Finalized Deal Gives Italian Automaker Bulk Of Good Assets, Clears Way For Chrysler To Emerge From Bankruptcy
- Good news... now maybe Chrysler will start making quaility products. Hopefully with this new start, they will turn profit and repay every penny they were loaned. The taxpayers want their money back.

- Really, Fiat paid nothing and got our tax dollars or Obama thinks his tax dollars first invested a few months ago in Chrysler forgiven and now they get more money in loans.

- Too many unanswered questions....
1. What will Chrysler shareholders get? (probably zero)
2. How much is Fiat paying for Chrysler's good assets?
3. How much are the good assets worth? (my guess--significantly more than Fiat is paying)
ANALYSIS: First, the U.S. government assumes control of Chrysler. Then....shareholders and the government get stuck with Chrysler's toxic assets. Fiat buys Chrysler's good assets for a low price. WOW, A NEW FORM OF MONEY LAUNDERING. - Reply to this comment

- "The new company will focus on smaller vehicles, areas in which Chrysler was weak.
"Work is already under way on developing new environmentally friendly, fuel-efficient, high-quality vehicles that we intend to become Chrysler's hallmark going forward," the new company said in a statement.
The Italian automaker won't put any money into the deal but will give Chrysler billions worth of small car and engine technology.
Marchionne, in an e-mail to Chrysler employees Wednesday, expressed confidence that Fiat will be able to turn Chrysler around."
Well Obama got his "green" car company. Now all he needs to do is get the price of gas back to $4 per gallon and his w""" dream with Al Gore will be fulfilled.
Gas is already increasing daily, this is no doubt his plan. Higher gas prices on the horizon people. It is his master plan.... - Reply to this comment
- How much has Fiat paid the US taxpayers for this?
Posted by CPelzar
The secured bondholders already paid for this by forfeiting the assets they would normally receive when Chrysler failed. This may a good deal for the taxpayers. Both the bondholders and Fiat are paying for chrysler. It almost sounds like a pyramid scheme by our government.

- I hope this LOSER of a President Obama control the pay of the "looney-left" in Hollywood. They should be limited to $200,000.00 per year, they rest of their monies should go to pay for healthcare everyone else in America?

First you call President Obama a loser and then you endorse Socialism in the same breath. Did the drugs wear off and your waiting for your in-home nurse to shoot you another fix? - Reply to this comment
- Gee, most people forget that GM swallowed up a lot of car companies that had innovation and brand loyalty but not enough marketing and product support. GM standardized the brands it manufactured until the company mis-managed its position
with overseas competition. WWII helped GM, but mismanagement is the key issue.
Chrysler was never structured like GM, and similarly did not answer the overseas competition with a serious effort in the engine technology department. Sorry, but the Italians and the French were very good with that in order to reduce dependence on oil.
So, the race for market forces towards GREEN products and fuel efficient cars is really on....Just what Al Gore was talking about all those years ago when Dubya Bush was campaigning on bringing honor and dignity to the White House, something irrelevant to the real issues in the market. - Reply to this comment
