Comments on: State Dept.: Go To Iraq Or You're Fired
Due To Lack Of Volunteers, State Department Ordering Some Employees To Baghdad Embassy
- Israel bombed Lebanon, and it was Hizbullah that came to the rescue providing people with supplies and help. They were seen as heroes, and their message to the people is "Kill Americans and Jews, go to heaven". Now we and the elected Iraqi government have failed the people of Iraq, and the Mahdi Army has declared a cease fire against the US troops while they become like Hizbullah in Lebanon, winning the hearts and minds of the people by providing them with aid. That, to me is a sign we''ve completely lost the war in Iraq. How do you fight a war when no one will take up arms against you?
The winners hate America, won''t share their oil with us, and won''t listen to us tell them how they should run their country. We''ve taught them how to fight the way we do, which means we''ve taught them how to beat us. How is this better than Iraq under Saddam?
Our enemy is being welcomed into the homes of ordinary Iraqis while the US military becomes less and less relevant. If we had left after handing over Saddam, we wouldn''t have had to suffer the indignity of being ignored by the "terrorists". - Reply to this comment

- "You have no idea how hard it is to keep schedules on submarines or on other military duties - j-w
As a previous exec officer of a company sized unit, I''ll assure you I do.
It is not as HARD to keep schedules on a submarine as when IEDs are a potential and bullets are flying around you is what I said.
Good night j-w. Wow - I''m scared - j-w evoked Freddy on me. Yawn, whatever.
Have a good one dscott407. - Reply to this comment

- dscott407 - it was me that said FOX was the number 1 news on the web, not j-w. And, I may have misquoted. I believe it should have been number 1 on cable & Dish.

- dscott407,,,, Fox only started broadcasting news in 1996,,,

- I have to laugh every time I ask the question of why Hillary is such a good candidate for the Presidency.
We get comparisons to Bush. Well, if you have such a low opinion of bush, wouldn''t that be an easy goal to meet ?
The truth is, Hillary is not an outstanding Presidential candidate. She IS electable, and that''s where your party falls down. The Democrats don''t care about who is in office, as long as it is one of theirs.
Hillary is an egotist. And, if you didn''t like Bush for being one (at least that''s what I hear all the time from liberals on this site), why would you vote in another ? Because she''s a Democrat - and any democrat will do ?
Pathetic. - Reply to this comment
- j-whitman...I''ll agree, NPR can lean a little to the left on the topics they report.
Good question thought. Is FOX really numero uno on the WEB? I will have to ponder that one. But my quick answer could be just plan old good marketing and/or brand loyalty from the viewing public.
FOX has FOX Sports, NASCAR covererage, FOX''s Primetime lineup. I would bet that a large majority of Americans watch FOX for many reasons.
They have come a long way since the earlier days back in the late ''80''s when all the had was "Married With Children" "21 Jumpstreet" and real long shot of a cartoon show called "The Simpsons" - Reply to this comment
- speakinup,,,,, Isn''t this article about the missmanagement of the State Dept & the growing problems they are haveing ??????

- speakinup,,,, You have no idea how hard it is to keep schedules on submarines or on other military duties...
.... I was also a qualified Range Master on Guam. & had to train hundreds in weapons, both in Guam & Pearl Harbor.... yes I''ve had bullets flying around me, from idiots just like you who would never listen or open thie eyes. - Reply to this comment
- ok - the top two reasons you gave for Hillary could be matched by atleast 25% of this nation.
This makes her qualified!?!
Pretty weak. I would hope that in all of the Democratic party, you could supply someone a little more outstanding than that. - Reply to this comment
- speakinup,,,, Let me give you one more very recent poll to go to bed with.... Then I have to cook dinner.
People who believe in Ghosts 34%
People who believe in Bush or his war policies 30% - Reply to this comment
- "speakinup,,,, As a matter of fact, we kept to schedules & budgets on boomers & don''''t try to tell us now you where in the military or ever in combat.. -j-w
Nope never in combat, but was in the military.
So, you think being in a submarine is the same thing as being in Baghdad when trying to keep a schedule ?
How often do you have bullets flying around in submarines, or IEDs to REALISTICLY worry about. I''m not talking about the potential, I''m talking about how many people are really killed in submarines, compared to the individuals in Baghdad.
I think you can agree that your schedules we just a mite bit easier to control in YOUR combat zone than the one where the US Embassy is being built in Baghdad. And, if you can''t, well you only expose your ignorance. - Reply to this comment
- speakinup,,,,,, She''s a good mother, kept her marriage together (Unlike incestual Guiliani, who can''t even get his kids to like him or stay married) denotes real family values...
.... She doesn''t profiteer from 9/11, or war,,, a good manager & leader, she''s strong & dedicated to this country... Yes, she''s another politician --- But she has managed to take many of Bush''s Texas supporters away from your dishonorable GOP..
... Many other reasons, but you are trying to - Reply to this comment
- dscott407 - I would agree with you on the NPR not having spin, unfortunately, they seem to be more than a little bias on the selection of their topic to discuss.
So, here''s something for you to wonder about. If FOX has so much spin, and the President''s popularity ratings are so low, why do you think it is that FOX is the most popular news station on the web ? - Reply to this comment
- speakinup,,,, As a matter of fact, we kept to schedules & budgets on boomers & don''t try to tell us now you where in the military or ever in combat..
... Back then we had taxes now all we have is increasing debt, increasing intrest debt, no war budgets at all it''s just unaccountable Emergency War Funding that''s out of control..... - Reply to this comment
- j-whitman starting to see a pattern - like no one will talk with you ?
BaghdadsHere - j-w loves to make these broad generalizations based on one fact. I believe this is where Ann Coulter was talking about if you do engage a far left liberal in point-counterpoint and conceed a point, they will build this enormous ediface upon their first point.
Well, j-w, he just forgets about the concession part - he jumps right into the enormous ediface phase. A true credit to the Democratic party.
So, J-w, what is so good about Hillary, why would she make a good President ? - Reply to this comment
- j-whitman...I agree. FrontLine is one of the sources I rely on more. They seem to give as "objective" of point a view on just about subject they cover. Or at least spin at the most minimal level.
The News Hour, AIR, NPR are the folks I seem to trust the most.
If I need spin I can go to FOX or even good old CBS for that. - Reply to this comment
- BaghdadsHere,,,, They pay for paying attention ???? I''ll have to check into that. Got a link ??????
