Forgive me for spoutin'' off...I let my stream of consciousness loose and, well, sorry. I''ll try to be more aware of people''s sensitivities. But gosh darnnit!
To address the auto industry problem: Neither Democrats nor Rebubicans can easily swallow the truth of the situation, but methinks it inevitable that we gotta do somethin''. Bailouts sicken us all. But our way of life without the American auto is like fish without fins. All us tax-haters (that''s all of us, not just Republicans) can just remind ourselves that taxes do many things, such as making and maintaining the roads we drive our Expeditions on. (Mostly Republicans).
Anyway, none of us are liking this bailout thing but can any one out there come up with some viable alternative solution. Horse and buggy might be one....

The far right is at fault for everything wrong with this country. ... They have control of the media and keep repeating the absurd untruth that the media is liberally biased! Cut the bull! Are you trying to tell me Rupert Murdoch is a liberal? Then so is Rush Limbaugh! Enough with your pseudo-patriotic hogwash! Alas, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, look at what these right-wing goonies have brought our country to!

The far right is at fault for everything wrong with this country. If only our forefathers could see the mess things have become due to the reckless, selfish, elitist, free market thugs who have controlled this country through an almost total lack of government
oversight of corporate bigwigs. They have control of the media and keep repeating the absurd untruth that the media is liberally biased! Cut the bull! Are you trying to tell me Rupert Murdoch is a liberal? Then so is Rush Limbaugh! Enough with your pseudo-patriotic hogwash! Let''s have a depression. It''s the only way to make the super rich suffer some too. Close the country down. Close all the businesses and ship all the jobs overseas. We''ll let the mafia run the country. We can have casinos in every neighborhood. We''ll start escort services and sell bootleg cigerettes. What a great country we''ve become! The far left under Obama will just make it more of a joke. We can hardly wait.

This is an industry which is broken at both the top and bottom. The UAW has not foreseen that they have killed the goose that lays the golden eggs. The management has failed to act in development of new technology (very much like the music industry). now it''s time to pay for that folly. Unfortunately, it will be the citizens of this country who have to pay.

I think that the worst part of the whole thing is that the money they are going to get is just the mortgage of future generations. In fact the government seems to be acting like irresponsible homeowners in the housing meltdown that we have become so familiar with. You cannot spend your way of the hole.

The UAW has sucked the life out of the US auto industry. Since the auto industry affects over a million jobs, I cannot believe the Big 3 and UAW didn%u2019t have the foresight and common sense to make it mandatory for the unnecessary employees placed in the Jobs Bank to retrain for improved skills and education to better utilize them elsewhere within the industry. The Jobs Bank is the most absurd program ever conceived!

I have a strong feeling at the end of yet another dog-and-pony show that our politicians like to put on for the American taxpayers that the auto industry will get all the billions of dollars they want.

The Big 3 management team ought to develop a business relationship with their counterparts at the Honda and Toyota manufacturing plants and get a reality check on how to operate a successful auto manufacturing business.

Again: GM CRUSHED thousands of the highly acclaimed EV1. Citizens LOVED it. Say NO to the bailout of Detroit.

Yah, that''s a classic example. The USA could have been the WORLD LEADER in hybrid cars. Instead they''re promising one next year, as they struggle to revive a program that they SHREDDED five years ago.

I also wanted to add, that my Great Grandpa was Henry Fords right hand man at Ford Motors and he even built Henry Fords house in Michigan, yet in the last years of his life he was disgusted with Ford Motors corporate takeover and actions abroad.

The only positive thing that I can see from a bailout is the fact that one of the few remaining unions in the US will be preserved, however I am left to wonder what good this union really is, because if they had any foresight or intelligence they would have demanded that high efficiency electric cars be produced instead of the junk they are producing today!

We need to let these 3 criminal companies drown. They have consistently sided with the oil companies, which is why we have no electric cars in america anymore. The EV1 was a major hit and would have revolutionized the automotive industry if GM had not decided to sell the battery tech patent to who..... Oh yeah their best friend and major shareholder Exxon-Mobile, who by the way is sponsoring these ads on CBS.

Furthermore lets look at the history of these companies in america: GM time and again refused to improve the safety of its automobiles and tried to incriminate Mr. Ralph Nader when he was trying to get seatbelts and airbags in cars, they have consistently given money to and engaged in criminal actions with governments in southeast asia and south america to ensure they can continue to rape the evirnment and exploit cheap unsafe labor.

Then lets look at Ford, who made the Ford Foundation which was a front for CIA operations to enslave, oppress, and murder hundreds of thousands of innocent people by funding and supporting the sandinistas in nicaragua, the junta''s in argentina, bolivia, and brazil. Not to mention their suport for sutharto in his conquest of massacre in indonesia.

As for daimer-chrysler the oil companies have almost a controlling stake in their company hence the continued mass production of huge "hemi" vehicles and oversized trucks SUVs and cars.

Lets Crucify these companies

There are enough Congressmen afraid of the unemployment that would result from an automakers bankruptcy and the real threat of the UAW having to renegotiate their contracts, that will force the Dems to approve a bailout. They can''t afford to incur the wrath of that special interest, the Unions. And Dems have never been concerned about giving out money especially not their own. SO the bailout will go forward.

Its a waste of money bailing out these weasels. They''''ve had a CENTURY to plan for better cars...better ALTERNATIVE FUEL cars. And they ignored the future. Again: GM CRUSHED thousands of the highly acclaimed EV1. Citizens LOVED it. Say NO to the bailout of Detroit.

These bailouts are a joke. We''ve already given away $2 trillion but haven''t fixed the underlying problem which started this - housing. We must stop rewarding poorly managed companies with bailouts that have no oversight. All these execs seem to care about is vacationing with our money.

I hear it argued that we must save the automakers to save jobs. But the total number of jobs provided by automakers and is only 846,000 positions. Yes this sounds big, but Walmart alone has 1.4 million employees. And furthermore, the automakers stated auto sales will be down to 9-10 million annually (from the 16 million last year). That to me says job losses/consolidation regardless of whether they get the money. And furthermore, they stated this money will only get them through March. Why are we not investing in our roads, alternative forms of energy, etc?....each which would create millions of jobs.

Any bailout should be spent on fixing the housing crisis or it won''t matter if GM/Ford/Chrysler survive. If you can''t afford your mortgage payment, you surely aren''t going to buy a car.

If we don''t stop this bailout, this will set a precedent for the airlines to be next, then hotels/travel industry, then restaurants, etc. It''s got to stop. We should be investing in the sectors of this country that will actually grow our GDP and us as a company.

Contact Congress and tell them to vote no.
