President Marks Fifth Anniversary Of U.S. Invasion Touting Success Of Troop Surge
- Posted by fightfascism
You know, I wouldn''t go so far as to call the Chinese or the Saudis evil. They have simply accepted the American and European view that capitalism is "the way to go" and they are playing it better than the countries that forced it upon them.
We forced the view that "if ya wanna play, ya gotta pay" on the world, it was only a matter of time before more skilled players emerged. We try to maintain an advantage by manipulating currencies, and even warfare, but neither of these tactics can prove successful in the medium to long term.
Don''t blame the Chinese or the Saudis, they are simply playing the cards dealt them, and playing them more skillfully than we are. - Reply to this comment

If it was about "saving people" why haven''t we invaded saudi arabia? those ****ers are VERY evil, almost as evil as the commie chinese. Their also raping us at the pump in case you hadn''t noticed. Why haven''t you volunteered to go fight one of those countries? they''re way worse on what you''re citing than saddam was? probably the same reason he (saddam) was executed before he could spill the beans on who sold him, knowing what it was for, his poison gases. -oh, it was the saudi lovin'' bush family and their buddy rummy who sold it to him! - Reply to this comment

- "Hubris is what you call freeing a people from the most vile people the world has seen in sixty years." getrealnow2
Only to turn around and do the same and worse to those people than their own leaders did. You call occupying, kidnapping, torturing, murdering, and imposing our puppets to rule over them freeing? Get real now, getrealnow2.
"Oh our people only count." getrealnow2
Yep, especially when so called "conservatives" insist we cannot afford vital infrastructure needed at home. Get real now, getrealnow2.
"For a party for the people I guess that stops with only Americans." getrealnow2
Yep, the only people any Americans have the right to represent, are Americans. America is not "king of the world", nor does it possess the moral, ethical, or even legal authority to dictate to other countries, nor will it ever have them until we, by example, prove to the world that we might have a better way to do things. Get real now, getrealnow2.
"Funny how many in your party hate this country. you are so worried about the 400 dead soilders but havent minded half million babies being aborted for the laws you protect." getrealnow2
The number is 4,000, and they died because of Bush''s lies. Don''t forget the conservative estimates of Iraqi dead, wounded, and displaced, which start at 1.5 million, and as for the dead babies, we should use our treasury assets to fix the socio-economic problems in America that make it necessary for women to have abortions. Get real now, getrealnow2. - Reply to this comment
- That should say that the Brits didn''t really lose to the Americans minus Yorktown....Washington just "hit & ran" to stay alive and it worked!! The Green Mountain boys were essentially "insurgents" that shot from a distance in the forests and didn''t fight "traditionally" for the time.
Same with the Afghans....we helped teach them (Courtesy of the CIA) how to make bombs, inflict guerilla warfare, and terror tactics....untraditional for the Soviets and it worked. - Reply to this comment
- Sad truthis they would reather lose a war to make Bush look bad then win one and make our country look good.

The real sad truth is that America didn''t lose "combat" battles in Vietnam either...nor did the Americans during the Revolutionary War, the Afghans vs. the Soviets...that''s what you don''t get! The war isn''t about winning/losing, it''s about whether or not the Iraqis want us there? Like the US wanted Great Britain gone, the Vietnamese wanted the Americans gone and the Afghanis wanted the Soviets gone...they will use guerilla warfare tactics and eventually the bigger country runs out of operational money. Wake up and study a little history....the same old thing is happening once again, you''re just too ignorant to realize that it''s a CAN''T WIN situation. - Reply to this comment

You mean the Democrats, who couldn''t stop a lying traitor from sending soldiers into harm''s way on the basis of lies, and now, after the lies are exposed, cannot bring him and his gang to justice, but they can stop the drilling for oil? Get real, getreal.
And as far as Saddam, what he did to his own people was the business of Iraq, not the US, and since he rewarded the families of suicide bombers in Israel, that is the business of Saddam and Israel, again not the US. Get real, getreal.
Saddam killed his share of Iraqis, several times on orders from the CIA, who pushed him to war against Iran, only to turn around and sell weapons to both sides. Bush killed an even bigger share of Iraqis, and is still killing them, so who is the bigger criminal? Neither, they were both the same, but Saddam is not killing Iraqis now, Bush is. Get real, getreal.
How do you "win" a war started because of lies, and even if such ridiculousness were possible, how would that make our country look like anything other than an arrogant, hegemonistic, imperialist? Get real, getreal. - Reply to this comment

- Truth on oil is if the Dems would let us drill for it we wouldnt be paying a billion a day for it. The truth is oil is breaking our economy not the war. Truth is the oil comes from places where enviromental rules arent followed. Truth is Dems know this but court your vote as the stewarts of our enviroment. Just like acting like there for the african Americans. All they have helped them do is get 10 million abortions in the last 30 years. Truth is Saddam killed million not Bush. Truth is Saddam said he would build WMD right after the UN lifted sanctions. Truth is Saddam paid suicide bombers families money. Hard to find these truths when 80% of the media vote Dem and hate Bush. Sad truthis they would reather lose a war to make Bush look bad then win one and make our country look good.

Your sense of hubris is a relic of the Vietnam debacle.
The better question is why should we expend our lives, energy, and treasury assets to interfere in other countries, when we haven''t yet addressed our own problems?
Don''t just call yourself getreal, live it. - Reply to this comment
- "How does oil got noth''''n to do with OPEC? Why is it Bush and his cronies?" Posted by octo99
Oil has everything to do with OPEC, but that is immaterial, who gave the order to invade a country that was not a threat to the US?, and who helped him promote the lies he used to justify it? - Reply to this comment
- So we should only save white Europeans from treachorous regimes?I mean the guys in the mideast behead children. Burn children and women alive. Throw acid on womens faces if they show them in public. Blow up weddings funerals and schools. Love to do suicide bombings in Mosques. I guess hitler and his bunch were alot worst because they killed white people mostly. I mean it was worth 100 million people to free the people of Europe. Weve barely broken hundred thousand in MidEast but you guys are ready to give up. Were at a half trillion and counting way short of our three trillion spent fighting for white Europeans. You know those people in the mideast dont want freedom because theyre arent realy people.

- History will decide if Bush was a visionary man with a visionary plan to drag the Middle East into the 21 th Century or just a stupid man with a stupid plan.

Sadly, the verdict is in. The Emperor has no clothes, and we''re sick of the sight of his wrinkled backside. (Apologies if I caused anybody to lose their dinner.) AJ, we may not agree on everything but please know that I thank you for your service. - Reply to this comment
- I beg to differ, Bush had zero vision. He followed a plan laided out by Paul Wolfiwitz(spelling?) and the Neocons long before Bush ever took office. It proposed invading a Middle Eastern country, and establishing U.S. bases to control the oil reserves in the region.

It was MUCH, MUCH more ambitious and dangerous than that - at least according to General Wesley Clark:
"The former four-star general recalls two visits to the Pentagon following the terrorist attacks of September 2001. On the first visit, less than two weeks after Sept. 11, he writes, a "senior general" told him, "We''re going to attack Iraq. The decision has basically been made."
Six weeks later, Clark returned to Washington to see the same general and inquired whether the plan to strike Iraq was still under consideration. The general''s response was stunning:
"''Oh, it''s worse than that,'' he said, holding up a memo on his desk. ''Here''s the paper from the Office of the Secretary of Defense [then Donald Rumsfeld] outlining the strategy. We''re going to take out seven countries in five years.'' And he named them, starting with Iraq and Syria and ending with Iran."
While Clark doesn''t name the other four countries, he has mentioned in televised interviews that the hit list included Lebanon, Libya, Somalia and Sudan." - Reply to this comment
- "Bush: Iraq War "Noble" And "Necessary"
Brian: No war started because of lies is either noble, nor necessary. Bush is not only a liar,a coward, a murderer and a traitor, but is also deluded.

It proposed invading a Middle Eastern country, and establishing U.S. bases to control the oil reserves in the region. It would also be to the benefit of the Israelis. My friends and I talked about it way before Bush ever took office. Bush doesn''t have any vision or intellect, that''s why I never voted for the guy. - Reply to this comment
- If Americans want to protect the "American Way of Life" due process, habeas corpus, our Constitutional freedoms and rights to privacy, search and seizure; against torture, for justice for everyone.
They need to help remove Bush/Cheney from office asap.
