We are on the verge of a depression, people do not have cash to buy vehicles, banks are not lending for vehicle purchases, this is a band-aid for a gapping wound, only vehicle purchases are going to help and people are not buying. We have car lots here running buy 1 get 1 free, and people STILL are NOT buying.

-That amount of money 300 Billion will last for about 30 months just about the time that GM will start selling the VOLT electric car for $40-45 thousand dollars. That will be the final end of GM and the UAW since the car will sell only with a 10 thousand dollar subsidy. Hang on,the show is about to start.

These are your predictions?

Your fortune teller is drunk and/ or your crystal ball is broke. More taxpayer subsidies will be paid to the US auto industry but they will be used as leverage to produce fuel efficient/ hybrid/ all electric vehicles. Any resistance from the big 3 will risk their extinction, as the US government will cut off any further "bridge loans."

Chrysler will resist any change beyond their current product line. Their owner, Cerberus Capital Management will not invest in product development.

GM will readily comply with anything within their means.

Ford will resist with all their might while they have operating capital.

GM will readily comply

Bush did the right thing. I can only imagine what would have happened if he let the GOP idiots in the Senate shoot themselves, and the party, in the foot...again.

Who Made The AA "Put" Options The Days Prior To 9/11?

The five million dollars generated from the unclaimed 9/11 American Airline put option is truly Chump Change.
The morning of 9/11, US Bonds moved in 3 to 4 minutes by 1.5 points back and forth three times or $1,500 per contract in seconds, three times in less than 4 minutes.

Most institutional traders trade in blocks of 500 to 3,000 contracts. Daily transactions are 350,000 to 400,000 contracts traded. The bond market trading was suspended about one half hour after the attack. When it reopened it moved in several days by 5 points. Someone holding 1000 contracts would have reaped five million dollars using one million. International and domestic stock index futures would have reaped over fifteen million using one million. Guess who made the biggest killing on short international and domestic stock index positions? What one group was holding tens of thousands of Short positions going into 9/11 that reaped about 250 billion dollars in the blink of an eye? Hint! Begins with a G and ends with a T. (Government)
If you look at "WHO" was holding the majority of Short derivative positions on the domestic and international stock index markets prior to 9/11, you will find in that group who was responsible for 9/11.

Wake Up, Droolers......

The 17 Billion of taxpayer dollars is the first down payment to nationalize the Detroit Auto Industry.Upon being sworn in,the new president will provide a minimum of $300 Billion tax dollars (printed) to keep his promise of creating 3 million well paying jobs. The UAW has entered Heaven where unlimited wages and benefits will continue from either the taxpayers or the federal printing press. That amount of money 300 Billion will last for about 30 months just about the time that GM will start selling the VOLT electric car for $40-45 thousand dollars. That will be the final end of GM and the UAW since the car will sell only with a 10 thousand dollar subsidy. Hang on,the show is about to start.

-They did to themselves by making cars that did not sell that. So they make another line of cars and try to tell that line of cars but it did not sell!!!

You''re a damned fool, on here parroting the MSM mantra. Look at this..

http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/autos_content_landing_pages/782/the-years-bestand-worst-selling-cars

From the article-
The F-150 attracted 473,933 buyers this year, making it the No. 1-selling vehicle for 2008--it''s been the best-selling vehicle in America for 27 years running. Another 431,725 buyers drove off Chevrolet lots in a Silverado.

Prosperous, employed Americans ARE buying what THEY WANT. Get a college degree in something marketable. Learn a skilled trade. Aspire to be more than a burger flipper or a Wal-Mart stock boy. Only then, when you can afford quality, can you make a quality comment. Otherwise your poverty stricken comments are worthless.

Why has nothing been reported on the big oil company, appr 1000 employees are being forced to relocate, retire early, or be layed off. Its being done quietly, so they dont attract media attention. Especially after their merger a few years ago that guaranteed this would not happen.

alex1979231 The whole problem with bancruptcy is it is the people that these company''s owe money to, Such as the parts suppliers , they would only get pennies on the dollar and that would more then likely put a lot of them out of business. Sure the union would have to take a pay and benefits cut, and the government would be stuck with the retirement, just like United airlines did. A good friend of mine worked for a vendor that supplied United airlines and after they filed bankruptcy his company went out of business, because the court ruled that they only had to pay back 1/8 of the money they owed to them. And United still has a union, and their executives are still getting bonus''s.

Really? What did they do with them all?

fwiw, car sales are down all over. This is not a car or labor issue, it''s an economic issue.

Get to know it.

And what happens when the big three fail, which they will?

The taxpayer will once again have been hoodwinked into paying for it.

And so it goes..........

People keep on talking about how Detroit is going bust because of the auto industry and that it will totally collapse if no bailout is given. This is totally incorrect! Detroit is dying because of its leaders and poor governance and corruption. Look at the last mayor, who is now in prison - this is the main reason. They keep on electing dishonest and unqualified for leaders, including city council. All those auto workers do not live in Detroit. They had it so good, that most of them are out in the burbs. So stop blaming the demise of Detroit on the auto industry. Until the Detroiters can get their act together, and elect the right leaders, they can cry all they want, but it would not stop the rot.

Bush is dead wrong on this. They did to themselves by making cars that did not sell that. So they make another line of cars and try to tell that line of cars but it did not sell!!! And they keep on doing over and over again and it never work. So they are the ones to blame. UAW is a joke they keep on saying these companys can not go into bankruptcy but they can will come out stronger. They also need to fire all the top ex''s at GM and Chrysler they put there company''s were they are today.

(CBS) Whose life is it anyway? That''s what an increasing number of American workers are asking. Their bosses are replying: Whose business is this anyway?

Correspondent Morley Safer reports the issue is the way we live our lives.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

More and more that cigarette, or drink at home, that political candidate you supported, even your eating habits, are coming under the scrutiny of your boss.

If he doesn''t approve, it might even cost you your job, which is what happened to two Michigan women, Anita Epolito and Cara Stiffler.

Anita and Cara were considered model employees at Weyco, an insurance consulting firm outside of Lansing, Mich., both having worked at the company for years. The women sat side-by-side, sharing workloads - and after work - sharing the occasional cigarette.

But at a company benefits meeting two years ago, the company president announced, "As of January 1st, 2005, anyone that has nicotine in their body will be fired", Anita remembers. "And we sat there in awe. And I spoke out at that time. "You can''t do that to us" And then he said, "Yes, I can". I said, "That''s not legal". And he came back with, "Yes, it is".

And it was legal. In Michigan, there''s no law that prevents a boss from firing people virtually at will. At Weyco, that meant no smoking at work, no smoking at home, no smoking period.

HETUP so slavery is still legal in the south, do you still have to bow when the master comes around. Seems funny that you don''t want northerners in the south, you would rather have mexicans. Well the mexicans would sure keep your standard of living right where it is, and you could start taking siesta''s during the work day.
I read an article not to long ago that the foriegn automakers were going to have to import peole to work in their plants in alabama, because they couln''t get enough qualified workers. I guess people in the south can''t tighten a bolt.
And I''ll bet that if you took a survey of where most of the big 3 workers came from at least 65% came from southern states. Hell Gettlefinger is one of , he''s from kentucky.
