Thank GOD Chambliss won in Georgia! The US Auto industry needs to fail! I''m no GOP, but I agree that GM, FORD & everybody else created this mess. Let them figure out how to fix it. After all, what has that industry ever done but sponsor sporting events & screw consumers with inflated prices and interest rates?!

Automakers vow to slash workers? I thought the bailout was to prevent that? "Okay give us 25 billion dollars and we''''ll layoff everybody?" What kind of crapp is that?

It''s *** for sure & these bailouts are the biggest joke ever. Why we are not a nation pounding down the steps of Congress I have yet to figure out.

Maybe in Texas they do, but not where people have a REAL winter.

Fire all three of those chumps and bring in some real leadership, or no cash.

Them ''''like a rock'''' commercials should read ''''like a god damned moocher''''.

I drove a Chevy for a while. Far too often, it really was "like a rock:" it couldn''t move under its own power.

Well, you must be a city girl then, because most folks know cows mostly feed themselves.

Its a waste of money bailing out these weasels. They''ve had a CENTURY to plan for better cars...better ALTERNATIVE FUEL cars. And they ignored the future. Again: GM CRUSHED thousands of the highly acclaimed EV1. Citizens LOVED it. Say NO to the bailout of Detroit.

And if you seem to think I''''m on here 24/7, how would you know if you''''re not here too?

Posted by RowdynTex at 09:26 PM : Dec 02, 2008

I don''t have to be on here 24/7 to know that you are. I can come on once a day and know that. After I read the articles and scroll through the comments, your name is always there. Morning till night. Not that it''s any of my business of course. I was just curious as to how the cows got fed.:) Have a great night.

I find sad that not one of them included their resignation. After all, it was their leadership that sent their companies down the toilet.

Oh, come off it. We had prosperity then because we had a VERY uneven playing field - IN OUR FAVOR. We cleaned up.

The rest of the world was still rebuilding its industries after we helped demolish them in WW2, in a war we didn''''''''t start but we sure finished. They were buying stuff from us to rebuild.

We had prosperity until they finished rebuilding. Then we had old WW2 vintage factories, and they had shiny new ones with the latest technology.

They started beating our pants off. And they haven''''''''t stopped since.

WE AGREE AGAIN!!! But they caught up with us. Now its our turn to play catch up.

I drove a VW Beetle for 15 years and it looked like new when I sold it, and ran like a charm.

Why doesn''''t somebody design one like that?

Posted by RowdynTex at 08:59 PM : Dec 02, 2008

They did - it''s called the Toyota Tercel. My ''96 is still running like new.

They don''t make it anymore.

We need to embrace new things like we did in the 50''''s and 60''''s.

Nice dream, Grouchy, but prison time doesn''''t seem worth it. However accountability would simply be nice.

WHAT other car makers?

The Big 3 drove them all out of business years ago.

But if there are any, then only the Big 3 get the bailout. The others are too small to bail out.

If they start bailing out small companies, then pretty soon they''''ll have to bail out individual citizens. And we can''''t have that.

Equal treatment is like avoiding conflict of interest. Nobody cares anymore.

One last post tonight. Toyota makes cars in the US. I think (not sure) Mercedes does too.
