ioweign: That must explain why US auto sales have plummeted in the past few years. We are so productive that we have worked ourselves out of a job. Please. Wake up and smell the guy''''s next to you arm pits and see if he is even alive, never mind working. Don''''t fall for the propaganda put out by the Republicans. Independent research payed by the politicians that are trying to prove something. Remember: Liars figure and figures lie. Stick to what you can see with your own eyes. 40 years of watching union workers cheat their employers has left me witha jaundiced eye as far as the union is concerned.

Auto sales and Auto productivity are two different things. Auto sales depend on style, quality and price (just a few off the top of my head). Auto productivity depends on manufacturing/making the product ( manhours used to create the product) .

The company determines the style, colors, material used for the auto.

The company determines HOW to build the auto.

Anyone remember the 1959 Pontiac ? Anyone remember Pontiac ads which stated "wide-track" ride ?

Every citizen of the US should be on "strike" not for the UAW but for all of the outsourcing, the higher prices and lower wages, healthcare and the Iraq war (opposing) it. Where is this nations cajones, where is this nations unity? A one week strike, do not buy anything, do not go to work and constantly write and phone your "poodles" until they become the American peoples lapdogs.

You are so right and the ones that disagree are the brainwashed by Bush and Cheney, Big corporation bosses and people who are making so much money they couldn''t care less. This is about government Cheney and Bush and the Big bosses trying to break the American workers back and you all whine about the golden parachutes and big CEO ''s paychecks but ignore the very ones who are fighting for you Get up and support them fight Bush and the big Corp. You can not think about today you have to think about tomorrow. Help them and you will be making a statement to Bush SHOVE your Big Bosses you know where give the hardest workers in the world what they deserve.

It is productivity that is hurting the US economy. The others, you know, the foriegners, are so much better at it. I have been in the work force for over forty years and all I see is the union worker looking to get out of as much work as he can and get paid for it.
They are on strike? So what?

Posted by jairod at 09:23 AM : Sep 25, 2007

Wrong - the US of A is the most productive. In fact, there was just a report about it and how much time Americans spend on the job.

Basically, they want to have the right to goof off, to sleep on the job, to fake their time cards, to do anything but what they were hired for, and get paid for it and laugh all the way to the bank for "putting it to the man." Unions disgust me. Their time is over. They talk about the escesses of management, well the union leaders can be accused of the same thing, and the line workers follow suit from their leaders, both management and union. So, they''re on strike. Big deal. They will never recover what they are losing for being out, no matter how much overtime they make. If the union and management cannot agree on how to solve the biggest problem - productivity - nothing will ever be resolved with monetary compensation for the union or management. It is productivity that is hurting the US economy. The others, you know, the foriegners, are so much better at it. I have been in the work force for over forty years and all I see is the union worker looking to get out of as much work as he can and get paid for it.

Also, let me educate the people who claim the CEOs and other managers make too much money: the stockholders, through the Board of Directors, make those decisions. If you think CEOs too much money, buy stock and you''''''''ll have a vote. Until then, CEO compensation is none of your business. This is the USA, not Communist China.

Hmmm Enron ring a bell !!

How about TYCO, smartass !

CEO compensation is our business because WE make it our business !

Striking for ''job security and healthcare.'' You''re striking yourselves right out of jobs. What a bunch of morons. Job security? Who has that? That''s NOT how America works and is, in fact, anti-American.

You want job security and cradle to grave healthcare? Then move to Germany with the other socialists.

First, we live in a FASCIST COUNTRY.

Second, I hope EVERY Fascist Corporation shuts down.

Third, the ONLY way out of Fascism without WAR is by GIVING UP. Stop working. Quit. We physically keep The Machine/Our Prison going.

This hasty strike against GM may spell bad news for the workers in the various GM plants.

Its rather ironic that the UAW is fighting for better job security when their strike is jeopardizing it every hour of every day that the production lines are halted.

But I guess its okay since the UAW is fighting for their retiree health benefits. They''ll soon realize that many more GM workers are going to be forced to retire much sooner than they had planned, especially if the strike is a long one and causes more lost revenue/profits for GM.

Those on the picket lines may soon learn the term of "unintended consequences" more than ever before.

Enjoy!
