- It''s still well over three dollars a gallon on the west coast. Remember that these prices shot up like 10 cents a day. The prices continue to be sky high. But it''s an election and so they are going to ease up until November. After that, get ready for the worst of the worst.

- Michelle Obama is employed by The University of Chicago Hospital. Her pay in 2004 was $121,910. One year later in 2005, it was raised to $316,962 after her husband proposed a $1,000,000 ear mark for the University.
No, the Obama%u2019s are not corrupt. They are looking out for poor people. How many poor people get a $200,000 raise after working one year? Michelle would have had to be running a brothel to earn that kind of raise! No wonder hospitals are short on beds.

- If Politics and elections are like Professional Wrestling then I could see manipulation purposely to lose the White House and Congress.
Maybe President Bush was payed to play "Bad Cop" and "Tough Love"
Maybe we''ll get treated to a winner administration...
ALL carefully scripted like pro Wrestling to keep us all interested and for whatever reasons.
I don''t think so though.

- Cheap gas is not a good choice to base happiness on.

You are right about the cheap gas. But it does let us to be more mobile. But then again, being more mobile doesn''t equate to happiness for me really. LOL

- I didn''''t say that is how they are manipulated, did I? Surly you have noticed previous releases from the strategic oil reserves around election time and yes it is price manipulation.
Posted by omega40 at 04:05 PM : Oct 20, 2008
The only people who can manipulate gas prices is OPEC. Period. Prices are falling because demand is falling and NYMEX speculators are bailing because they don''t want to get caught holding the bag. - Reply to this comment
- I''ve been paying well under $3 a gallon for some time now. Today''s fill-up was at $2.67 a gallon. I suspect the prices will continue to drop until the election. Just wait though..... prices will jump UP shortly afterwards. It does NOT matter who wins the presidential vote either. This happens ALL the time. Some of you have very short memories!

- ...But becoming journeyman in your craft, and happiness in your work, might be your idea of success.
I know I have re-thought what success means to me, in the past couple of years.
Hope that answered your question?

Wow, impressive. I EXACTLY did the "... becoming journeyman in your craft, and happiness in your work.." thing as a CHOICE to be happy.
It has succeeded beyond my expectations as it has forced me to "get out of myself".
Cheap gas is not a good choice to base happiness on. - Reply to this comment
- Yeah it''''s a great strategy--raise gas prices so you can lose control of Congress & probably the executive branch.
Brilliant logic here.

- How does one help another feel that "Yes I can" feeling? They think Obama will somehow magically make it happen but all he can spend lots of money to lead a horse to water.

Good question. Not sure how to answer that, either. Except, that there is people in this country that become jealous of other people when they become successful.
What is success? Well, it depends on the person who''s measuring it. And too,, what you think is success as well.
Everyone has this idea that success can only be measured with money. Like how much you have,,etc,,etc.
Not so. You can be successful at writing, making furniture, the list could go on, but not necessarily becoming rich from your endeavors.
But becoming journeyman in your craft, and happiness in your work, might be your idea of success.
I know I have re-thought what success means to me, in the past couple of years.

- Little Mary had a box of kittens she was giveing away, so she had them out on the street corner with a sign ''FREE KITTENS'' next to them.
A big big black car came up and a tall man stepped out from the biggest car. It''s Senator Obama.
''Hi, little girl, what do you have there in the box?'' he asked.
''Kittens'' Little Mary Pat says. ''They''re so small, their eyes are not even open yet.''
''What kind of kittens are they?'' he asked. ''Democrats'' says Little Mary Pat.
The tall man smiled, returned to his car and they drove away. Sensing a good photo opportunity, Sen. Obama called his campaign manager and told him about the little girl and the kittens.
The next day, Little Mary Pat is standing out on the corner with her box of kittens with the ''FREE KITTENS'' sign and the big motorcade of black cars pulled up with all the vans and trucks from ABC, NBC, CBS, BET and CNN but no FOX for some reason. Everyone had their cameras ready and then, Sen. Obama got out of his limo and walked up to Little Mary Pat.
''Now, don''t be frightened,'' he said, ''I just want you to tell all these nice news people just what kind of kittens you''re giving away today.'' ''Yes sir,'' Mary Pat said, ''The are all REPUBLICAN kittens.''
Taken by surprise, Sen. Obama said, ''But yesterday, you told me that they were DEMOCRATS.''
Little Mary Pat says, ''Yes, I know. But today, they have their eyes open.'' - Reply to this comment
- The government can affect gas prices through competing with the private sector for petroleum products or taxes, or regulation but to "manipulate" impies there is some kind of conspiracy.
The ONLY agenda I can believe, besides profit, is to make the voter have maybe a little warm fuzzy feeling the day he/she goes to the polls.
Posted by Latrocinor at 03:51 PM : Oct 20, 2008
The government can''t control gas prices. Gas prices are pegged to crude. AGAIN, gas prices ROSE before the 2004 election, so let''s put away our foil caps. - Reply to this comment
