- andor3: The land they want to drill is called the nothern coastal plain, it is a wasteland, and there is no threat to anything other than ground. It is barren in winter and almost as barren in summer.

- "The land they want to drill on is wasteland."
not so. one persons wasteland is anothers paradise. the land is part of a natural reserve and a habitat. just because it is empty or sparse does not mean it would not be damaging to drill there. Studies have all concluded otherwise.
and of course there is not enough oil to have any real benefit.
this is just a smokescreen because all informed people have to oppose ANWR drilling, and certain elements counted on that to distract from the profits and corruption they see as business as usual. - Reply to this comment
- To show some REAL patriotism one of these two candidates should introduce legislation to close the ENRON loophole and STOP the gambling on the future price of oil.
It doesn''''t matter if it passes or not.......whichever one can lay claim to bringing the bill to work will win easily in November.
These "SPECULATORS" are gambling away the American way of life.
My check and my vote are waiting to see which one has the nutz to get it done. - Reply to this comment
- ... can''t you see the irony in all this? Sell you soul for a worthless paper called a dollar. Mankind has shown his true nature - the BEAST.

- andor3: There is no damage to anything. The land they want to drill on is wasteland. It''s 2200 acres out of 19 million.

- "All the more reason to drill in ANWR"
Why? The price is enormous in damage to natural resources and wilderness. The benefit is nil. Why would we even consider it?
I know! because responsible people will oppose it and we can then try to blame them for gas prices, even knowing it is a complete lie. - Reply to this comment
- rudy654: There is no doubt the need to develop alternative fuels. And by the way when was ethanol taken off the table? This fuel is made from anything green. We could end subsidizing farmers for not growing with the development of this fuel. And I don''t waste my time with Rush.

- All the more reason to drill in ANWR.

Hey, I''m all for it. But if you think it will lower gas prices, I have a bridge in Miami to sell you. When you Limbaugh listeners develop a brain, you might just understand the problem, but even Limbaugh argues with the experts he invites on his program. - Reply to this comment
- Just check out the w.h.o.r.e story on here and you can get a gas card with your STD. Free gas and early death, a deal for some.

- All the more reason to drill in ANWR. They are talking about using 2200 acres of land out of 19 million acres, and the land they want to use is called the northern coastal plains. It is wasteland. There would be no threat to anything if they were to use this land.

- Even if we found a giant lake of 100 trillion barrels of oil under Hollywood, it''s still a stupid idea to keep running on fossil fuels. Let''s put some money and effort into developing something else. We''re all sounding like a bunch of crack addicts.

- In about a year and a half since the Dems took control of Congress, the price of gas has gone up almost $2.00 a gallon.
In the previous SIX YEARS, from Jan 2001 to Jan 2007, the price went up only $0.62.
We voted for change, and we got it alright.
Got it right up the wazzoo. - Reply to this comment

- well if the average gas prices for mississippi are below $4.00 then why here in monroe county has it been over $4.00 for the last month or so? Somebody needs to get down here and see whats going on! Sounds like to me whoever is supposed to be regulating these gas stations are not doing their jobs!

"Liberal" talk radio, by contrast, is a money-losing business. Because of that, you want the government to MANDATE the presence of liberal talk radio.
Who''''s the fascist here...?

The reason Liberal radio is not popular with "paying corporations" is because they don''t want the public to know the truth about big corporations, and Liberal radio is the only place we can hear the truth, local news channels have cancelled important news and we all know hannity and lintball just pull stuff out their behinds!- Reply to this comment
- Oh. Yes..I am following this. Ye ''member the oil thing in 73. We as a high school class talked about this. As we debated we all came to this if and when this nation messes with the middle this is bound to happen. IT HAS. I never dreamt in my lifetime we have a presadent that would do just that, both bushes the ones. Sure. Get gid of the gas hogs of cars. IT IS TIME. We take mass transit. 9 DOLLARS a month , When up 4 dollars . The poor get poorer. 143 a barrel. That hurts.
