The Iraqi people did not vote for freedom, they complied to George Bush''s ultimatum: He said Americans would not leave Iraq until democratic elections were held. So the Iraqis immediately gave us the elections Bush insisted on. When we still did not leave--they knew they had been scammed and the insurgency started. Since the beginning, over 80% of Iraqis polled have consistently said that they wanted us out of their country.
How convenient, that you forget what Bush said, that made them hold elections in the first place.
The real question is, if a man holds a gun to your head and says he will not put the gun down until you strip in public. Does your consequent stripping mean you wanted to be naked in public--or were you given an ultimatum that you felt you could not refuse. Wait. Don''t answer that. You''ve already validated how your brain does not function. LOL - Reply to this comment
- nookoolaid ,would you vote under those circumstances? I bet not! Why do you midigate and ignore the bravery of those Iraqi''s? Probably because you yourself could never muster the courage or comprehend their longing for democracy, people like you just use democracy as club to further your twisted agenda.

How do you KNOW FOR A FACT, that the Iraqi''s want a democracy? How do you know that they didn''t vote to elect a government that will tell America to get out? - Reply to this comment
- notblue - Try your spin on the Iraqis first...
US surge has failed - Iraqi poll
About 70% of Iraqis believe security has deteriorated in the area covered by the US military "surge" of the Past six months, an opinion poll suggests.
The survey for the BBC, ABC News and NHK of more than 2,000 people across Iraq also suggests that nearly 60% see attacks on US-led forces as justified.
This rises to 93% among Sunni Muslims compared with 50% for Shia.
The findings come as the top US commander in Iraq, Gen David Petraeus, prepares to address Congress.
He and US Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker are due to testify about the effects of the surge and the current situation in Iraq.
The poll suggests that the overall mood in Iraq is as negative as it has been since the US-led invasion in 2003, says BBC world affairs correspondent Nick Childs.

- Why on earth should we continue to fund a pointless war that was started based on a lie fabricated by the village idiot you ***, stuck in the conservative 50''s repubs voted in? We should have ended the war the second we found out that the entire american public was lied to by the government!
So why again are we sending $70 BILLION dollars to rebuild a country that hates us? So they can have nice equipment to hate us with? Or so they can have an democratic government to hate us in a more organizated fashion? Oh I forgot all the problems in america are fixed, so lets move on to a different country and I think we were all living a little too comfortably, so lets all send our life savings over to Iraq and the middle east via oil profits so they can make a profit on the war - I believe the right word is extortion... - Reply to this comment
- "The Bush administration did not slam the door on proposals in Congress that would insist Iraq do more to pay for its rebuilding efforts. In the meantime, independent investigators conclude in a report that substantial U.S. support continues despite Baghdad''s anticipated $70 billion windfall in oil revenues."
The REAL underlying issue, is WHO is getting the reconstruction projects. The Iraqi''s won''t stand for their "oil money" being taken and given to politically connected companies, like us stupid and gullible Americans do.
The Iraqi''s would then REALLY believe that we are stealing their national treasure / oil income. - Reply to this comment
