Here''s an idea: Everyone go out and buy as much Exxon stock as is reasonably affordable. Let Exxon pay us something in the form of dividends for a change. Then, take those dividends and spend them with Exxon''s competitors, ie. Shell and Citgo, BP. Beware other types of branded gasoline, ie. Kroger. Many of these other ''off-branded'' outfits are using Exxon gas and labeling it as their own. I wrote Kroger about the brand of gas they are selling, and they wrote back only to say it''s ''proprietary'' information. Well, as a consumer, I think we should have the right to know what we are putting in our cars and bodies, right? So, as a result, by refusing to answer a simple question, I have concluded that Kroger is selling Exxon gas. Oh, I preceeded my inquiry be indicating I was boycotting Exxon for many reasons and wanted to know where thier fuel came from.

If there is a good thing about high oil prices, it is that it should remind us that it is a limited resource, and should be treated as such. That said, while I drive my 32mpg car to work each day with cruise control on the speed limit, people in the big V8s and SUVs fly by me on the highway everyday with apparently no regard for our future. And no, I live in an area where I have no access to public transportation, otherwise, I would certainly be using it.

If we cut down on our driving habits, if we cut down on our vacations, our socializing, would that help?

So this war in Iraq has cost each taxpayer about $10,000. All that is borrowed money of course. So not only are we paying $3.80 a gallon for gas, but we are paying $10,000 for the privilege. What a deal. I want a refund.

Oh wait, there is a refund on the way. $600 of my own borrowed money is coming to me soon to help me pay for higher food & gas prices. Then I get to pay that back with interest, on top of the $10,000 I already have to pay back for the Iraq war.

But I''m content. As long as I can wave my flag and have a hundred ribbon magnets on my Hummer, I''ll be just fine.
