- LIES LIES LIES...WHEN WILL THEY STOP THE LIES? Alcohol is not natural and pot is. Processed is better than natural? Yet the liberals who demand control over our lives tells us to eat PROCESSED oil and not to injest natural butter.
Double minded in all ways.

- Sounds like more "reefer madness" lies and propaganda to justify government oppression.
"Politics in the U.K. may be driving the effort to analyze an association between marijuana and mental illness, Armentano tells WebMD."
Ya think? From a government and from researchers whose professional funding (and thus professional careers and status) are dependent upon keeping a government funding agency happy?
From governments like USA and UK with such a pristine reputation of being honest with their citizens about every little thing?
Pot was made illegal in the US to help racist state governments of California and ARizona oppress their Mexican and Black populations--at the time Whites prefered booze and tobacco--by federalizing the crime with a phony license and tax scheme, where was a mere pretext for taking this typically state law matter into the hands of the Bluebellies. - Reply to this comment
- 50 years old. Smoked daily for over 30 years. Pay my bills on time. Take 1 or 2 sick days a year, if that. Keep a clean house. Eat right. Exercise daily. Recycle. Made a conscious choice not to have children.
What about me is psychotic? - Reply to this comment
- They forgot to mention this in the article.
Perhaps they smoked some and forgot to mention the two paid people.Several authors reported being paid to attend drug company-sponsored meetings related to marijuana, and one received consulting fees from companies that make antipsychotic medications."
From MSNBC web site.
"In the U.K., the government will soon reconsider how marijuana should be classified in its hierarchy of drugs. In 2004, it was downgraded and penalties for possession were reduced. Many expect marijuana will be bumped up to a class %u201CB%u201D category, with offenses likely to lead to arrests or longer jail sentences.
Two of the authors of the study were invited experts on the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs Cannabis Review in 2005. Several authors reported being paid to attend drug company-sponsored meetings related to marijuana, and one received consulting fees from companies that make antipsychotic medications." - Reply to this comment
- More GOON Juice from Big Pharma, waitin'in the wings to come up with a potion. This is yet another smoke and mirrors story to deflect from the real issues.
Like a crooked FDA, a Bent President and Mafia pharmaceuticals, all taking us for a ride, filling us with poison and getting very fat from it. - Reply to this comment

- My challenge for Dr. Stanley Zammit:
Using every technique known to modern science evaluate 1000 people, aged 20 to 30, and predict which of them will show psychosis after age 50. You won't be able to do it. So how can you possibly look back and claim to have controlled for all variables that might lead to psychosis to the point you can honestly say marijuana use results in a 40% increase in psychosis. You don't even know what the variables are enough to make predictions for the future let alone evaluate the past. - Reply to this comment
- I think the researchers been smoking too much pot.

- I'm sure the Pharmaceutical industry will come up with a pill to sell all the baby boomer who smoked pot in the 60's and 70's to alleviate the problem. The only problem is it will cost $1500 a bottle in America because the Republicans won't allow free trade for this industry, even if it's from some of our more reliable neighbors. Once they(the Republicans) dump their pharmaceutical stocks then America can get cheaper drugs from overseas.

- Too bad the weed here in AZ is so nasty. I'd like to see if I get anxiety and paranoia. I just remember getting stoned during my youth in Seattle. If you must alter yourself to dull the world you live in, better pot then alcohol. I'd much rather have a few more anxious people then aggro drunks out there.

- Possible risks? It is fact! There's nothing 'cool' about paranoia and hallucinations.

- This study doesn't seem to prove much. People with addictive personality will get hooked on things, whether it's alcohol, gambling, pot, or whatever. Addicts also tend to have more mental and psychological problems in general. A far more damaging, yet legal substance, is alcohol.

- I think this article is very misleading. Could it be that people with pre-existing psycotic disorders chose to self medicate with marijuana? It sounds like the old chicken and the egg proverb.
