People mistreat animals everyday. You mistreat animals just by wearing fashionalble leather and fur. Eating Kentucky Fried Chicken, buying from pet stores etc... but people are so outraged at this one man fighting dogs. This is nothing new. People have been doing this to dogs and chickens for a long time. I find Rodeo and Bull Fighting even cruel. The circus is cruel and even the zoo having animals in those small cages. So what are you going to do about that? Will you be outrage about that too or your just going to wait for the media to tell you some idiot football player has been doing this. Are you outraged at global warming??????? That is killing animals more then Mr. Vick.

Some of you dummies are so upset about dogs dying that your becoming racist pigs (BLACK AND WHITE). Like this has something to do with race. It goes to show you don't give a *** about animals just about mistreating each other like ***!

GET A CLUE PEOPLE!!!!

"According to the indictment, dogs that didn't show enough fighting spirit, or that lost matches, were put to death by a variety of methods, including shooting, drowning, hanging and electrocution. Prosecutors allege that on one occasion earlier this year, Vick participated in killing eight dogs."

Well Mr. Vick, when the dogs couldn't fight, you killed them. I guess if you can't play football anymore, then....

Michael Vick needs to go to jail for a very long time. I have been folowing this case from the beginning and the types of animal cruelty being listed makes me sick. He would hang, drown and even slam dogs heads into the ground untill they died. The NFL commissioner needs to kick him out of the NFL. The Falcons would be better off without him, he is one of the highest paid quarterbacks in the league, but performs under par. Let the Falcons save some money and put it in real talent, and hurt Vick through his pocket.

"These people's race or culture had nothing do to with their being very sick and abusing those dogs"

Well let's examine that for a moment. Obviously there were a group of people involved - that in itself suggests SOME kind of micro culture which condoned this behavior - and we know they're not the ONLY people doing this... So who does? Well, for one - dog fighting rings are common among gang members, thugs, gangstas, etc... as are guns, violence, drugs etc... and we ALL know there does exist a subculture surrounding those groups - heck, it's a problem the black community fights every day as it affects them directly. So, since this case is NOT so much about just ANY guy running a dog fighting ring, but a mega famous rich athlete involved despite having EVERY imagineable reason NOT to - is it SO outrageous to suggest that he's fallen in with the wrong crowd... a crowd with its own culture... a culture that promotes this sort of thing? And while on the surface it seems ridiculous he'd ever get caught up in this given his status, he's allowed that subculture to influence his decisions & judgement for reasons of acceptance - even though he's clearly got much more to risk?

Frankly, I don't think I'm out of line saying Vick should have disassociated himself with that crowd, but for reasons only HE can answer - there was an appeal there which I'm sure affects many individuals who are NOT necessarily rich & famous...

Regardless of the race of this individual, I'd be saying the same thing.

These pro-sports figures are all overglorified, overpaid, and taxpayer subsidized (via free stadiums to the mostly American-Jewish team owners)

He should be fired and lose all endorsements.

Would all of you people please get real for one minute? This has nothing to do with culture or race. It's all about some very sick people. These people's race or culture had nothing do to with their being very sick and abusing those dogs. I'm sick 'n' tired of all the "regulars" turning every article on every immaginable subject into a name-calling contest. I'm sick 'n' tired of all the hatefull name-callers digressing off of the subject at hand. If you have something to offer RE: these football players in trouble for organizing dog fighting, fine. As soon as you turn on each other (just like vicious dogs), as soon as you digress off the subject, "the terrorists have won." You people and your juvenile attitudes are part of the reason why the rest of the world holds us in such contempt. Get a clue, then get a life and quit being so childish about everything.

"Dog I am black so does that mean I am fighting DOGS? "

Again, I referred to a SUBculture of the black community, which by it's own definition is a minority population from among the larger community - and one that commonly engages in this sort of behavior. If you're suggesting that subculture does not exist, or that they do not engage in that kind of behavior... fine - but it seems a matter of course to me - and Vick appears to have involved himself WITH that minority subculture to his own detriment.

"Likewise,it is white folks that forged economic disenfranchisment and the social degradation, in order to thwart the upward mobility within the "black community", by creating white homogenization. "

First, odd how you rail against stereotyping by way of... um, stereotyping. Second, try studying economics - I think you'll find your mass white conspiracy has no legs. Wealth is created, not simply amassed - and the American Black people are THE most successful black people in the world... and if we can do away with blame-shifting no-accountability attitudes such as yours, I think black people will rise to the challenge & realize their full potential.

Hey infidel,
Did you know that Michael Vick is in trouble for dog fighting on his property in VA? Yeah and turns out it's illegal, AND he could go to jail.

Just in case you don't know what this thread is about.

Guess "white folks" group African-Americans that way because they wanted to be called that. White folks also come from different origins, but mostly call themselves American, with no hyphen.

Michael Vick, you had it all-- talent, respect, money-- what's wrong with you? Anyone who thinks this has anything to do with race is wrong-- it has to do with the fact that people who mistreat animals get a slap on the hand. NO, animals are not people-- but the measure of a man is in the way he treats those less fortunate than himself.

dogsoul, are you one of those intellectually inept individuals, because the only culture blacks have is psuedo-Eurocentric exclusionary form of culture, which individuals such like you imposed on a diverse group of people coming from fractionalized societies.

You reference the "black commmunity", it is white folks that lumped ALL blacks into this exclusionary enclave called the inner-city or ghetto, in order to amass all the wealth unto themselves.

Likewise,it is white folks that forged economic disenfranchisment and the social degradation, in order to thwart the upward mobility within the "black community", by creating white homogenization.

So, the charaterizing or lumping blacks into this monolithic group is a white phenomenon, just like the Europeans forged on Africans.

So, stop stereotyping gang banging, thugism, dog-fighting, indolence, unproductivity, etc., etc. behavior with an entire race, unless you want to be lumped into a stereotypical model of: pedophilia, mass-murderer, *** serial killer, cannibal, sexual deviant, etc., etc., etc. behavior.

Dogsoul get a freaking clue. Not all blacks fight dogs. You are very ignorant.

Fighting Dogs is not a culture.

"Dogsoul please explain what culture you are referring to. You keep saying culture, but what culture? "

I referenced several times the thug, gangsta, pimp subculture of the black community. Dog fighting, violence, guns, and drugs are common in that subculture - and sometimes, despite an individual's fame & wealth, they still remain closely connected with it... and can unfortunately end up in trouble as a result. So when people scratch their heads as to WHY a multimillionare would even CONSIDER this sort of thing, I think it's primarily a matter of what kind of environment he allowed himself to be influenced by....
