- So what are we supposed to do? I have a long commute. I like my job and my home, so I don''t want to change either. There are hybrid, ethanol, and diesel cars. In the short run, if we stick with gasoline we need to be looking at more MPG. How do we do that. Manual transmissions, smaller size and weight, lower RPM. Instead of 0 to 60 in 5 seconds, it may be 0 to 60 in 20 seconds, like a semi truck. I''d like to hear more ideas if anyone has any.
