE ROBBED BY MADOFF AND CO.!

AND IT MIGHT HAPPEN, FAY! BECAUSE IT SAYS IN THE ARTICLE THAT THOUGH THE FEDERAL PROSECUTORS AGREED TO HAVE THE 2.5 MILLION---IT IS NOT---I SAY AGAIN, NOT---PROTECTED FROM CIVIL LAWSUIT!

THEREFORE, IF I WERE HER, I'D GET OUT OF NYC FAST! AND LIVE A VERY QUIET, UNOBTRUSIVE LIFESTYLE TO LESSEN THE CHANCES OF BEING FOUND, SERVED, AND RULED AGAINST---LOSING THE REST OF THEIR 'BOOTY'!

Well said!

No, and it's not hard to figure out WHY they don't to rent to her!

Would you want to face the possibility of some angry non-paid off
investor coming by your rental and burning it down because SHE lived
there?! I wouldn't, either!

Yeah, if she spends her 2.5 million conservatively there's any number
of foreclosed homes she can buy CHEAPLY at a pittance of their actual
worth, thanks to scum like her husband and other Wall Street crud!

To ABM_21:

You're not talking about the typical "uninvolved" spouse, here!

Remember, she originally WORKED for and with her husband! She's educated, experienced, and well-versed in high finance! It could
be that's why she STAYED with him all these years---that he had
a great scam going and it was too good to walk away from!!

If anyone didn't know about it---maybe the children---but even
then---I remain skeptical! They over hear things as time goes
on and figure things out!

NO, I bet she knew alright!

I hope she has to live in a 5th floor walk up with no A/C and actually work for a living. I hope she has to wear a shirt identifying her for all to know what a piece of scum she is, along with her husband and everyone else involved. I read the stories of the people who have lost everything and they are heart breaking.

There is some question as to whether that 2.5 mil really is off limits. If she is as culpable as I believe she is, she should be left with even less than DouglasLedet (July 2, 2009 10:38 AM PDT) and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Now, though, I will play the devil's advocate. I will assume for the sake of my inner troll that she is completely innocent.....She gets 2.5 million. We find that it is, indeed, untouchable. Let's further assume that all of the other Madoff's are also completely innocent (yeah, I know, I'm really reaching and for all the reasons outlined above - but we're playing "let's pretend").
That is by any stretch of the middle class imagination, an awesome sum of loot. She could buy - cash on the beer keg - a decent three bedroom house in Poughkeepsie or some such and furnish it; a late model Lexus or equivalent, maybe even a second home in the Catskills, stash the remainder in CD's or low risk T-bills and live a 60 to 70K per year lifestyle with out ever leaving her front yard. That is a whole helluva lot more comfortable that most of get to live. She's set for life. There's no need for sympathy and certainly no need for anyone (you know who you are) to defend her so vigorously. She'll do just dandy - IF she's innocent.
