There are many good points made on this post and whilst I am far from being a conspiracy theorist the following should also be considered. A few weeks ago China executed the head of their FDA for taking graft from Pharmaceuticals. This was just one incident amongst many where corporate America have attempted illegally to subvert a foreign government, as they have done all over the world. We read continually that countries like China and Russia are becoming a problem, the problem however is that They are becoming increasingly worried about the "Elite" the international corporate criminals, mainly based in America, buying and subverting their government for profit. The very fact that Bush and his buddies are part of that crooked Elite reflects upon all of us. China and Russia are booming and these evil globalists want to get their hands on the cash and will stop at nothing to get it. If it means war so be it, they win both ways. They are the so called Illuminati, the Bilderbergers. China nor Russia want them and will resist anyway they have to, a course which we should adopt. If there is panic in Wall Street it is recognition that they have been rumbled and that they are having trouble getting their fingers into a big fat pie. The net result of this criminal behaviour will be borne by the America people, over and over again and until we do something about our crooked and evil politicians who endorse and support this policy of world domination.

Interesting dilemma.
Communist China is in some ways MORE capitalist that the US. Knew those Levi's and Coca-Colas that broke the Chinese trade barriers would work.
Unfortuntely, the irresponsible reapportionment of US wealth and assets has destabilized not only the economy of THIS country but worldwide.

Goods need buyers or they're worthless.

Concetrating wealth to the top 5 percent dangerously NARROWS the market and eventually leads to COLLAPSE.
The European BANKERS that OWN our currency had to make an EMERGENCY move to stabilize their created market and it only promises to get WORSE with the upcoming fund collapses due to the OVERVALUATION of our housing assets.

Hold on to you hats but BEWARE of saving DOLLARS!
After the funds collapse the DOLLAR is next.

I think the Chinese are here in force spying and accumulating knowledge on how the typical American lives, thinks and reacts. They will use this to influence all of our traditions. If it comes down to actually losing the country to outside influence that would be the time to nationalize everything. We as a country should opt out of this mess.

Perhaps the Chinese noticed that we feed our children high fructose corn syrup, inject them with neurotoxic mercury, fill their teeth with mercury vapor producing malgams, have them brush their teeth with sodium fluoride from the indjustrial waste of aluminum making and used as a deadly rat poison and load them up with MSG, aspartame and other excitotoxins....Heck, what's a little lead? ;)

"but in the end I concluded that because of local Politics, National pride, Historical considerations, Cultural pride and other variables too numerous to list, a Global Economic one world system would always be just a dream! "

More like a nightmare.

Your whole concept is pretty silly,

Dude, I did add "and other variables too numerous to list", I had only 1500 characters and kept chopping text off to make it all fit, I mentioned some of your issues but ran out of room to add them all, I wrote in the "glass half full" context you replied in the "glass half empty" context! but to add to what you've mentioned, there are Cultures in the U.S. who act the same way, I won't mention them but they do not play fair and work as a group against other Americans and its more than one Culture too!

Your whole concept is pretty silly, because in an unorganized system, whoever bands together and organizes wins. So in the global economy, China plays as a single unit, and America does not. They are destroying us in the competition, because they have acoordinated national strategy and we do not. Just as GE destroys much more innovative and worthy industrial competitors who are smaller, and aren't tied in to the government. So there can never, never, never be an unorganized free market. Free markets can only exist with a vigilant and active power or government as police, keeping monopolies and trusts and unions from breaking the fairness of the competition. There is no global power like that, nor will there be. Those who "dream" of a global free market at worst are reprehensible traitors and at best are idiots.

Thanks to the Bush administrations reckless spending and getting us into an illegal war, we are between a rock and a hard place. If we don't start cutting out our reckless spending, priortizing our NEEDED EXPENSES, and cut out things we can no longer afford we are headed into a recession. The signs are out their our govenment leaders refuse to acknowledge what a mess they have us in. The engine that keeps the world makets spinning is sputtering to disaster.
Wake up Americans.

Don't worry, China does not understand Americans as well as they think! Just the Chinese threat alone without its execution has already done more damage than they realize. To steal a phase from President Bush's father, "watch and learn!". I have no idea why China even went there! Like the saying goes, don't draw your weapon unless you plan on using it!

Or I might add when China threatens our country.

Americans won't hesitate one moment to cut the import lifeline and shift their allegiance from Chinese products that might poison their children or kill their pets.

Unlike organized labor or human rights groups, consumers don't have to mobilize to effect change; they only have to demobilize by not spending. And their bargaining agents -- WalMart, Target, Toys R. Us -- have immensely more clout than the AFL-CIO and Amnesty International ever had in fostering change in China.

No problem consider demobilization of spending in palce for this consumer.

BOTTOMLINE: Corporations simply DO NOT CARE about OUR COUNTRY. They care about PROFIT. It is a global economy, not a national one.

People also need to be aware that the same is true about Bush, Cheney and the neoconservative movement they represent. They do not care about America. They are internationalists first and foremost and see America as nothing more then a large bank with pretty good credit. Of course that was before they borrowed us into massive debt. Their next move is to leave for the Middle_east once the bills start coming due. they do not now and never did care about this country or the American people, beyond what they could bleed out of us. When they have bled us dry they'll run and leave us holding the bills. They are not Americans, they are thieves who are in the process of pulling off the greatest robbery in the history of the world.

I had to write a paper on the impact of the Global Economy on National Economies and it was one of the hardest papers I ever had to write. At the root of the problem is the way Nations value their goods and only competition keeps a Nation honest. The Post by HDINSIGHT above hits the nail on the head because most think National Economy while their Nation thinks Global Economy and that's the problem, the disconnect! The Public in all Nations think in Patriotic National Economic terms while their Government, Corporations and Businesses are now thinking and operating in Global Economic terms. I came to the conclusion that a true Global Economy means dissolving National Economy's, the 2 types can coexist together but really are not compatible. A global Economy implies a Global World, a Global View, Nations dissolve, a real functioning U.N. takes center stage, a World Flag replaces National Flags, national Military's dissolve because in a Global view who do they represent? In it's essence I came to the conclusion that a Global Economy implies a Global one World view, but in the end I concluded that because of local Politics, National pride, Historical considerations, Cultural pride and other variables too numerous to list, a Global Economic one world system would always be just a dream!

The tax cuts have led to an unprecedented increase in government revenues. That's the numbers.

The problem is caused by the elites on Wall Street who connived with their Red Chinese buddies to use cut-rate labour in China to undercut American producers, using 'free trade' to knock out tarrifs and tax expenditures to cut their expenses with regard to transportation. The profits could then be divvied up between them. If you understand that racket, the various ways in which transfer pricing is disguised to avoid prosecution and the manipulated FOREX markets, then you've pretty much got a handle on the import side of America's foreign trade.

neoconRcrazy--Precisely...the only obligations out there that had any protection for the holder that I can recall were some gold-backed ones sold through the Dutch Antilles, if memory serves...and, whether they are still outstanding I don't know... but, I haven't followed bonds in a long, long time.

HangBush: The Chinese is a culture that has long distrusted others. If you study China, you will see that they do not like anyone else including Americans, British, and Japanese. They do not like to be told how to do things and they see our capitalistic ways as evil. They have lond competed with us for World Superpower and they will continue to do so. I have a feeling this "nuclear option" stems from the decline in their own stock market and in only flustered by the development of the Euro.
You need to read "The Chinese Century" by Oded Shenkar before you make any more false statements.

The Chinese have a tiger by the tail, with their rapidly expanding economy. Ever since their former leader said "it is glorious to be rich" they have been expanding. I do not think that they thought it would happen so quickly nor so strongly.

It is my view that you have to take things gradually when it comes to macro economics. Business likes predictability to make future projections. China is not trying to hurt us economically, but this announcement shows how upset they are.

Stop buying everything made in China and letting all the Chinese come over here and work and adopting babies from them. STOP helping them sink America.
