BIG WASHINGTON GOVERNMENT is not the answer to Sunni-Shia conflict in Iraq, or camps in North Korea.

And if we didn''''t get involved, what would have happened?

Afghanistan would have fell to the Soviet Union, the Taliban would have been defeated, and bin Laden would either be dead, captured, or planning attacks on Russia.

I would bet that 9/11 would never have happened.

..............

That is a very real possibility.

And with the fall of the Soviet Union, Afghanistan would have eventually declared itself an independent republic, just like Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Georgia, and so on.

Would it have been the Talliban who ruled Afghanistan after the break up of the Soviet Union? Who knows!

All I know is that the U.S. government, over the past 60 years, have created so many problems (for the U.S. government) in the Middle East with all of our involvements. More problems than solutions.

If and a big IF at that, that Iraq becomes a true "democracy" and a model to the arab world as a democracy, history will judge Bush favorably despite his methodology. Nothing has come out of the Iraqis thus far that demonstrates that this scenario will fold out. The "current success" in Iraq is not truly measurable if there is any " true success" at all. A couple of mths vs a couple of years is not measurable and the past one should never forget. The end measurement of Iraq is years if not decades off, any claim of success now is premature.
