However, the White House called the fighting "the exact opposite" of a setback.

"This is exactly what we all want to see..."

Yeah RIGHT, backpedalling and damage control is what that is and Im not fooled.

"The violence has raised fears that the cease-fire declared in August by al-Sadr could unravel, presenting the gravest challenge to the Iraqi government in months. "

I have no such fears, I HOPE it falls apart and collapses- let them destroy themselves, they will sooner or later no matter what we sheeple do, may as well get it on and get it over NOW rather than later.

"This is exactly what we all want to see - which is the government of Iraq taking the initiative that was afforded to it by the surge to go aggressively after illegal criminal gangs" and militias in the Basra region," spokesman Tony Fratto told reporters Wednesday.

More power to the Iraq government; this is a key moment in time..............hopefully they will make the best of it.

Victory can always be achieved by a nation as powerful as we are. We just need to redo the Falluja excercise over and over until it all becomes very still and quiet in Iraq.
The question is not whether we have the will to achieve victory but whether we have decended sufficiently into depravity to want the victory that we can achieve.

These elections are getting out of hand. I do not know who to vote for? Should we vote for Hillary or Obama or McCain any ideas anybody? The fighting on lying and racial bigotry that is going on in this election between the candidates is not good for the country! One idea is to go to http colon slash slash pilgrimswaylighted dot blogspot dot com do not add the www at all. Let me know what you think ok by the voting tab. whoever is the next president will be dealing with a big can of poisonous worms. Like the economy, illegal aliens and terrorism to boot etc. etc.

Basara was the most peaceful city in Iraq until the British pulled out and became fobbits. The Mahdi army quickly moved in to fill the vacuum. Now the Iraq government is standing up for itself and plans on taking control of its own cities, starting with Basara.

Too bad the haters have nothing more to do than to try to steer this big step towards full autonomy into a sweeping name calling buffoonery.

Hopefully this will be the first of many steps to drive the Mahdi army out of the country. Where will it go? Probably back with its leader and the commanders who are already in Iran, avoiding being killed or arrested.
