The US citizens have been living on the edge of their own huge credit expenditures for years. We''''ve forgotten how to live within our means. We allowed the lure of equaity financing and lost all investment in our homes back to the banks. We allowed the lure of buying stuff we didn''''t have the money for in the first place to scam us in interest payments.

As I said we were living and managing right on the edge, but it was maintainable until the Bush administration allowed the greed of the banking industry to completely go hog wild fleecing the public in more credit scams. Bad credit losses could be shored up by the government, but these huge credit loses we''''re experiencing now that people have no jobs has sent us right over the edge.

And, of course, his spending our tax dollars we used to shore up those credit loses on an illegal, total ''''unholy'''' war for greed in the Middle East will be costing us for years.

Now we''ve allowed these Neocons to get us over a barrel and making us pay for the stupid investment practice of these greedy bustards!

Get your dirty administration out of our White House!

Overhaul the financial regulatory system? Hell, I''d rather take my chances until a new administration, Republican or Democrat, gets into office. Didn''t these guys try to overhaul the Middle East by invading Iraq? This administration could screw up a one car junk yard. I don''t trust them any more.

Why would anyone consider any financial solution proposed by George W. Bush Jr.? Hello? Where is the laughter?

It''s hard to laugh, when you''re too busy crying over what this administration has done to our once great nation.

Complete control of the finance and banking system, sounds a lot like what the Socialists do when they gain power, do you want the Government getting involved with your finances?

Posted by lorinkundert at 12:00 PM : Mar 31, 2008

This is just so typical of the ignorant right.

Bush deregulated the banks, and the economy tanks because of shady dealings going on in corporate board rooms.

Now they''re going to put "sweeping reforms" in place to put regulations back into the financial system.

Then some moron from the right says, "Why are they going to get involved in your finances" like the government is going to tell you how to manage your own money! What a fool!

Hey Bush - LEAVE THINGS ALONE!!! EVERYTIME YOU TOUCH SOMETHING, IT TURNS TO SHHITT!!!

simpler yet would be the ability for individuals to incorporate themselves ... then deduct all the costs of living from your income ... food ... shelter ... transportation ... entertainment. just the cost of doing business ... the business of living.

One thing everyone needs to understand is that the FED is not in any way a Government institution, it is a private banking cartel owned in a large part by foreign entities. Try finding out they are.

The solution is for ordinary Americans to start brokerage houses, then we can borrow money from the Fed at the new discount rate of 2%, no limit to the borrowing, and pay off all our bad mortgages. Problem solved. When those loans come due we borrow some more. Jes like ol'' JP Morgan, but every individual gets to do it.

This subprime mess was caused by Bush deregulating the banks. So some socialist like regulation would be of some help.

I''d feel a lot better they went outside of the government to non-profit financial services and educational institutions for advise and oversight before making any changes. I mistrust any of our current administration to make any changes. They are the ones who allowed the problem to escalate to it''s present level in the first place.

Having Bushit involved at any level raises my hackles.
This sounds like slamming the corral gate after the livestock have all fled. What I''''d like to see is a broad sweep of existing financial instutions and corporations with arrests and harsh sentences handed out to send a message that we are tired of the BS policies. Let them do jail time instead of living the high life off of the money they earned for failing at their jobs. Gee you lost billions of dollars while drawing six and seven figure salaries and million dollars worth of stock options and bonuses. We need to send a no holds barred message that this is not the way to do business in America.
Take the jerks off of their estates and yachts and throw them in the slammer.

"rumour has it that if bear stearns had been forced into bankrupcy they would have dumped their holdings on the market for a firesale price. this in turn would have forced the market price down on all the other mortgage backed securities ... thereby causing liquidity issues for other major holders of these depreciating instruments (ie. other large banks). other failures could have followed ultimately leading to a complete meltdown of the us economic system. this would not really be good for anyone."

this should of happen period..if millions of good americans are being put on the streets because of these mortgage companys crime spree, than they also should of some pain, instead they were given billions of americans tax dollars to continue what they know best, take from the poor and give to the rich.

So this Republican Administration is trying to come up with an EXCUSE to enforce more CONTROLS, taking the power from the States who have enacted protective laws for the people, and establish another giant AGENCY in the same frame as the HOMELAND SECURITY. Does anyone care WHO is at fault for this financial frape or want to know its purpose? Just like the lies about WMD''s, no one will be held accountable. Just like the billions unaccounted for or ''lost'' in transit to Iraq, no one is responsible.

@ joyous88,

You are making no sense whatsoever. Did you not read my posts? I could care less about Bear Stearns. I said the gov. should NOT bail these institutions out! They should have known better. Please improve your reading comprehension.
