- That's slightly different Rudy. Troy Gentry is a C&W semi-star. You're talking a segmented market with a specific, relatively small, fan base.
NFL is big time, national prominent, and has a huge fan base. Not only that, the extent of what Vick and company are being charged with is far greater than Gentry's offense.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not condoning what Gentry did, but he's not going to garner as much media coverage as Vick, not because of race, but because of status. Had it been Garth Brooks or Toby Keith, you'd have heard a LOT more about it. - Reply to this comment

That is what the racist lynching is all about canine se.ex partners for ***** white hoz; since millions of cows, pigs, sheep, chicken, turkeys, etc, etc are slaughtered in this country every year without all this racist fuss.
And we are enjoying human fighting in Iraq that is killing hundreds of thousands of HUMAN BEINGS without any fuss.
Every time there is an ALLEGATION against an African American in this country, the white supremacist bigots come out in droves with they lynching ropes.
Pit bulls were bred to fight.
PIT BULLS SERVE NO OTHER PURPOSE than to be put in a pit to bite on each other, AS IS THE NATURE OF DOGS.
Vick is INNOCENT of any wrongdoing, even if someone uses his house to fight dogs that have no other good use but to mate ***** white hoz or MAUL CHILDREN! - Reply to this comment
- tucanofulano you arrogant, ignorant p.o.s. "supportive of anyone reducing population of pittbulls, dobermans, etc". Canines have more loyalty & love for their owners than most people are even capable of. It is the nature of people that turn these animals bad, not the reverse. Are we not supposed to be good stewards of this great earth & all it's creatures, being that we are "the Great Mankind"? Instead, a small percentage of people, like your Michael Vicks & say, you.. are so pompous of our role in nature. Why not kill all sharks in the sea because, hey, sometimes sharke kill people...and...aligators, yeah..they occasionally kill people too..Wait, a bear killed someone last year...;et's kill all the bears!! Where does it stop for morons like yourself?

- A white starting QB in the NFL would be getting as much press if not MORE if he'd done the same thing. Could you imagine John Elway, Brett Favre or Joe Montana doing this? The media fallout would be ENORMOUS. And yes those are HUGE NFL stars, but Vick's contract money and endorsement deals basically put him in the same level.

Maybe you're right, but I really don't think so. About a year ago, Troy Gentry was fined for taking a pet bear (tame) out on his property, shooting it with arrows, and tagging it as if he hunted it out in the woods. It didn't get much press at all. When an article on this CBS site came out highlighting his wonderful celebrity, I made comments about his illegal activity, and CBS deleted my comments. In fact, this man is making the rounds, playing at political fundraisers, and is gladly accepted. So, from where I am, there is a difference here in how these folks are being treated. Furthermore, another problem that is prominent is cockfighting. Just as inhumane, bloody and violent of a sport. Yet, until June of this year, Louisiana hadn't even banned the sport, which is still legal in other U.S. territories. Where is the similar outcry? I completely agree if this man is guilty, let him suffer the consequences. - Reply to this comment
- "This man hasn't been convicted yet, and surely we will get a chance to hear the evidence, until then, why so much coverage on this one guy - someone I didn't even know existed until a few days ago?

- "Race is not the issue here. I keep seeing comments that have already named Vick as guilty in this situation. Yes, one of the co-defendants plead guilty but this does not further prove Vick's guilt or innocence. The co-defendant was an inhabitant of the house. Vick was not. ANWAYS, let the courts do their job. Stop condemning the man based upon your emotions. Nothing has been proven yet.

That's the beauty of having a brain and being free to use it. I can condemn anybody I *** well feel like, and you can't do anything about it. You disagree, that's your right and opinion. But from what I've seen about this case, there's no possible way he's innocent. If he's proven so in a trial, then so be it, I was wrong, water under the bridge (it's not like my condemning him has any wide ranging effect anyway...eventhough I'd still believe he's guilty).
Aye, innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and that'll be soon. - Reply to this comment
- My great grandfather fought in the Civil War as a Yankee. His brother turned him in to the confederates and he spent a year in Andersonville prison, one of the survivors. My greatgrandfather had his health broken to free slaves in this country. I have always been a champion for civil rights. This is why I do not understand some of the responses supporting Vick.
Wow! You must be really old if your great-grandfather fought in the Civil War. Even so, I don't see what that has to do with anything. And, I don't know that anyone is supporting this man, if he indeed did this crime. If he did, then by all means let him suffer the consequences. However, there is a dispute as to whether or not he is being targeted by all the media coverage because of race. Many don't think so, and I think that is because they aren't really aware of how racism works. Oh sure, if they see it in the reverse, such as the injustice in the Duke case, then they notice. But if it involves some African Americans, then they get upset the minute racism is mentioned - they're accused of crying wolf. That alone shows the racist aspect of the complaint. This man hasn't been convicted yet, and surely we will get a chance to hear the evidence, until then, why so much coverage on this one guy - someone I didn't even know existed until a few days ago? - Reply to this comment
