You don''''t see spending $25B as support???? For your information I have been in the position of ELIMINATING MY OWN JOB because it was best for the company. I''''m sick and tired of GROSSLY overpaid individuals that are also GROSSLY over supported in terms of benefits claiming ENTITLEMENT for that to continue. They made their bed, every CEO, manager, and laborer - they milked the cow dry - it''''s time for them to feel the thirst

And there in a nutshell is the real reason you want to say no. Read your own response.

Chapter 11 was designed for exactly this type of circumstance - USE IT

Don''t get it do you? Very little credit due to financial meltdown, extremely unlikely that GM, Chrysler, Ford would be able to reorganize under current economic conditions. Under normal times they''d be able to got to their regular financial houses and borrow. That''s not going to happen.

It boils down a couple of ways, perhaps save them now, or pay later in unemployment, welfare, further decrease in a player in our economic engine.

We are going to subsidize this any way you slice it, you can wait for the total disaster or you can perhaps bridge it long enough to fix it.

If you think the imports will fill in the difference, think again, there is no way from their home market and captured North America operations to fill the demand, for several years.

The Germans, South Koreans and Japanese have already made commitments to help their automotive industry during this time.

Do you understand Chapter 11 at all? That means many sub suppliers will not be paid. That may cause them to shutter their doors and never recover.

The conversation is not about the UAW or CEO wages, it''s about American industry and the fallout.

I suggest the Big3 auto CEOs take their case to the Big5 oil CEOs for a loan.

I love that the big 3 argue that they require the bailout because it can''t be gauranteed that they would emerge from bankruptcy - but they have no plan to gaurantee that getting the bailout would keep them in business. Unbelievable double talk meant to confuse the issue. DO NOT GIVE THEM A DIME!!!!!

Lets put all the retirements from the big 3 on the taxpayer the health care and the auto that has been in this country for 100yrs. Toyato, Honda and any other foreign company does not have to pay this not now anyway. and when this starts to happen they will dump it all. The money they make does not stay in the USA it goes to Japan or any other country they are from. I am old enough to remember the US shipping beer cans to Japan after the second world war they sent them back in the form of little cars with the beer can turned wrong side out with the beer logo on the inside with little tabs to hold them together. So for me to give them a dime tax break on anything to build a auto plant in this country is a bunch of bullshi!. I have never owned ther cars and never will and if old harry was alive today to give them tax breaks of any kind to build a plant in this country you would be SHOT.
