- I see the Iraqi fiasco is proceeding as miserably as ever. $10 billion per month sure buys a lot of misery. But don''t worry GOP, Barack will clean up your messes.
Seriously, you''ll see: America will slowly withdraw, there will be no genocide, and a power-equilibrium of the Iraqis'' choosing will be established.
I can almost feel the change already. - Reply to this comment

- OBTW, terrorislami, you didn''t comment on my post at 2:52 AM that when I said the Iranian-backed Hezbollah bombed the Beirut airport barracks and killed 241 American servicemen and 58 French paratroopers, and Reagan lacked the courage to "back up the words" he said in 1964 for Goldwater.
Didn''t Reagan say, in 1964, "You and I have the courage to say to our enemies, "There is a price we will not pay." There is a point beyond which they must not advance?"
You know? The French retaliated for their loss, but Reagan did nothing?
Did Reagan "speak with forked tongue" in 1964?
Where was that bravado in 1983?
Was he being "cowardly" when he "traded guns for hostages" instead of riding in, like the cowboy he pretended to be, to rescue the hostages?
Did he "negotiate" with the enemy?
Was the "great communicator" at a loss for "action" to save face? - Reply to this comment

I don''t study the Hindu religious traditions but I do know that "Hindu" is a Persian word and that the human race originated in the middle east.
So it''s not surprising that most ancient religions of the world have some common traits and traditions.
It''s also not surprising that in Central and South America there are ancient temples that are near-perfect replicas of ancient temples in the middle east, in spite of these cultures being separated for thousands of years.
It is interesting, but not surprising, that most religions have a "tribal mentality" meaning the tribe comes first and the individual second. Tribal members knew that they depended on each other for survival, and most tribes lived in fierce competition with one another for the basic necessities of life.
IMHO, the problem today is that, in theocracies like Iran, Iraq, and other middle east countries, the tribal mentality still exists. The Islamic fundamentalists, or fanatics, still believe that they must "wipe out" their enemies before their enemies (christians, jews) wipe them out. The tribal mentality also exists in more than a few christians and jews. - Reply to this comment

Unless you''re a member of the Bush/Cheney team, you don''t know what the American demands were.
Although I''m not a member of the Bush/Cheney team, I know what the American demands are because I made the effort to determine what was proposed to the Iraqis.
What are they?

Did I mention Muhammed''s name? I think not. Go back and read it again.
I though YOU were the expert on Islam and its terrorist ways.
I though YOU already knew that, before Islam, the nomadic Arabs had little time for religion.
I though YOU already knew that they were pagans and had a pantheon of deities that they worshipped at their shrines (they practiced polytheism) but they did not have a developed mythology that explained the relevance of their "gods" and holy places to the life of the spirit.
I thought YOU already knew that Jesus is a prophet in Islam. - Reply to this comment

- "The American demands "violate Iraqi sovereignty. At the end, we reached a dead end." Iraqi Prime Minister
Well, well, well, now look at that! The "american demands", meaning the bush regime, have made "demnds" that the iraqis refuse.
What demands have been made?
Does any American know? Unless you''re part of the bush/cheney regime you DONT KNOW.
Has any MSM reported to Americans what these demands are? No, not really.
We can thank our stars that the iraqis have refused. At the same time we can see now more clearly the real objectives of these neocon warmongers; the complete control of iraq''s resources and territory. It has been mentioned that 58 "permanent" military bases were demanded.
Behind bushit''s lies of bringing freedom to iraq, of fighting "terror" where there was none, and "protecting" America, we can see his true intentions -
the bush war to control iraq''s resources has now claimed the lives of over 4000 Americans and over 500''000 iraqis and ranks as one of the greatest criminal actions of the century.
It is the shame of our Nation, of our heritage, our guiding principles. - Reply to this comment

- Wow I have been really really disappointed with CBS lately hiding the facts and censoring the truth. These talks fell down because Bush is trying to leverage the iraqi''''s with 50 billion of their dollars that he currently holds in the Federal Reserve in new york (which is a private corporation that is partially owned by the bush''''s) The terms of this agreement are as follows:
GWB wants to setup 58 PERMANENT MILITARY BASES (there are roughly 30-33 today)
GWB wants to control iraqi airspace
GWB wants US soldiers and US contractors to have complete immunity from Iraqi law.
So for any of you with trouble reading between the lines this is what this means 1: the us government will control and run iraq in the oil companies interest 2: iraq will not have their own sovereignty only the illusion of democracy 3: we will never pull out of iraq
Furthermore Barack Obama and the entire democratic senate other than Dennis Kucinich (who is pushing for impeachment another thing CBS has not had a single story about) have done or said nothing about these fascist negotiations. - Reply to this comment

- If an American is to amount to anything he must rely upon himself, and not upon the State; he must take pride in his own work, instead of sitting idle to envy the luck of others. He must face life with resolute courage, win victory if he can, and accept defeat if he must, without seeking to place on his fellow man a responsibility which is not theirs. - Review of Reviews January 1897 Theodore
