Treasury Secretary Agrees To Sticking Point Involving Executive Pay
- THIS JUST IN! Senator McCain has just announced a proposal to delay the 2008 election indefinitely in order to deal with the financial crisis. In addition, Senator McCain has offered to assume the duty of President during this period, which may be extended as needed if the situation warrants.
"As a former Vietnam POW, I made this proposal in the spirit of sacrifice and service to this great country, of course," McCain was quoted as saying.

You better be joking. Because this is America and this sociopath, this walking DUNG HEAP, belongs in an ELECTRIC CHAIR. Our Constitution, democracy and country don''''''''t deserve to have this PIECE OF ROTTING $HIT in our White House another second.
THE WORLD WILL BE CELEBRATING on JANUARY 20, 2009.
Have no doubt.

What every war criminal does, salt his cut away in a foreign country (Paraguay and Bolivia) then run.
This is why we cannot let him walk away scot free from his crimes, help us however you can, to keep up the call to bring him and his henchmen to justice, even if we have to hound him for the next 50 years, like the Jews do the Nazi war criminals.
The rest of his life should be spent looking over his shoulder in fear of facing justice for the death and destruction he has caused. - Reply to this comment

- If John McCain really wants to concentrate his efforts on fixing the economy in a non-partisan way, he should drop out of the race altogether. He could then prove beyond doubt that his only interest is the welfare of the country.
But we all know he hasn''''t made a single vote in Congress since last MARCH, missing over 100 votes! That''''s right!!, in the six month period leading up to this horrible crisis, John mcCain has been completely absent in Congress, and now he wants us to believe that Congress cannot now make good policy without him! What a sick joker. - Reply to this comment
- While our President is speaking, please keep in mind that
THIS BAILOUT IS A HUUUUUUUGE CONFLICT OF INTEREST for the MANY members of Congress who are personally invested up to their armpits in subprime loans. They are BAILING THEMSELVES OUT. Many of them stand to receive MILLIONS OF DOLLARS out of OUR POCKETS.
Our legislators have discovered that they can vote THEMSELVES largesse out of the public treasury.
Economic collapse and dictatorship is sure to follow.

- If anyone remembers how this housing situation was going, then they will remember that at the time a house that was one week only worth 90,000 in two weeks was now worth 500,000. Two weeks later, it would again be worth more, maybe another 500,000. I don''t know what kind of blame game is being played here on the so-called poor people who couldn''t afford these inflated prices, but I know that the financial institutions were setting the tone and Bush had firmly declared when Enron was screewinng California that the government simply wasn''t going to do a thing about it. Now people on hate radio want to paint McCain as someone was different. Fat chance.

ST"
ST this is one of the very few times I will beg to differ.
If $700 billion was given to the people, but they still had this corrupt system in which to spend it, the result would be an even bigger "kablam" a year or two down the road, but this time being the unstoppable nuclear meltdown of the US economic system. This is why the Bush "stimulus" plan failed, most people were paying on their loan shark deals, the money was to small to circulate.
First we need to let the crooked banks and lenders fail, use the government for a banking system until new, more honest people step in to replace the old ones, abolish the FED, start the reconstruction of America, create enough jobs to reconstitute the middle class, then put the $700 billion out, directly into the hands of the laborers, with no crooked middle men. - Reply to this comment

- "Good conservative business practices would have avoided this mess. Only give loans to people who are able to pay them back. This is what happens when political correctness overwhelms common sense." Posted by downsteamjim
Your point is good, but you miss one detail, the logical result of "trickle down" was the elimination of large numbers of middle class working people who could repay.
The rich paid their loans early, so no appreciable profit from interest was earned from them, and their numbers cannot support anything other than niche industries. The real estate industry in acts of ignorance, built only houses targeted at the rich, until the market was saturated with overpriced units the rich were not buying.
The middle lost jobs and purchasing power for the last almost 40 years, they became reluctant to risk borrowing in the uncertain and shrinking employment situation, so there was no one left to lend to.
It wasn''t PC, it was a new scam to sucker the poor into paying a few months at a time then defaulting, then selling the same property to new poor suckers, until the foreclosure numbers could no longer be concealed. - Reply to this comment
- I see we have those that no nothing about CLINTON. We would not be in tyhis mess if he was stell in the White House.
Posted by Upto1947 at 08:14 PM : Sep 24, 2008
If Bill Clinton was still President:
- He would have made Islam the official religion of the USA
- He would require all citizens age 18-40 to report to Al Queda training camps
- He would have declared all existing money null and void, and he would have had new currency designed with his picture on it. This money would be issued for free to all registered Democrats. It would be illegal for Republicans to have any of it. Businesses would not be allowed to accept any other form of money, including grocery stores and restaurants. When Republicans start dying of starvation, he will accuse them of being "unfit and unhealthy, so they deserve to die."
- He would have abolished marriage and declared all women to be HIS, ALL HIS.
- He would have issued an executive order exempting all Presidents from laws requiring them to wear pants. Or underwear.
- Clinton would drain the brake fluid from you car. Then when you have an accident when you''re unable to stop, he''ll call it an "unforseen result."
Yes, we wouldn''t be having THIS problem. We''d be having CLINTON''S OWN SPECIAL BRAND of problem. - Reply to this comment

- "Easy to blame what has happened. Coming up with answers is another thing. Has Obama outlined a plan?"
Posted by tpraskac
The answer is obvious, reconstitute the middle class with a massive job creation program that replans, modernizes, improves and upgrades America''s major cities, but leave crooked contractors out of it.
Of the two, Mr. Obama has suggested the beginnings of such a plan, even if he does not appreciate the necessarily much larger scope of what must be done.
McSame has just within the last few days come to understand that there is a problem. - Reply to this comment
