You know don''t be suprised if the continued demise of the US dollar forces America to us some other type of currency. If other countries start to do the same as Iran you can pretty much expect it. Believe it or not this may happen sooner than later. You gotta think if the dollar becomes worthless to other countries why keep it. This is a harsh reality that we have to face. Alot of you may find this to be far fetched, but alot of us never thought we would see $3 and $4 gas prices either. 13 years ago gas was under a dollar. At best it may get to the point that the dollar can only be used in America, but what would be the worth of it since most of our *** come from overseas.

"wonder how many Americans would rather be paid in Euros or Yen rather than in dollars, given the value of today''s dollar." Posted by Kaelinda

I am American, and I don''t take US dollars, because the value drops so fast, I cannot complete my contracts with them. Euros, Yen, and Singapore Dollars I can accept.

It is amazing how your assessment can be so close to accurate, then turn to utter garbage by blaming it on the wrong people.

What unmitigated arrogance and stupidity to assume that America is the only country that sells wheat, corn, and rice. Even your spelling shows how uneducated you are.

The western countries forced the rest of the world into unregulated capitalism, this is the bed your "heroes" made for you to lie in, it is called "if you want to play, you gotta pay". But now that players are emerging that are proving to be better at you at your own game, you posit such foolishness.

When a few more countries get wise, and divest themselves of dollar denominated assets, whose value shrinks daily, then the dollar truly becomes worthless paper, you better hope hate and ignorance can somehow contain calories, because that is all you will have to eat.

Only a fool in a sinking boat continues to hate others on the way down.

The dollar has totally been removed from Iran''s oil transactions," Oil Ministry official Hojjatollah Ghanimifard told state-run television Wednesday. "...

so now the Dollar is worth less because of imcompetent
Republicans who see everyone as an enemy including their own citizens..

It never fails. Whenever there is an argument on the internet, sooner or later someone calls someone else a nazi.

I wonder how many Americans would rather be paid in Euros or Yen rather than in dollars, given the value of today''''s dollar. It shouldn''''t surprise anyone that Iran has given up on dollars, and it shouldn''''t surprise anyone when other nations follow suit. I wonder how long it will be before our creditor nations start demanding that we pay our debts. I wonder how long it will be before the USA has to declare bankruptcy. It''''s my guess that the entire middle class will have to be wiped out before the Democrats are happy with the new socialist USA.

Don''t they have oxegen on your planet???
You must be severely deprived judging by your obvious confusion as to where the fault lies for our present state of financial disaster. Here''s a hint.
It wasn''t the democrats.
It''s the same people who had the Presidency and a rubber-stamping congress and senate for 6 years.

Iran has been in the crosshairs since they started talking about seting up a trading bourse in Euros. Sadam was done when he mentioned switching from the dollar. Iran is next. If they are allowed to getaway with it, who knows who else will stop accepting our depreciating paper.

So, tell me... Right now we have so many mortgage foreclosures. The banks who gambled on giving out these subprime loans have ultimately lost. Their agents did not lose their commissions. Their CEOs did not lose their bonuses. They are currently being bailed out by the fed.
The fed is printing more money to give emergency loans to these mortgage houses. These are green seal notes. The red seal notes are the ones with value. 10 to 1 is the ratio of green to red. For every dollar you make from your paycheck, the fed can print 10 dollars. That gives the green seals the value of ten cents.
In our service economy, the people who actually supply labor are the people who actually prop up the superrich.
My point is, The government, or the fed, will actually own these houses. Someone will make a profit. I like to call it illegal manipulation of the markets at the peoples expense. They are tricking everybody into believing that these homes are valueless. Or they are paying off gambling debts. It''s a game being played by some very cruel people. They are no better than a freaking casino... providing false hope.

One Question, is the Iran threat the McCain election campaign as the 2003 invasion of Iraq was the Bush re-election campaign?

It is noteworthy that Iran has been moving away from the US dollar for several years now. They have finally taken the leap since the US has allowed the dollar to fall in the crapper as a matter of official monetary policy. Thanks, Mr. Bush.

The fall of the US dollar is creating a false perception that the value of gold has dramatically increased. Inasmuch as the falling dollar serves as a sort of inflationary pressure on commodity values, it can be argued that the value of gold and oil have not really gone up that much.

As for room for growth in gold, I found an interesting site that argues that the value of gold has hung around U$600-650 (in 1994 US dollars) for almost six centuries. If you allow for the idea that the dollar has merely gone down in value, gold has not actually gone up that much (aybe not at all).

In any event, it is certainly good to be cautious financially with any rapid growth area. It is always too late to get in when the elevator is on the top floor. The trick to making money in investing (whether in stocks, real estate, commodities or whatever) is in finding the next big thing before everyone else does. Easier said than done!! But certainly if your investment strategy involves jumping in once the value has spiked, you will almost always end up losing.

"Buy cheap and sell dear," is the motto, not "Buy dear when the economy is collapsing."

Hey bozo, how can you buy anything in a collapse economy. The Beast already controls the Banks. When the day comes, you would have a dime - the FDIC is a joke.
