Speaks VOLUMES that the factions went to Iran to broker PEACE. Iran is the clear winner in all this. The US LOSES AGAIN.

Washington was 57 when he took office.

That doesn"t seem very elderly until you reckon that the life expectancy of white males in America then was 35.

That would be like a man of 100 seeking the presidency today.

Life expectancy, I meant.

"George Washington was very old when he took office -- that is, if you match his chronological age to the life expectancy of white males in the America of his day."

"fibonacci, calling someone "old" and therefore not qualified, to me, is the same as calling someone Black and therefore not qualified to lead the majority.

The candidate we select must stand on his record of achievements and what we think he will do for America."

I may be prejudiced, but I agree with that.

George Washington was very old when he took office -- that is, if you match his chronological age to the age expectancy of white males in the America of his day.

Besides, our Constitution ably provides for succession in the event of age related disability.

I refer the forum to Cicero"s essay "Should Old Men Govern ?"

J, the NYT article is about right.

If the Sadr militia withdraws "and helps" obtain security then the Iraqi government wins and Maliki wins.

I do think this strengthens Sadr''s political position. Sadr played it pretty well.

Now, if the Iraqi central government increases control over the country everyone wins.
