Free enterprise and greedy capitalism are going down hard and for good. There is no "free " enterprise for those of us who have to bail out the corrupt and greedy. Capitalism needs some strong oversight and alert markers. Once the economy hits a certain alert marker that we create to keep close tabs on the market, we autmatically step in and take over, find the cause and elminiate the problem (or persons) and make the necessary adjustments long before it gets to even a recessionary stage and therefore eliminate future meltdowns. Either that are forget the global economy!

Some of you still do not get it. This is not just a national crisis, it is an international one. This wasn''t caused by the evil Republicans by themselves, and this can not be solved by one group. We are part of the problem and we are not going to solve it by finger pointing and expecting someone else to come in and save us. This crisis has been building for at least two decades. In twenty years we will have to deal with the social security/medicaid crisis that has been building for over five decades. Get used to panic in Washington.

Thank you MSM from diverting our attention from Sarah Palin''s important message about some professor Obama knows. I guess if this professor actually had something to do with Obama''s campaign or the economy you might cover it.

The U.S. economy will collapse according to Bible prophecy. The United States is represented in the vision mentioned in the Bible Book of Daniel, chapter 2. We are the last great nation to arise that is mixed with iron and clay (cannot stick together), which shows in our political arena. We will be taken out by God, and the other nations that stand upon our economy will fall with us. This is not the worst to come. Read "FIRESTORM!" by author Lawrence W. Corob to find out what happens next, since the TRIBULATION PERIOD has begun that is mentioned in the Bible. This is only the beginning of sorrows. Read what happens next.

The bailout was supposed to reassure investors that all is well in America.

On the contrary, passing the bailout is a signal that America is drowning in deep doo-doo.

We have admitted that we are bankrupt and now the whole world is going to fall apart financially. Everyone is running scared and the house of cards will collapse.

GW: "We need another 700 billion now! Don''t talk about it, jes'' gimme th'' money, NOW!!

Paulson: "OMG. I just p*ssed myself"

McClone: %u201CThe fundamentals of the economy are strong because I was once a POW"

Palin: ( w i n k ) *starburst*

Bernanke: (in a whisper) "Hello, Freidrich? It''s Ben. I''ll be on the next flight to Switzerland this morning. No, I''m staying. You guys don''t have extradition, do you?"

The rest of us: "Thanks a lot Aholes! Come knock on my door and ask if I''ll put your "reelect me" sign on my about to be foreclosed lawn. See how many five knuckled responses you''ll get before you drop and then how many ribs I can kick in when you are down."

Why are we publicly financing the buy out of our mortgages for 15 cents on the dollar. We should be able to negoitate lower rates or buyout our own mortgages for 15 cents on the dollar too.

Why would anyone be surprised about this? Congress was specifically working on behalf of big moeny to cover up the corruption that had already bled funds from the economy. The general public knew the sellout was a bad idea and the smart stock market investors already knew the sellout would do nothing new.
The effect is that the US government will have to borrow to cover the new debt which will obviously take money OUT of the credit market. Since it is covering bad debt it will not be putting 700 billion dollars into the economy. It is just a shift which weakens our nation.
Maybe our leaders should find seek the council of blog respondents. Most of the people writing here knew this matter was a farce. Instead Bush led us into greater peril.

Imagine what our retirement would look like if Bushs plan to invest it into the stock market would have become reality. The great gains we would realise! Curse the liberals for stopping it!

Thanks to Barney Frank for pushing poor people to be able to buy houses easily, his pushing for easy credit has caused a global meltdown.

No I took my money out of the market because I fear Americans will be stupid enough to elect Obama and if that happens my money is safer in my matress.

Wouldn''t be better to put your money UNDER your mattress instead of IN your mattress? I believe it wouldn''t be quite so lumpy to sleep on and probably less noisy too.
