People seem to have forgotten about the 50+ dogs that were confiscated when they raided Vick''s property all of whom may have to eventually be euthanized. Worse then that, because of possible pending trials, none of those dogs can be dealt with (either put up for adoption - highly unlikely or euthanized - most likely). These dogs are now being kept in local pounds, and since they are trained fighting dogs no other animals can be put in a these kennels with them. That means that 50 kennels that might serve lost or otherwise needy dogs, (and usually more then one animal to a kennel) are being used indefinitely by VICK''S dogs. Any other dogs (lost or abandoned) will probably have to be euthanized very quickly due to the lack of space. And these Vick dogs could tie that space up for months or more because they are potential evidence! So Vick not only viciously killed the 8 dogs that did not come up to par for his disgusting dog fighting business but he sentenced all his dogs potentially to death. He may also be responsible for dozens of dogs, if not hundreds who will have to die. This man is a monster on so many levels and there is nothing I can see that he could do that would redeem him in any way!

When are people going to realize that every time they play the race card as a defense, it weakens their own position that much more.

The crime here wasn''t racial, dogs could care less about race. The outrage isn''t because of Vick''s skin, but due to his cruelty and lack of regard for life, followed by bald faced lies. The outrage isn''t confined to "nuts" from PETA, either, but extends to people of all races who believe in the sanctity of all life.

Let''s hope Mr. Vick gets the sentence he deserves, not some minimal deal worked out by lawyers because he''s a celebrity. He''s a disgrace to all of us.

Actually that''s why the males of the human species created God.

God was made in the image of Man.

Let us not forget that God created these animals and gave them to Adam and Eve to enjoy. And told them to take care of his creatures and love them as I do and do no harm to them. God will be the last judgment on this case. The only animals that he allowed us to kill was herding animals and that was after he had kicked Adam and Eve out of his garden of paradise. Vick has done wrong in the eyes of God and man and he is not fit to be in our presence.

This idiot proves that he, like most other "sports stars" should be sent back to their previous status of ONLY a sport star. Not allowed to open their mouths except to endorse cereals or shoes. This country has, for some wierd reason, put them on pedestals they do not deserve to be on. They are good at their respective sports, I guess, but that absolutely does NOT mean they are smart, wise, or worth the stupid salaries they get...which buy the way, comes straight out of your pockets. They are, for the most part, stupid, and don''t care to have more education. This vick person is a prime example of a stupid kid. It doesn''t take a huge brain to play a game.
With the acts he has admitted to and the others he won''t admit to, he has shown that he doesn''t deserve ANY of the accolades he''s gotten. He''s nothing more than a street kids who like to kill dogs and other animals. And studies prove his next step, if he hasn''t already taken it, will be other humans. He needs to be put into prison with the general population and left there for the rest of his life including while drawing his last breath. He''s nothing, not worthy of any respect of any kind. He is simply another worthless member of our specie. unfortunately. I only wish he lived in Maiposa county where Joe Arpaio is in charge of things.

As stated in the White Collar Crime Prof Blog, %u201CA best-case scenario for Vick that the defense lawyers may be seeking is a %u201CMartha Stewart%u201D double-nickel sentence: five months in prison, five months of home confinement. The government%u2019s offer would most likely call for a term of a year-and-a-day, which under the Bureau of Prisons guidelines would allow Vick to receive a 15% good time credit, reducing his sentence by 54 days to a bit over ten months. Any sentence under a year that his attorneys are trying to negotiate would have to come in under ten months for it to be an advantage because there is no good time credit if the sentence is a year or less.%u201D http://www.chuckgallagher.com

EVERY CHOICE HAS A CONSEQUENCE. Michael Vick is just another example...and an unfortunate example of one who is suffering far reaching consequences for his choices.

The Choices Foundation, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to teaching young people the relationship between choices and consequences. %u201CIf we can impress on the mind of our youth the direct correlation between what we choose and the consequences that follow, perhaps we can help them avoid consequences like those Michael Vick are facing,%u201D stated Choices Foundation founder Chuck Gallagher. http://www.chuckgallagher.com

After his sentence, I hope Vick gets a little wiser - a) Dont use dogs, go for some other animal (cows are the easiest, but deer are more fun), b) Call your operation, say, "Good Neighborz Kennels", c) Choose high-powered rifles to exterminate instead of methods of "extreme cruelty", preferably NRA approved, d) Make sure you donate your money to a "good cause".

A pity - its all about nuance!! I say dont kill any animals for any purpose!

I still can''t believe that he would have been so cruel to those animals. I can''t imagine anyone being able to hang or drown a dog. I am extremly pleased that he could possibly get 5 years if the judge goes for max. I hope he does. I always like Vick, but after this I can''t see how anyone could still be on his side.
