Iraq: What Did Congress Know, And When?
November 19, 2005

Bush says Congress had the same (faulty) intelligence he did. Howard Dean says intelligence was "corrupted." We give facts.

Summary

The President says Democrats in Congress "had access to the same intelligence" he did before the Iraq war, but some Democrats deny it."That was not true," says Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean. "He withheld some intelligence. . . . The intelligence was corrupted."
Neither side is giving the whole story in this continuing dispute.

The President''s main point is correct: the CIA and most other US intelligence agencies believed before the war that Saddam had stocks of biological and chemical weapons, was actively working on nuclear weapons and "probably" would have a nuclear weapon before the end of this decade. That faulty intelligence was shared with Congress %u2013 along with multiple mentions of some doubts within the intelligence community %u2013 in a formal National Intelligence Estimate just prior to the Senate and House votes to authorize the use of force against Iraq.

No hard evidence has surfaced to support claims that Bush somehow manipulated the findings of intelligence analysts. In fact, two bipartisan investigations probed for such evidence and said they found none. So Dean''s claim that intelligence was "corrupted" is unsupported.

Wow! How kind of Betrayus and the other scum-sucking dogs of the Regime...and, by the way, what ever happened with the "Home by Christmas" thing? Was that just a GOLF DELTA lie??...Yeah, I thought so...

UK officials are reporting that Betrayus wants war with Iran...our al Qaeda assets have said they want to attack Iran...It would just like Yugoslavia...al Qaeda and the US working side by side...In fact, Ayman al-Zawahiri''s al Qaeda brother, Zaiman, worked training terrorists in Kosovo with the protection of the Americans...Lovely, isn''t it?--What your sons and daughters are dying for...what your tax dollars are buying...

DOWN WITH THE DEMOPUBLICAN REGIME!!

Secdef Gates is also onboard with that. We will still have forces in Iraq for awhile.

RowdyTexan2,

I was making my post off of comments like this.

Starting Phased Redeployment within Hillary''s First Days in Office:

The most important part of Hillary''s plan is the first: to end our military engagement in Iraq''s civil war and immediately start bringing our troops home. As president, one of Hillary''s first official actions would be to convene the Joint Chiefs of Staff, her Secretary of Defense, and her National Security Council. She would direct them to draw up a clear, viable plan to bring our troops home starting with the first 60 days of her Administration

AJMarine1,,,, Oh hell no, there was major fights on the floors of both the Senate & House, republs refused oversite, deneyed access to intell for those normally invvolved, limited it to select few on what what the White House called, to those with the need to know.

There were more fights to keep Senate & the House from discussing Iraq than there was fights to stop the 9/11 investigation.

That''s where you are wrong! Hillary in the first debate said she would evaluate the situation on the ground, get the generals to put together a safe exit plan for the troops! She never said immediately! Remember she was highly criticized for not saying IMMEDIATELY like the idiot Obama did!
