Time to wake up and smell the coffee. The era of cheap gas here in the U.S. is over. Now we need to act more responsibly and recognize, finally, that our actions have a global impact. If you are driving a large SUV and you think you are not part of the problem--pull your head out. You are the problem.

that is what happen when you depend on things out of your control ...I am no fan of Hummers , but I am for saving the American people''s livelihood and way of life . How many people will lose jobs , how many family will struggle , how many problems will arise from that , how many businesses have to close down ,...all that because we are dependent on Middle East Oil ...those Arabs are treating us like fools and worse yet , our congress are so stupid that they do not authorize drilling our oil up , this is insane , 50mi. from out Coast , China is drilling oil and yet , we the Americans CAn''t ??? Technology now will allow for Clean drillings , just pump up some of our oil and prices will go down , these prices for oil are so hyped up because we The US depend on foreign oil , once we start Drilling , it will go down right away and the whole world will thank us for that .

You folks need to put your money where your mouth is. You cannot bash GM for manufacturing big cars if you refuse to buy one of their small ones!

First, build one as good as the Japanese-made ones then come talk to me.

We have a few ''Hummers'' in my neighborhood. When I see one, I just smile and think what an idiot you are as they drive by. Most if not all of them are owned by Republicons ( ''w'' sticker on back windshield). I guess it makes the wimps feel macho... until the gas bill arrives on their credit card statement. I noticed a few more ''Hummers'' sitting on the used car dealers'' lots than there used to be. A sign of the times....

My dad is a tranportation superintendent for a large construction company in dubai, and he purchases close for 300+ cars a year. In the early 90''s he would only purchase american cars, Impala, Caprice and such. But in the last decade he has transitioned to Asian cars. Corollas and Camrys are standard now for him. Its maintenance mostly for him since gas prices arent a large factor in the middle east.

The Ford Excursion was an obscene example of 1990''s excess at 24 feet long and 11 MPG (at best). This is the kind of *** that Detroit has been throwing at the USA, and now they are paying the piper.

It''s a new world, and Asia is once again leading the way with it''s vehicles.

GOOD RIDANCE TO THE ALL THE HUMMERS, It was very irrisponsible in the First Place that G.M even made these Gas Suckers.

It''s call liquify COAL into Gas. The United States has more Coal then the Middle East has Oil. I saw that on CNN last weekend. If we liquify coal then we need to off set it by replacing the coal burning power plants with Clean Nuclear Power. We can Kiss the Middle Good Bye if we liquify Coal into Gas.

The hummer was always about status and never about being a practical vehicle! There is absolutely no practical reason to own one. It doesn''t even have as much room inside as most SUV''s , but it sure burns a lot more fuel.

"I have a 1996 Honda Accord with 152k miles on it...blah blah blah... GM vehicles do not have that kind of reliability.. blah blah blah"

How would you know? You''ve probably never even driven one. My GM (Pontiac) has well over 100K, runs like a top and costs me nothing except for routine maintenance. GM does make very good cars.
