That is why the GOP ideology of "free trade" is exactly the opposite. It is collusion that includes the government at the highest levels.

It allows Exxon and Chevron and Shell to be allowed to start wars for oil and kill and rape villagers all over the world to steal their oil. That''s free trade for the rich. For the rest of us citizens of the world it is you''re screwed.

Try to understand that Exxon is a global network of real-estate and foreign investments. Not all the profits are from gas and oil. It is however obese knowing how starving people all over the world are dying. The CEO and others on the staff will be in for bonuses in the millions. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

They''re going to need that money to find more oil! Oil is such a lose. Their company depends on it so as the supply gets lower that games go on and get rougher. Note every time bush threatens Iran the price of oil goes up. Think there''s a connection?

buy gas there for $9/gallon, but you get free healthcare... PM

And they have plenty and far better public transportation. They need to charge 9 dollars there, because the people don''t need cars like in the US. Bet you never thought of that you friend of the monster profit oil industry, you.

===record profits are a direct result of record number of buyers - more buyers, more profits - simple!===

And if they reduced gas by 1/3, by one dollar a gallon, they would still make record profits. But they don''t even though it would be a win-win. It''s called price-gouging.

===liberals move to your beloved France, buy gas there for $9/gallon, but you get free healthcare===

France should be beloved. Without them, we would not have won the Revolution. France is one of America''s oldest allies. In fact, they are our first ally, far longer than Britain.

The filthy rich oil tyrants just need more million-dollar chandeliers and solid gold toilets in their personal jumbo-jets, that''s all.
Our addiction to oil will not end until it''s $10 a gallon.....

If the oil companies were not in coulusion with each other, then there would be a variance in prices'' from one brand to the next???
If the oil companys lowered there prices 50%,only(robbing us for half of the money they take now,) making one half of the profit they are making, how much better would the economy be?

Since we know the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were really for Exxon and the other oil companies, here is a poem in honor:

C''mon, C''mon GOP
Keep on drivin'' your SUV
It doesn''t matter cause we''ll steal their oil
Plus you can watch the planet boil
It doesn''t matter you can drive your SUV
And watch the poor suffer on your bigscreen TV
And you don''t worry cause it''s all about ME.

"Exxon Mobil produces about 3 percent of the world''s oil."

AND THEY MADE A KILLING? This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Remember folks, these guys were celebrating at the turn in the political situation in the US. They knew they were going to get away with literal robbery and they flat out rejoice over their shameful leaching of the economy in full view of all to see. They have no sense of responsibility outside of what is the best way to take our money. Taxes? What does it matter if taxes are cut? The corporations rule this country and they are the ones taxing us. And they are not giving anyone a break. Remember, just yesterday they cried that they were going to raise the prices by a dollar a gallon this spring because they were forced to switch to summer time fuel. Thieves.

Following on - high oil prices lead directly to high refined chemical prices. Since everything in this world is made from chemicals, this will eventually result in higher costs to the customer. Also, since the likes of WalMart are forever trying to drive down prices in the face of higher costs, those in manufacturing feel the pinch harder nad harder. Hence the relocation of jobs overseas, or the straight elimination of jobs. So, overall, high oil prices, while they mean higher tax payments for the oil companies, result in a far larger tax base being lost - the American worker. No; high oil prices are a very bad thing for the economy.
