Congressional Leaders Demand Big 3 Automakers Show Viable Business Plan
- they are eliminated.the process has been going on since the late Reagan years, when Don Rumsfeld got a drug made for chemical warfare,,,Aspartane, Approved by the FDA., for use in artificial sweeteners, diet sodas, and even in medications. It has links to causing diabetes, which has a strange increase in the last 20 years? new studies show links to causing medical allergies to start happening.basically the middle class is being poisoned ,and who has money for treatment? not the middle class.Today even a small illness can cost thousands, with no real treatment given. So even the medical profession is up to its neck in greed, just like Exxon, the banks, wall st,everyone has their hand out for more and more, but WE the middle class just don''t have it.

- Good for the Democrats. GM is doing very well in the rest of the world. It is only in the US that their managerial staff suck wind. File Chapter 11, reorganize and get rid of the people who helped GM and other auto makers go broke. NO special deals, no parachutes; fire them and get some creative thinkers in there. Save the money for the new management and the workers.

- It would seem that if Congress was going to bail out everyone but the middle class then there goes more half the nation down the drain what happens to them?

- Yes, but so be it. If they won''''t make quality, affordable products, we''''ll all go the better route .....

From what i hear they are making much better cars. I think perception has lagged reality. I do know that certain auto workers are making in the neighborhood of 150000.00 a year and that when layed off get 95% of their salaries. comparable toyota workers get about 60%. It seems to me that they have to ask is it worth keeping my current salary in exchange for the business to go under. Pilots don''t get paid as much as union auto makers. - Reply to this comment
- Nice try, CBS. The Democrats hardly "control" Congress with Holy Joe Lieberman (R-Israel) as the pivot man. Obstructionist Republicans are blocking the bailout to force a Democratic concession on Columbian free-trade. Hope the Repubs don''''t get whiplash in their sudden about-face when Reid caves to their wishes yet again.

- Japanese car companies come into our country and are given huge tax breaks but American companies cannot get help to stay competitive.
Are there any products manufactured in America by American companies? I cannot name one, either they are manufactured in Vietnam, China or Mexico.
Our country will continue to weaken if we become so dependent upon other countries for EVERYTHING. - Reply to this comment
- Let President Obama and Congress pass this "stupid" bailout for the Big 3 and see how the people will turn on Him in a heartbeat!!! Let them go bankrupt, regroup in Chapter 11 and then comeback on their own!!!

- For what they did to EV-1 in 1996, GM DESERVES to fail. We can get our cars from Tesla Motors. Rent WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR? from Blockbuster and see what I mean and check Wikipedia.

- The working man already has to look forward to an almost 50% increase in taxation with the Obama administration. You think it''''s bad now, just wait. This isn''''t a left/right issue - we''''re ALL getting screwed.

Can you prove that I, as a working man, will get a 50% increase in my taxes because of Obama? And no, I don''t earn 21,000 a month. - Reply to this comment

- All the Dems claimed in the run up to the election that would help mainstreet not wall street. It''s as if they were unaware that the vast majority of mainstreet workers have 401k''s, where is that money invested? In WALL STREET! Hello! I know if wall street fails this mainstreet employee will suffer! The Dems also claim bailing out the big three won''t help mainstreet! Do they realize that the auto industry employs 3 million mainstreet workers? Guess not!

- Once again Bush and his cronies are more interested in what they can put in their pockets. What is best for America comes in last.
