You brainwashed Republicans don''t get it. First you lobby Congress to allow illegal monopolies over radio to monopolize OPINION then cry over having to be regulated.

Same thing with the oil industry.

The FAIRNESS DOCTRINE is not to make liberal radio profitable instead its to protect Americans from being lied into war by these junkyard dogs on the radio like Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck.

Gas stations need to get rid of the "Regular", "Plus", and "Supreme" designations for gas... and rename them as:

"Holy $hitt", "God Dammit", and "***** ME!"

rudy654 - you can''t address the real issue, could you? In the business of talk radio, conservative talk sells ad time, liberal talk doesn''t, therefore you want the government to FORCE radio stations to air liberal talk programs that cannot pay their own way.

That''s the aruguement vis-a-vis the "Fairness Doctrine". Pulling your political rabbits and slogans out of your hat mean nothing - you want the government to FORCE your point of view onto the population at large at the expense of radio stations.
Get over it, Stormtrooper.

Gasoline is worth what the public is willing to pay for it.

"Liberal" talk radio, by contrast, is a money-losing business. Because of that, you want the government to MANDATE the presence of liberal talk radio.

Who''''s the fascist here...?

Why you are. As it is, the public airwaves are not for the exclusive use of political parties. I know you would like that, but that is about to end. And no, for "liberal" radio to be successful it doesn''t have to go to satellite first. You can take your hate radio there, if you like.

rudy654, you win the prize for "1984"-style misinformation:

Suggesting that others could not be allowed that access while they can is clearly a violation of free speech

No one suggests you cannot be allowed. Everyone is allowed. What YOU want is a government FORCED feeding of YOUR viewpoint. "Conservative" talk radio is a business - companies pay to play their commercials during "conservative" radio programs.

"Liberal" talk radio, by contrast, is a money-losing business. Because of that, you want the government to MANDATE the presence of liberal talk radio.

Who''s the fascist here...?

When Enron was extorting money from California, the executives were recorded as saying: "Say anything to justify it. Say plants had to be shut down for maintenance or some such thing." And, that is the mentality that has been used all along in driving the price of oil up.

Here is an example. Remember this little item in 2006?

The August 6 announcement by major oil company BP that it will need to shut down 400,000 barrels a day of oil production in Alaska is the latest development pushing crude oil futures toward US$80 per barrel. BP''s shutdown came after an oil spill was discovered in Alaska''s North Slope in March. After finding the hole in the pipeline responsible for the leak, the company admitted that the crack was part of a larger pipeline corrosion problem that will force BP to replace 25 kilometers (16 miles) of a 35-kilometer (22-mile) pipeline that originates in Prudhoe Bay in Alaska. The production halt is expected to last 60-90 days. The Alaskan shutdown is the latest contributing factor to record high oil prices.
*********

Who of us is so stupid as to believe that big oil has just been the innocent victim of all that profit?

Even top junkyard Rush Limbaugh will soon admit that he failed his ditto heads about the economy once the fairness doctrine goes into effect.

Let''s hope. They have had no business using the public airwaves to broadcast 24 hour commercials for one political party. Suggesting that others could not be allowed that access while they can is clearly a violation of free speech. If they want commercials for their parties, then let them pay like everyone else. In the meantime they have had absolute free access to the airwaves to exert their mind control cult-like expertise.

Nationalize the oil companies and put an end to it. Meanwhile, behind closed-doors, the rich and our elected officials laugh at regular Americans, as we roll over and take it. "What are they going to do about it--protest?"

More and more of your junkyard dogs like Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck are losing syndication thank goodness because you Republicans have no credibility left.

Even top junkyard Rush Limbaugh will soon admit that he failed his ditto heads about the economy once the fairness doctrine goes into effect.

What a bunch of moronic people to blame this problem on Democrats. Typical backward right wingery. This after having the oil companies write the energy policy, starting two failed wars for them and eight years of oil executives in the White House. Get a brain!!!!!

I''m more fortunate than most - here in Oklahoma City we''re only paying about $3.70 a gallon for regular unleaded. We expect it to not last forever, of course.
