Here''s a thought... maybe if Starbucks actually used their resources to provide free coffee donations to our troops in Iraq and actually supported our military, perhaps so many SUPPORTIVE American''s wouldn''t have banned their products? My company (one of the "Big Three") pushed them out of our cafeteria - as a large percentage of our people here refused to purchase their coffee due to this very reason alone.

I can imagine the economy has tightened most people''s pockets and sales are down, however when I feel I can afford to splurge on an overpriced cup of coffee - I''ll drive out of my way and choose a "mom and pop shop" over an over-rated, over-priced, and unappreciative company like Starbucks.

My heart goes out to the thousands of displaced workers! If Starbucks wants to ride off the American Dream... they better remember who they have to thank for that!

It''s no secret to the consumer that businesses are using high energy prices and a "slow economy" as an excuse to raise prices A LOT!

Consumers know that it is plain, old fashioned corporate GREED that runs the Ferengi economy of the neocon Fascist Nazi Republicans, which explains why BIG OIL and BIG ANYTHING (Wal-Mart) can make such huge profits today. Anyone who thinks that those profits are going back to exploring new forms of energy (BIG OIL) or benefit consumers (Wal-Mart) thinks, as the Great Emperor Bush II does, that the moon is still made of "GREEN CHEESE"!

Corporate profits will stay at the top with the CEO''s, CFO''s, corporate presidents and upper managers, to fund their life style, NOT YOURS!

That''s business, the neocon Fascist Nazi Republican way!

SIG HEIL, BUSH!!!
sig heil, DEFINITELY MORE OF THE SAME, McCain!!!!

I have never had a starbucks coffee because seven dollars for cheap coffee is too much. I don''t see why anyone would want to pay that much for 1 teaspoon of coffee in 14 ounces of water with 2 ounces of evaporated milk.

Starbucks started to go down when the "Moca Marxist" that owns the place started putting his left wing dribble on his paper coffee cups. He exploits his employees worse than any other big retail business.

I want ApprxAM and Curse and Whitemale to come back today. I have been posting here for over a year that people should watch the video ''Money Masters'' on Google video, it is a real history and shocking education on what the money system really is and how it is bleeding us dry. Seems like no one gets it.

The US economy may have slowed down but people are not about to cut down on their caffeine. Come on! In my opinion Starbucks projected their future too far ahead and could not keep up with the promisse, especially as their %u201Cloan%u201D from the stock market got smaller. But I bet this is not the full sorty%u2026

%u2026 I believe %u201Cslow economy%u201D will be a good scape goat in the 2-3 years to come. Top Corporate Chickens, like those at Starbucks, will bail out while they%u2019re still on top, and cheat stock holders in the process. Come on! Closing that many stores at once has to be a cover-up for shady accounting and theft in the company. But that%u2019s just me saying.

Starbucks has had a very successful run for many years. Enough years to think it was a good idea that has simply run its course.

Who cares? This is an overbloated company! there is not sense to have a coffee shop every other block or two in the same shopping center. I for one will not miss them even if it does supply jobs to the market. But jobs similar to the ones at Starbucks exist in other areas of the service industry.

Capitalism is about taking chances. In that respect, Starbucks is a champion. Unfortunately, there is no reward for taking chances on an idiotic business premise. The premise here being that people would pay exorbitant prices for something they don''t need.

But since Bush permanently exported 400,000 high technology jobs from the Silicon Valley to other nations, and kept it secret for almost eight years, I have to take what I can get.

............

I feel your pain ST! I am lucky to have just been hired by HP a few months ago here in the valley, but with the direction of the economy, (and this country), I am quite sure it will be short lived.

In the mean time, I will suffice with Folgers in my Mr. Coffee machine!

I won''t miss Starbucks. I hate their coffee and uptight personnel and made-up-size-names.

Humanavance,

Have you tried a blend of 3/4 medium roasted Columbian and 1/4 dark roasted Jamaican? It''s my favorite.

Humanavance,

Do you actually drink coffee or are you on something more stimulating?

Starbucks raised the bar. It weaned a lot of people off instant coffee or coffee that had been left on the stove all day. The world has moved on since to better quality and value, still we should be grateful for that first step.

What does your rambling have to do with the quality of coffee?
