Big Oil Profits Go To Investors, Not R&D
More Than Half The Money Made By The Five Largest Oil Companies Goes To Stock Buybacks And Dividends
**************************************
Come on CBS News, don''t be CBS Olds, this is not new,
the Greedy Oil Party was created for this, too much money in the hands of too few. Abraham Lincoln (R) said in the 1860''s he was worried about all the money in the hands of a few (i. e. Corporations)...he knew it then, a century and a half ago....Lincoln said it would destroy a republic. It has and is!

Hello Concerned Consumers

well the real answer is for the U.S. and Canada
to form a Spud Cartel

yes lets regulate the only resource the world has need of Spuds.

and I say we trade one sack of spuds for every barrel of Oil,

Saudi Arabia cannot grow spuds or wheat, let them eat sand.

so there is the solution

a Spud Cartel

sincerely looking out for your best interest Bear

I''m not complaining. Working in Calagary, Canada home of the oil sands is amzing right now. So much demand for workers, that coffee servers are getting 15$/hr plus signing bonuses. Professional workers easily 6 figure salary. There was an article last month about a welder making 350k in the year.

Also helps to invest in Oil Sands companies.

What sleazeballs! Before we drill more holes, in American territories, the American Oil Companies must settle the score with the American consumers for the BILLIONS of dollars in taxpayers%u2019 subsidy payments, for which we%u2019ve received no direct benefit%u2014while they raked in record profits and fattened their own paychecks. We want a REFUND! They%u2019ve used our money for their own self-interests. Now, we need it back for our self-preservation. We want a REFUND of those subsidies%u2014in verifiable and comparable pump price reductions!

Even Oil-man billionaire, T. Boone Pickens, knows we can''t drill our way out of an oil addiction.I would only be able to support more drilling by American Companies, on American territory, if Americans were to receive a specific, meaningful and direct benefit in the price of gasoline. However, as long as American Oil Companies continue to charge Americans %u201Cworld market%u201D prices for %u201CAmerican%u201D oil, then they ought to go drill somewhere else in the world. In our time of War, American Oil Companies even charge the American Military for gasoline and diesel fuel, based on world market oil prices. How unpatriotic is that???

Hello Confused Consumers

keep your shirts on.

its about 2000 miles from Portland to Amerillo

so we just double the price
it costs
2 x $525.00 = $1050.00
to get 1800 spuds from Portland to Amerillo

lets see

so

1050 / 1800 = 0.58 fifty eight pennies per spud

1 sack of spuds holds about 10 big spuds

s0 10 x $0.58 = $5.80 for a sack of spuds

rough estimate

probably the same for a box of oranges, from
florida to Chicago.

sincerely finding the best use of our limited sources Bear

Dear Energy and Capital Reader,

If you had any doubt as to whether there''s a real, live oil boom going on in the Bakken region of North Dakota-Montana, it''s time to get over it.

But don''t take it from me.

As CNN Money recently reported, North Dakota--for the first time in 10 years--is suddenly back on the Baker Hughes list of major oil states. The widely respected industry watchdog, which has tracked U.S. oil drilling for the last 50-plus years, reports a total of 67 rigs operating in the state... and counting.

And it''s really just par for the course, according to Ron Ness, president of the North Dakota Petroleum Council.

"You increase oil production by 50 percent over the past 30 months, you get back on the map with the big boys," he said.

"Hell, communist China is allowed to drill 60 off the Florida coast in international waters, but Exxon/Mobil can''''t. They''''re not allowed to."
Posted by mike071067

Another neocon misdirection. The Chinese wells "off the Florida coast" are in Cuban territorial waters, not "international waters." http://www.americanfreepress.net/html/china_starts_oil_drilling.html

Perhaps if the U.S. would lift the useless Cuban embargo they wouldn''t be leasing to China.

BTW, do you not have a conscience or do you just suspend it when it comes to politics? Lies and distortions only make you look like a sappy fall guy for the Halliburton presidency.

This isn''t a Democrat or Republican issue. It''s common sense. Invest in less harmful, inexpensive and renewable energy sources. We should also demand better, safer and more fuel-efficient vehicles from the auto makers. The computer, electronics and home applicance manufacturers have been doing it for years.

It''''s as though the Democrats in congress are getting paid by our competitors to hamstring our energy options.

Posted by OneAmerican- at 12:11 PM : Jul 22, 2008

GOP LIE # 500,00 posted by OneAmerican he wants Americans to believe Democrats have the power to hamstring "our energy options" at the same time Bush/Cheney can start two wars hand out no-bid contracts and have Pals at companies like Enron but don''t have the power to enhance Americas or as OneAmerican said "our energy options" .

GOP MANTRA DOUBLETHINK

with the lie always one leap ahead of the truth.

Hello confused consumers

Ok $5.25 gallon for diesel fuel

1 big truck gets 10 miles to a gallon, maybe, downhill.

1 farm tractor gets 300 feet per gallon ,plowing, maybe.

most truckers average 500 miles a day

500 / 10 = 50 gallons a day

50 x $5.25 = $262.50 a day for fuel

throw 10 Maple trees on the back of a big rig for a ride from Nursery in Portland, Oregon to Amerillo, Texas
about 1000 miles cost 2 x $262.50 = $525.00
for just shipping fuel.

lets see a Farmer can plant, 1 ft per Spud plant,
x 300 ft = 300 spud plants per gallon of diesel fuel
now each spud plant produces maybe
6 spuds so we get
6 x 300 = 1800 spuds grown
then you gots to dig the spuds up
so takes another gallon to harvest
1800 spuds for 2 gallons of diesel fuel

so

it looks like the best use of the limited fuel supplies is to plant spuds.

and it takes $525.00 in trucking cost to get those 1800 spuds to market. from Portland to Amerillo.

They buy Republican Congessmen and we subsidized their mind-boggling profits with our taxes and at the pump. On top of this we go to war for them, sacrificing the blood of our sons and daughters in Iraq so that they can have free and easy no-bid contracts to develope Iraqi oil fields.

Under Republican rule this country is by the corporation, of the corporation and for the corporation.

The big oil companies only drill in areas their geologists, seizmologists and thermal infrared satellite imagery show where known oil and gas exist. They don''t waste their time and resources in areas that are not promising.

Unfortunately, Pelosi''s Congress won''t let them drill or explore in the promising areas. Pelosi''s Congress is waiting for Al Gore to show them the way to the promised land. In the mean time the public and the oil companies are screwed.
