notblue,,,,, Winning strategies ??? OK, you say the Surge has worked I say it''s failed, it has provied some progress so why not double the numbers of our own ground troops & eliminate the need for private security contractors that are still causing problems....... It would also help to double our forces in Afaganistan & it would also help to fully equip our troops instead of renigging on promises.

"Thank you to all the brave young men and women of our armed forces and their families who have volunteered to sacrifice so that we may live in peace and freedom."

You''re welcome. Now, support the troops...bring us home.

yankeerebel7,,,, You might direct your question of people not liking the troops to this White House who still won''t give them the equipment or personel neccessary to get the job done ---- Direct it at Bush who ran from his obligation to active duty.

ilikecats....I don''t particularly like cats but I agree with you.
I would even go so far as to say the US has become a Plurocracy...repetitively ruled by a few powerful families, as was Palestine and Judea in biblical times when either the house of David or the house of Aaron ruled.
Maybe the powers that are to be are the house of Bush and the house of Clinton.

[Why do liberals have such utter disdain for the men and women in the US military? ... Why do they spit such vile hostililty towards a President elected by the people, but do all they can to defend the thug leaders in Iran and Venezuela?]
[Posted by yankeerebel7 at 04:25 PM : Dec 27, 2007]

it''s not clear why the right wing talking points keep trying to drive that home. why are you still reading them?

the president was NOT elected by the people ... he was ''selected'' by the supreme court ... and on the basis of ''equal protection'' no less.

he''s a lying babbling idiot who isn''t qualified to serve as an appointee in his own admin ... and if he really cared about this country he''d recognize his utter failure, pack his bags, grab the idiot to his right by the arm ... and head back to crawford.

why do you still defend such a failure?

. . . volunteered to sacrifice so that we may live in peace and freedom. ???

Gee, it seems awful pagan to me to have to sacrifice your young for freedom and peace. Isn''t that what primitive, ignorant cultures do?

I can name dozens of countries where freedom and peace abound but that have not been aggressively involved in a war in decades. Canada, Italy, Germany, France, Scotland, Ireland, Greenland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark .....to name a few.

Of course ignorant, naive, war mongers will insist that democracy exists only in the United States and that you have to send other less important people''s children to die for it.
Here''s a solution:
Educate yourself beyond what is offered you, travel and see what true freedom and democracy looks like.
It will open your eyes to the fact you have been duped by your government and the society that has resulted from it.

This is the problem with trying to debate any topic. First you have the labels. Either someone considers himself a liberal and anyone who disagrees is a neocon. Or someone considers himself a conservative and anyone who disagrees is a liberal.

When you get down to the base of it, no one wants war. No one wants hunger. No one wants others to be hurt. But everyone is so concerned with their labels, that you never get down to the heart of the matter. And the truth is almost all of us want the same thing.

There are a few "neocons" and a few radical liberals who have no concept of reality and will never listen to reason. And those are the few that constantly make themselves heard.

This is why we end up with terrible leaders, (no, I''m not only talking about BUSH, I''m talking about the Democrats and the Republicans in Congress as well) because everyone is more concerned with a label than with what someone truly believes.

Isn''t it AMAZING to see the liberals treat a win by our boys in Iraq, the death of terrorists who maim and savage innocents in the name of their little girl humping allah, as a DEFEAT?

They actually LIKE it when Americans die because it gives them an excuse to bash Bush, who has been *** slapping the hapless liberals all over the Hill for a year.

Remember, what ever is GOOD for America is BAD for the liberals.

Oh your flag decal
won''''''''t get you into heaven anymore,
It''''''''s too overcrowded
from your dirty little war,
Now Jesus don''''''''t like killing,
no matter what the reason for,
And your flag decal
won''t get you into heaven anymore.

And the liberal congress will continue to fund more...

Re: "But (Sadr) has also indicated that his fighters have the right to defend themselves if attacked by U.S. forces."

Obviously.

Re: "The U.S. military said in a statement that troops killed 12 suspected al Qaeda in Iraq terrorists and detained 37 others during a four-day operation near Muqdadiyah..."
