Nursing Home Cat Named Oscar Seems to Know When Death Is Near
- I don't see anywhere that the cat is being seen as "comforting" anyone.

I have seen this behavior before, and its not all that rare.

I know that they are capable of it. I've owned quite a few cats (and have one now). But my point was that comforting doesn't seem to be the focus in THIS cat. - Reply to this comment
- Good Morning "erasmus6"
I Thank you for your explanation, because this is something wihch bother me, trough years and everydays, I LEARNED A LOT OF WITH CAT'S!
and this is really truth, that they exchange your afection by naturaly donating them perceptions, "The cat's after adult; WE DO NOT CHOOSE THEM, THEY ACCEPT US OR NOT!"(They can survive alone!):D
Yes ERASMUS, you understood, i feel and that in stranger ways, when some eminent attack is just to happen, by freezing sensation of my femural bones and buterflys on my stomac, and when is a real essay to murder, then if i will be at the scene, i have sensation the the winds stoped and the wiew picture slow motion, and is like something it's trying to paralise me...
Then Now i learned: When this sensation comes, make like ur cat's.. RUUuuunnnn! Ruuuunn alway, and it did work many times, i got out of trouble since then Just like my cat's ;-)
DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IT'S. CUZ I DON'T BELIVE IN NOTHING, SCIENT MAKES SENSE, BUT I LIKE TO HAVE SOMETHING OF MY "Felidaes"...

- They should let Oscar run loose around the GOP Convention so we can get an advance notice on how many seats the GOP will lose in the 2008 Elections! LOL

- Many people don't understand how truly amazing the bond between cats and people is. Dogs are pack animals, and to them we are like other dogs. Cats are loners and territorial and yet they like our companionship. They do not treat us in any way that remotely resembles the way they treat each other. Also, when cats are dying, they don't seek companionship, they hide to die alone. Yet they want to be close to people who are dying. I think their behavior towards us is truly remarkable.
And for the person who said they are attracted by death because they are waiting to eat us, sorry but that's incorrect: cats are predators, not scavengers. - Reply to this comment

No, I do not work at CBS.
ESP means that your brain has the ability to do more than most others can do. And yes there are more people like you. You have the ability to sense things before they happen.
As for the rest of what you have written, I am not sure I understand what you were saying. - Reply to this comment
- I think cats are both very intuitive and compassionate animals.
When I've had surgery or been sick, my cats would stay in bed with me and wouldn't leave my side. They would even follow me all through the house, to the bathroom and when I went back to bed, they stayed with me.
After shoulder surgery I found it hard to stay asleep because I kept trying to roll over or lay back onto my left shoulder which caused great pain. After a few nights of this my cat Buddy laid behind my left shoulder so I couldn't lay back or roll over onto it. He both protected me from hurting myself and comforted me with his body heat since it made the shoulder hurt a little less, and his purring lulled me back to sleep. - Reply to this comment
- After my passing, my body will be just an empty shell. Dispose of it as you wish.

- Hey, Oscar made the news - way to go Oscar!!! :D
Funny he's such a sourpuss about getting cuddles and kisses but shows such interest in snuggling with people close to passing . . . when it comes to pets I prefer to believe it's compassion at work rather than erasmus' theory although that sounds like that could very well be true.
But if heaven forbid I should come up with a terminal illness, I've decided I'm going to tuck some ham into my pocket to keep my Sammipoo from running away or from taking a nibble from other temptations jic - lol! :o
PS So many interesting pet stories in the comments section from everybody . . . aren't pets wonderful? :) - Reply to this comment
