The "workshop" "focus-group" "think-tank" mentality that infests Ford''s decision-making, ALWAYS selects the stupidest option possible as the solution for a problem.

Ford posts a multi-billion dollar loss yet the top brass will still make a fine paycheck when they continue their cash grab before the next round of layoffs in a month or two.

Bring on your little j@p car and I''ll bring my f-350 dually power stroke.. and we''ll see who walks away... last j@p cr@p I hit was smashed like a bug.. it was totaled.. I got a scratch on my front bumper..

Had a toyota pick up try to push me at a stop light.. he was first in line I was second.. he had pulled to far out in the intersection.. and didn''t go.. he wanted to back up so he pushed on me. I pushed back.. and he was in the middle of the road when the smoke cleared.. FOOL!!!!

I also had a co worker talk smack with his Chevy.. I offered to hook up and have a pull off.. but the chevy owner got scared and ran away like a little girl.. typical Chevy owner..

put up or shut up..

the thing that gets me is even before the Whole Rollover thing here in the states caught on,

Venezuelas government threatened to take Ford to task in international courts because no one was taking the rollover thing seriously,
and naturally Ford decides its not a Ford design issue but rather a Venezuelan road issue.

this was Before Chaves was even in power.

that just goes to show you how they care about their living customers, for years all they worried about was the color of their money.....

the last American Car i had was a total junk...
soon after the warranty expired i had a multitudes of issues with it,

After i switched to NISSAN, ive had very little or next to no maintenance.

and this on an off note, everytime theres a FORD involved in a wreck, be it minor,
why is it alsways the one flipped on its side?
i saw what otherwise was a fender bender between an Bronco, and a Smaller Japanese car, and you guessed it, the Ford was on its side, and the woman in the Japanese car was walking aroudn giving a statement to the cops, while the driver of the FORD was being put into an Ambulance....

In a statement, Ford President and CEO Alan Mulally said, "The second half will continue to be challenging, but we have absolutely the right plan to respond to the changing business environment and begin to grow again for the long term." (AP)
-----------------------

Does this mean we will get affordable vechicles that run on renewable energy sources? or just smaller cars?

That is how the German''s do it, and the Japaneese are doing it as well. The first time we went to buy a new car, we had a list that we wanted, we had 40k to spend and off the the Cadallac dealership we went. We were at the dealer, first they treated us poorly, then when we told them what we were looking for (AWD, Sunroof and Nav) and that we had 40k to spend, the salesman acted offended, and told us that there was no way he could sell us a CTS for that amount. So we told him that we would go to the Lexus dealership and buy a car there, and we did. The dealership actually wanted us to buy the car and did everything they could to make us feel welcome. They even send us a gift basket thanking us. We got got a loaded ''08 with AWD, Nav, Sunroof (which is standard on every Japaneese and German car BTW and 1200 on a GM) for less than the 40k. So we didn''t even want to go to the cady dealership for our second car. We went to the Lincolin dealership to look at the MKZ thinking lest give USA another chance and it was a total piece of junk. The fittings were bad, the headliner was cheep.... So the second car we bought was a BMW, better fit and finish, and again the dealership actually wanted us to buy the car and did everything they could to make us feel welcome. Once the american car companies actually listen to the consumer maybe then they will compete. I just don''t think that they get it.

One of the issues from my point of view is that the American car companies do not try hard enough to sell their cars. Case in point: This year we bought 2 cars, spent a combined 98k. Both times we went to the car dealers check in hand ready to buy a car. Now both of us being 30, we are in what should be the target demo for the american car companies. They should be wanting to sell us a car to make sure that we grow with the brand.

I had a Ford F150 and it was a decent car, and I also had a Taurus. Aside from a recurring recall problem with the Taurus on liguid-filled motor mounts breaking, I guess they were decent cars.

I was the only person in the family to buy an American-branded car. Otherwise, we ONLY buy Toyota, Mazda, Honda, or I now have a Nissan. We''ve had minimal problems with these Japanese-branded cars.

Ford has been IRRESPONSIBLE in offering large gas- and diesel-guzzling trucks for so long. Sure, they''re needed in construction and other labor-intensive fields, but I can tell you that several construction companies I know have been transitioning to Toyota Tacomas, and appreciate the reliability.

I''m sure that Ford is tied in with the oil companies...they probably play golf together, take hunting and fishing trips, and laugh at how they''re able to sell products that benefit each other.

The party''s over, guys!

"Reduction in assets?"

Great MBA-speak for "WE MAKE CRUMMY CARS THAT ARE GAS GUZZLERS AND WE DESERVE TO TAKE A HIT FOR IT!"

To follow up: In contrast, Toyota and Honda have announced they will make available low cost, fuel-efficient models including hybrids as early as NEXT YEAR. Checkmate for Detroit.

txgrouch2006,

You are the one blaming previous presidents. I just pointed out it was a shared blame.

Why are you twisting comments?

"The company also announced that it will bring six European small car models to North America by the end of 2012..."

Boy, these guys sure react fast to the market, don''t they? And GM''s much ballyhooed Chevy Volt? Cost: $30 to $40K. Yeah, it will save you a lot of money, but only if you keep it for 15 years.

No wonder Detroit is in big trouble.
