I know religious folks of all sorts who do nothing but take umbrage that someone would practice another faith than theirs. Presbyterians used to burn Catholics. Quakers were ruthlessly persecuted throughout history.

It must be near unbearable to live in the negative, hate-filled world you''ve imagined for yourself to live in.

I used to be something like you, until I found Jesus. I hope He can do the same for you to spare you a life if misery.

What a world they must imagine, when a Quaker would be outraged by a Methodist, who would be deeply offended by a Catholic, who would be irreparablY harmed by a Presbyterian...

Makes us ALL sound like a bunch of MUSLIMS.

I believe that we need to be guaranteed the right to not have our lives altered in a negative way by someone else''''s religious practices being imposed on us.

And I believe that only a rabid anti-religious athiest thinks someone is "imposing religion" just because she OVERHEARD someone praying.

The modern version of "separation of church and state" is based on the notion that it is intolerable for two individuals to engage in religious expression in the same room. It is based on the notion that we must PRESUME that ANY religious expression is repugnant to ALL other individuals.

To singinrich: One should not have to leave ones freedoms at home. I do not believe that a Jewish or Muslim store should be forced to sell pork.

In America we''re supposedly guaranteed Freedom *of* Religion, but we also need Freedom *from* religion. Too many people use their religious beliefs or practices to inflict harm and inconvenience on others. I believe that we need to be guaranteed the right to not have our lives altered in a negative way by someone else''s religious practices being imposed on us.

So txgrouch2006, you think Thomas Jefferson was a fascist? He believed every generation ought to have its own revolution and constitution.

I think we should be free to live a life that suits our needs in our own time. Is that fascist?
Posted by FSW3 at 06:57 PM : Sep 12, 2008

Yes. Feeling free to re-write the Constitution to suit the whims of the time is EXACTLY what fascism hopes to achieve.

My sister change her religion to Islam. I recall being out after the fast of Ramadan, sunrise to sundown. Depending on on Imam, the end of the daily fasting doesn''t necessary coincide at the strike of the sun setting. She broke her fast this one evening nearly an hour after the sun actually set. But, then it was just one person, not over a hundred. Again, the Muslims at this plant are wrong. This isn''t the Middle East or some other Islamic majority nation. They need to be reminded of this by example. I''m glad they were all fired. That was the least they deserved.

The Muslims are clearly wrong in this matter. If they''re that "devout", let them work in a religious-based company. I guess they don''t realize the absurdity of over a hundred and more all stopping work just to pray. Breaks are staggered and can be at the discretion of the employer, union or not and the intent isn''t to give folks a religious break time. They can silently pray while continuing to work. Muslims at this plant are just trying to grandstand and again shove their religious views on non-Muslims in a non-religious environment. Orthodox Jews who devoutly observe the Sabbath make sure that their work doesn''t interfere with their career choice. The Muslims should do the same. Allowing and even tolerating Muslims to impose their religious views in a work situation where the business consequence is impacted by their religious propensities, is illogical and shouldn''t be allowed or tolerated. Go find a job elsewhere or shut up and put up.
