Obviously, all the toys from China have excessive levels of lead in them, and they are doing recalls to try and lesen the impact. Why doesn''t the U.S. government or Matel sue them. Oh, because they can''t. The judicial system has no juristiction over Chinese companies.

"(I don%u2019t recall thousands of us dying from POISONED TOYS when we were kids, & those had lead back then)"[Posted by eggy1620]

It isn''t about dying. It''s about learning disabilities, mental health and developmental problems.

"Aren%u2019t you the same crowd that has been saying that it is our duty to lift these people out of poverty?" [Posted by eggy1620]

No. and these workers aren''t being lifted out of poverty - they are slaves on subsistance wages with no rights or benefits. How many Americans are now in poverty because their jobs have gone overseas? And I certainly haven''t seen huge price drops because of the "cheap" labor.

Are you all suggesting that western companies should completely divest from operations in the developing world? Aren%u2019t you the same crowd that has been saying that it is our duty to lift these people out of poverty? The ONLY competitive advantage the third world has right now, today, is cost of operations. Take that away from them, and they will be starving en masse again like they were 50 yrs ago. This harmless (I don%u2019t recall thousands of us dying from POISONED TOYS when we were kids, & those had lead back then) manufacturing incident is just one kick in pants foreign manufacturers need to further develop their economies.

Eggy; I don''t think it''s our responsiblity to "lift"the entire globe out of poverty, when people right here that needs the help, ..Which is going to get worse, before it gets better!

And to Mattel; you get what you deserve. Next time leave the jobs here, We have a growing illegal population that needs the work, And before I forget, (unlike Washington D.C) we have regular Americans that could use the work too!

The buck stops with Mattel for allowing their out-sourced manufacturing to ever get to the toy store without quality control.

You get what you pay for, Mattel. Slave labor equals inferior products. I wish you no success.

I hear some Barbies are equipped with a life-like slapping motion if you try to take away their little plastic "Prada" shoes.

They''re such little materialistic girls!

There are ways you can test for lead yourself, on toys or other materials/items.

www.leadtestkits.com

I know, I can just predict the responses...

..."Why should we have to do this ourselves? Shouldn''t the government be responsible for the safety of us?!"

My response to that:

If our government gave a FVCK about our health, why would our government allow over 40 million people to go without basic health care coverage?!

We have to do the testing ourselves, or accept the risk of a careless government.... no longer "for the people."

Criminal Corporate America
Would of done - Exceptionally well in :
The Nazi Death Camps

Same Mentally - Same Ideology
Different Tactic - - Different Method
..........

Lastdance,

Good analogy.

I can just see all the prisoners of the death camps saying:

"Wow, tons of toys for the children and an all-you-can-eat salad bar at every meal! Is this a concentration camp or a vacation?!"
