Paulson, Bernanke Tell Lawmakers Strategy Needs To Be Flexible
- In response to a previous comment about the need to impeach Bush immediately. Hey! Wake up and have a cup of coffee! The President cannot do ANYTHING without the approval of Congress. I voted for R-Ron Paul,D-Mary Landrieaux and other Democrat and Republican Congressman who voted AGAINST the Bail Out Bill. Those of you who voted to re-elect the same hypocritical Congressmen that supported the Buddy Bill have no right to complain.Nor do you have the right to blame Bush. Bush started it and people like Pelosi,Reid,Obama and the rest ran with it. McCain included. They all rammed the Bail Out Buddy Bill down our throats.

- Let''s stop pointing fingers at anyone except that true culprits! The financial system (or economic system if it actually still exists) is contorlled by the same demonic cults/groups that controll the governments of the world! This is no conspiracy buff, no paranoid stricken individual. The world economy dangles on the verge of bankruptcy. HOW DOES ALL OF THE MONEY IN WORLD JUST VANISH? It is in the pocket of the rich and selfish who do not put it back into circulation but horde it for greed, and divise measures to obtain more of their "god". OVERTHROW THE RICH and GREEDY! Allow these inclandestine "cults" to control/influence governments and the end for us commoners is just a heartbeat away.

- seeds of greed seem to be doing rather well right now. What this is going to take is that corporate America must brunt some of the problem instead of being bailed out by spineless lobby dollar suckers in congress.I read this morning where the credit card companies are going to raise interest rates....high interest rates do not solve anything except cause a bigger drain on consumer spending.corporate America will not stop wanting more and more, to let them fail would be the best medicine prescribed. This bailout is nothing more than an elaborate greed grab, and your congressmen are up to their necks in guilt.

- "We''''ve been had. Again. "
No. You''ve been had. I predicted this. I predicted all of this before bush got into office. I predicted high oil prices, war and the complete destruction of america. You got had. You didn''t listen. I was paying attention. - Reply to this comment
- Bush bailed out the airlines ($15 billion) directly after 9/11 with the rationale that the overall economy would suffer if they failed.

- This is what happens in fascist countries like the United States. We give all our money to rich corporatists hired by the government to "help" us.
We''ve been had. Again. The sooner we admit we live in a fascist country, the sooner we can rise up and fix it. - Reply to this comment
- Just as I stated prior to the bailout was approved, the bailout was a scam to begin with. It has in no way helped the stock market or the american people. Those receiving bailout funds have taken those funds and spent it on lavish vacations costing more than 10 times the average americans''s yearly salary. Banks are still not giving loans because they are pocketing the funds and giving board members and politicians HUGE multi-million dollar payoffs. Bush is deliberately sqeezing the country dry before he leaves office.
The big 3 needs to collapse so americans finally realize just how important it is to buy american cars and merchandise. The millions of jobs lost will be staggering. Americans just will not understand the importance of buying american products until they have absolutely nothing left. Every corner of the american economy thrives on the big 3''s survival. Don''t believe me? Just wait till they collapse. You will see the stock market in the 4000 range and the homeless shelters filled beyond capacity. Watch, listen and learn. If the big 3 collapses americans will no longer be able to afford the payments on their foreign cars and products.
And best of all...americans did this to themselves with their own stupidity and lack of common sense. - Reply to this comment
- Maybe they could use some kind of help. Maybe the unions need to make more concessions. Maybe the executives need to take a pay cut. But these are NOT the main reasons why Detroit is in big trouble. The economic downturn has resulted in reduced sales for ALL automakers, both foreign and domestic. The only difference is that the reduction is much more for the domestic brands. Why? Because Detroit had bet the farm on building and selling continually bigger and bigger SUVs, while other automakers focused on smaller, more fuel-efficient cars. They chose short-term profit over long-term vision. More than anything else, THIS is the reason why the Big Three is deep trouble today.

- Who in the world would bail out companies that have been losing billions of dollars for many years, bulding cars and trucks that few people want to buy and paying labor wages of over $75 per hour with benefits to do it.
Who?, Our lowly "esteemed" politicians in Washington that don''''t give a da-mn that many generations of our off- spring will be paying for it for forever.
Dump Ried and Pelosi when possible. Vote out of office all incumbent pols, anyone that has served at least two terms. They feed at the public trough of money.
They do not represent me. - Reply to this comment
- This bailout should have never happened. And it''s a little late for politicians to now question. They knew it wasn''t going to work and against a majority of the people not wanting it, they did it anyway. You run your business into the ground, you have lost the right to own it. The taxpayers are not a get out of jail card for greedy and stupid CEO''s. All you need to look at is how AIG used the taxpayers money, then wanted more. Enough is enough.

- I would myself give the big three a bailout before I would the corrupt Banking institutions that we are bailing out now. This isn''t going to work because their greed is too deepseated. They are getting money now and still will not lend,so what does that tell ya.At least with the Auto bailout we might possibily save a few million jobs for Working class America. In all of this I have seen nothing trickle down to the real working class.Nothing for foreclosures and nothing price wise.Regulation is what we need so that these greedy fools stop shooting themselves in the foot.

- Why should I pay someone elses house payment? Bail Autos? Two seperate things are ruining our society. One is unfair free trade. We allow anything into our country. Other countries tax anything we send there so as to make it cost to much to buy over there. If we matched import tax for import tax on all items our problems would disappear. We would have Fair free trade. Really fair. The second thing facing our ability to sell cars besides outlandish pricing of the vehicles and costs of health care profits is the auto dealers themselves. Any attemp made to produce a low cost economical vehicle is buried by the auto dealer greed. They inflate warranty costs and unsell the lower profit vehicles. The dealers do this for larger profit. The largest profit vehicles are always the high end gas gusslers. Reinstate fair import taxes, and pay auto dealers a fixed profit on all vehicles no matter which model and most problems will go away. Auto companies in america will flourish. After that we can focus on a national health care programs, and down to earth realistic pricing of vehicles. Prices in line with what is actually paid to workers so as to allow people to afford them. Auto companies are competing for money with silicon valley and its like apples and oranges. Auto companies want to dominate in a world that has out grown them. Its time to get down to earth and focused on reality. Stop the Greed.

- Obama is quickly becoming Annakin Sky-Walker who turned into Darth Vader.
Remember the last scene in Star Wars Episode III when Obi-Wan scolded him: "You were the Chosen-One who was supposed to destroy the Sith not join them".
Remember you Mr. Obama, was elected to DESTROY the disastrous policies of the Bush administration NOT JOIN THEM! - Reply to this comment
- Not that anyone in Washington is listening to me; however, I suggest no more bailouts until we have complete accountability. I can''''t believe this administration just hands over billions of dollars without oversight. This practice permeates all levels and all aspects of this administration. From Halliburton and Blackwater to Paulson and everything in between.

- it is odvious that all homeowners should stop paying their mortgages immediately. One of two things will happen, we will be bailed out, because the mortgage industryis to big to fail, or the economy collapses and we take the rich who caused this down with us.
JFK was wrong when he said "Ask what you can do for your country, not what your country can do for you". In a capitalist society the individual does not owe the country or anyone else anything. It is about the freedoms of the individual. If the U.S. is not about that anymore who cares if it fails? - Reply to this comment
- Obama...you have to show some guts and start ''OPPOSING WHAT BUSH AND PAULSON IS DOING''!!!!
The American people will still BLAME YOU for not fixing the problem!
And don''t count on the Republicans who voted against you to remember that you sided with the Bush Administration.
YOU WERE ELECTED TO STOP THEM NOT JOIN THEM!!! - Reply to this comment
- Gee whiz who are the clueless Dems going to blame after January 20th?
After all this is the same bunch that came to power nearly two years ago that took their eye off the economy to conduct their "poitical lynchings" and endless votes on "US troop withdraws" from Iraq.
And of course the most corrupt and worthless institution in America today, our mostly corrupt liberal NAZI-like MSM wolfpack press covers for them.
Just like they did for their new hero Obama...................................
..sad and true.

Didn''t the Republican Congress at that time see a ''conflict of interest'' between Mr. Paulson and Goldman Smacks?
This is ridiculous.
